We decided to stop by El Katracho Restaurant for dinner, we got to choose our table & we sat down. I haven't been to many Honduran restaurants, so there's not much I can really compare the food too. But.. hear me out. They bring out a complementary tortilla chips drizzled in a house sauce & cotija cheese I believe...But Delicious! Nice little appetizer. I would highly recommend the Baleada, it's just a handmade flour tortilla with bean & cheese, it sounds basic, but trust it's pretty good. Perfect for any occasion. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Finally I got the Carne asada plate, which I will say from the times I've been here. It never misses, always nicely cooked, seasoned to perfection, perfectly paired with these fried plantains called "Tajadas" topped with a creamy mayonnaise/thousand island type dressing. It's just a well-balanced plate. Sweet, savory, tangy and creamy! everything complements each other perfectly. My biggest complaint would be customer service, these waitresses don't know the first thing about good service, they don't know how to treat their customers, they come out as rude. Just be ready for that. Overall El Katracho Restaurant is an authentic Honduran restaurant with good food, it's a small restaurant but the ambiance is a vibe. Parking is on the street in front of the restaurant, usually easy to find. The service is not the friendliest but also not rude. There's not usually too many people but it does take a while to get your food. As far as the food goes, they do have authentic Honduran dishes like pastelitos, plátanos maduros, baleadas, & casamiento. They also use Central American cheese and sour cream which is delicious! We usually go here for breakfast & their food is always freshly made and consistent. Definitely a small hole in the wall that I recommend if you're wanting some Central American food! read more

I took my GF to experience the Katracho Foodie scene. She already loves my home cooking but this restaurant serves what I like to call "UNIFORM" plates and servings. We ordered A traditional breakfast plate for her Desayuno con Carne (Steak Breakfast) Traditional Breakfast - Over medium Eggs , Blended refried beans , fried plantains , sour cream, avocado queso fresco (fresh cheese). And for myself I ordered A pollo con papas plate. (Fried chicken Breast ) with fried plantains topped with a unique delicious chicken dressing, served with a side of coleslaw with its own dressing. We shared a Classic Tradional Baleada. Baleada - Handmade Flour Tortilla covered with Blended beans , scrambled eggs and Avocado. Topped with sour cream and Cotija cheese . Can't ever go wrong with a BALEADA FOR BREAKFAST LUNCH OR DINNER. 2 beers (Port Royal /SalvaVidas) & a tropical banana soda to go. As far as service goes , everything did delay more than usual . We went during the weekend and it was pretty bussy with bigger parties.Hosting bigger family groups. Maybe more servers would help orders get pushed out faster. Sopa de Caracol: This is a rich golden yellow chowder of roots and tubers and conch. Conch is a mollusk, like a sea snail or abalone. It is firm like an abalone and subtle in flavor like a clam. The conch is cooked in conch broth and coconut milk for a sweet and tangy flavor. Strips of cassava lend a nice starchy and gummy texture. (I just learned that yuca and cassava are the same thing. It's what boba is made of.) Chunks of plantains provide sweetness to the savory soup, as do the carrots. Bits of cilantro add zest. There's no shortage of carbs in this dish. The is the best Honduran restaurant! My family and I came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. The dishes are authentic and delicious. The back room is big, accommodating parties. They play the jams which sets the vibe and it's just a great time with good food. My favorite is the baleada with beans and cheese. I eat two and take two home. The tortilla is like no other, addictively good. Honduran enchiladas are what we typically think a tostada is. But either way it's delicious. I also really like chips and salas they serve when you sit down. If you're looking for authentic food or are curious about Honduran food, you must try this place. read more

