The food is always amazing at this place,, however the wait was over 1 hour for our food and the place wasn't busy at all.

The hospitality sucks here They don't provide there customers even basic water? They will charge you $2.50 per bottle of water bear in mind if you drink one of those special I want my spot for 895 if it's like almost $10 yikes not to mention the That the agua frescas was Ridiculously sweet. And I had to dilute it with water because that's how bad it was. And the pupusa's were ridiculously salty as hell. I've been here before and I've been happy, but this is my biggest gripe. I don't think I'll be coming anytime soon until they change management once again sorry. The ambience is still happy but that's all I get out of here now and looks the food. Yikes. read more

Came in for a business trip. Very spacious restaurant. Parking is not a problem. The food was delicious!! Very flavorful and they give you a lot for an affordable price!! Service it self was great. I decided to give this local restaurant another try. And it was again a disappointment. Came in on Friday which is apparently karaoke night. While this would have been all fine and dandy if the restaurant wasn't so small, and the DJ set up wasn't made for a huge venue. It wasn't just loud. It was painfully loud. So loud that the waitress couldn't hear me or understand my order. So many minutes later she brought out the wrong order. I had ordered Carne Guisada and she brought Carne Asada. The Asada looked burnt. So I sent it back. Didn't really get any apologies. it was obvious that the waitress spoke no English. But even pointing at the picture didn't help. When the food finally came out, was poorly made and flavored. The gravy was watery, not thick. It had vegetables in it that aren't normally associated with this dish like potatoes and green beans. It really had no seasoning. Bland. The refried beans looked like a brown soup. The rice was alright, but again, no flavor. Some friends recommend this restaurant to me, and I went today looking for pupusas, but for my surprise, they even have quesadilla and miloha sweet Salvadorean bread, so so good. Jaltepeque is a hidden gem. This was one of my first times eating Salvadoran food and boy was I impressed. I ordered 2 pupusas and a tamale. The pork pupusa was my favorite, but I also had the one that came with cheese and the green flower that is local to the region (not sure what it's called). The tamale was also very good, however it was a little light on the filling to my liking. The waitress only spoke Spanish, but luckily my friend could order for us. After eating, I forgot my sunglasses on the table and had to drive back to get it. The waitress was so nice and had already taken them behind the counter to keep them safe. She was extremely tentative and fast, had a smile the whole time, unfortunately I forgot her name or if not i would put it on this review. We went on a Friday and they had DJ who was not only doing Karaoke, but was playing absolute hits. The vibe was a lot of fun. We even ended up singing a song. Honestly this place blew us away. I have been a customer for several years. However, the quality of their pupusas has changed drastically in the past couple of months. The last couple of times I have ordered beans and cheese pupusas they did not have much of the ingredients inside. Instead, they looked and tasted more like plain tortillas. What a great find! I had just finished a dance class Friday night in North Hollywood, and me and my friend were craving some Salvadorian food. Little did know that we were surrounded by Salvadorian restaurants. Jaltepeque 3 was one of the only ones open past 9pm in the area. We were pleasantly surprised walking in. It gives the feel of a cross between a restaurant and a dive bar. Locals are sprawled along the restaurant. In the corner is a Dj playing Spanish songs for Karaoke. There are flashing lights characterizing the space. We were craving $2 pupusas and we found it! I ordered the revuelta pupusa and the vegeteriana pupusa. Just as I was hoping. Hot, homey and delicious. Even when we asked to take it to go, they provided salsa and chips for us while we were waiting. The pupusas themselves were quite tasty! I enjoyed the creaminess of the revuelta and the healthiness of the veggie one. All under $5 made me really happy. Check out this quite authentic little spot. You wont regret it. read more

I went to this restaurant to get pupusas to go on a weekend. It wasn't very busy and we were approached by a waitress as soon as we walked to the bar. A member of my party was Salvadoran and spoke Spanish so they placed our order for us (9 papusas and 1 horchata). About 30 minutes after we placed our order a family of about 6 or 7 came in and ordered. In 10 minutes they received all their food (they ordered many pupusas also) and we were still waiting. We brought this to the attention of the waitress and were told our food would come soon "sweet heart". After another 10 minutes (so about an hour in total) our 9 pupusas finally arrived. We were not given the drink we ordered. The pupusas were good but no one likes bad service. To make it worse, I thought that we were possibly receiving bad service due to having black people in our group and my friend who placed the order thought that may actually be the real reason why we were made to wait so long. I really hope race wasn't the reason for our bad service. Regardless, I do not think I will return. read more

The quality of the food is great. It's truly tasteful and satisfying but unfortunately the wait time is horrible. I have been here a couple times now and it just keeps getting worse. You can order food to go or just come in and eat but expect to wait a minimum of 45 mins either way, for something that should truly take 20mins. I'm writing this review while waiting on my food that should have been ready 30 mins before I arrived to pick up. I haven't been asked if I would like a glass of water to drink. Seems they start cooking the food when you get to the restaurant even though I ordered the food 30 mins ago. While seating here patiently waiting on my lunch break. I noticed they only have one waiter for the whole restaurant. It's truly unfair for the customers and the waiter herself. I had the worst experience ordering pupusas to go. The lady who took my order over the phone repeated it back to me so I didn't think there would be a problem. When I went to pick it up even though there was hardly any customers it took a long time. Three ladies at the cash register speaking to each other and moving very slow in anything they were doing. Mostly talking to each other. Finally I pay and leave with my order. Got home to see they got everything wrong. I said no cheese so many times while placing my order. In fact I also said "no queso" just to make sure she got it right. Called them to explain that my order wasn't correct. They put a guy on the phone who I later realized was a customer who was trying to translate for them. Returning the food was another nightmare. They all just stood there looking at me. A lady ( another customer) who saw that I needed help tried translating on my behalf even though I can speak conversational Spanish. It was just poor customer service. And very slow as well. It looks more like a bar than a restaurant with some creepy guys in there. read more