I'm glad the waitress told me to order 1 instead of 2+ baleadas. One was satisfying enough for me. Waitress was sweet enough to give me an English menu haha Once seated, we were served tortilla chips that had a really tasty sauce (sweet, tomato?) and some cheese (maybe cotija). I had to move the basket of chips away from me to make sure i was sharing. They were that good haha. I ordered the tamarind drink. I love tamarind but I'm used to eating the candies. To have it in drink form was pretty cool. They have a good variety of drinks to choose from. Setting was very homey. We went on a Friday night. There was music playing and I liked every song. Been here many times over the years. Service has always been poor but baleadas were good enough to keep me coming back. This time they were so skimpy, dry, and bland. Also expensive for what you get or i was overcharged for eggs and avo when they were bean and cheese only. Disgustingly, there was also a lollipop stick stuck to the inside of foil wrapping the food. I might have preferred a hair instead. Seems like im paying more as they get worse. They've failed on food, cleanliness, price, and service. Baleadas are delicious and big! Definitely does not disappoint. Please be patient. Every time I've gone it has been in the morning so little to no wait. Parking is in the rear enter from the gas station next door. I've had the baleadas, the banana soda, and a few of the desserts. I love this place because I miss Honduras so much! I have to say the food was so delicious. I had ordered baleadas con frijoles frito, queso y crema. My daughter loved them! I got the enchiladas and they were phenomenal. This will be my to go to for Honduran food. Eating this food took me back to spending my summers with my oldest cousin. Also you can never go wrong ordering the banana soda. One thing though, I came on a Friday at 6:30 pm. The service was a little slow. Their was only one person handling the orders and being the cashier. The food is really good and feels super authentic which is what makes this place so popular, the main thing they need to improve on or actually be conscious of is their service, they do not check on your table at all while waiting over 30 minutes for your food. I don't know what's up with people saying the waitresses are rude, the younger ones at least seem to be very nice. Not warm but polite enough. I ordered coffee and a water and never got the water so I'm here thirsty wondering if I'm going to get my water. The ambiance is nice, very cute, very quaint. Can get crowded on a busy day. We just moved to the neighborhood and we noticed they play soccer games on the TVs so my husband and I decided to go check out the US game and have some baleadas. The tortillas were sooooo soft and delicious, I only wish I had more space in my stomach to eat another. The service was great but you have to remember they make the dishes fresh for us and that takes time, we also went in during a busy time and there was only one server so you just have to be patient but while we waited we snacked on some yummy chips with frijoles sauce, so simple yet so good!!! English/Spanish I dont really like to write reviews, but this has been one of the worst experiences ive had at a restaurant. i am dissapointed truly. ive been going to this restaurant for years and it was always pretty good or ok enough for me to come back but today i went in and i stood around to be seated for 3-5 minutes, no one came and then a friend and i sat ourselves at a table and waited about 10-13 minutes and not a hello or welcome or a to take a drink order just walked by. I eventually went up to the counter to ask if we had to order at the register when this woman said she would take our order. She has a disgusting attitude, got my order wrong and i told the other waitress about the mistake and she was nice about it but the other lady loudly responds trying to defend herself trying to blame me? when my spanish is good? she also came and took our plates when my friend wasnt done she did it without asking. she said she would bring the check i just walked to the front to pay and leave i didnt want to make a scene and disturb others but i will definitley be warning others about this place. I am a server as well and i would never treat a costumer like i was today. Owners do better, great staff is key to success. I was very pleased to try traditional Honduran food for the first time! It was so hard to pick a meal from the menu since they offer such a wide variety. I decided to order the El Katracho which comes with a little bit of everything. It was absolutely delicious! Although, this place is open until midnight, dining hours vary, which I was not aware of. I recommend calling ahead of time to ask what their dining hours are. While we waited for our food, I noticed that the restaurant is clean, lively, and family friendly. The location needs improvement and a good interior remodel, you know what they say, "if it ain't broken why fix" wrong if it needs improvement, do it. But the food is amazing the baleadas are some of the best, the infamous sopa de caracol is probably one of the best i ever tried. I highly recommend the grilled chicken! Yuca con chicharrón is amazing and don't forget, they also have really amazing breakfast and a very traditional Macheteada. I must say the prices are a little to high. read more

Pretty good spot for Honduran food I guess. This was my first time trying out the food and it was good. The menu is very simple... Try the baleadas those where enough for my appetite ( I ordered 2) the mango margaritas where yummy. My buddy ordered the Katracho breakfast .. Ir had eggs with ham, beans, platoons fritos ( fried platains) cheese n cream. That's a typical Honduran or Salvadorean breakfast..
