    I was so excited to try this place especially the rotisserie chicken but I was super underwhelmed. The pics looked sooo good but it was just ok. We got a whole chicken with two sides and the side of fries was such a huge portion but were not seasoned well. We also ordered the Peruvian chow mein, and that tasted much better than the chicken. The service was quite slow but friendly. There were several tables to dine in but we ordered to go.

    Starting from the moment we walked in, a fabulous meal. Warmly greeted and an indepth walk-thru of the menu. So many choices! I had two queso tacos, chicken and pastor with pineapple. Both were fantastic. Wife had a chicken/pesto sandwich and was very pleased. While a counter service restaurant, everything was prepared fresh and there was plenty of seating in bright, clean dining room. Highly recommend!

    Can't have enough of Peruvian food! Can't have enough of Pollo A La Brasa! Best pollo a la brasa I've ever had. Portion size is more than enough. Customer service is great, very friendly staff. I also tried there Berry agua fresca which was very refreshing and delicious. House flan is on point! Highly recommend coming here instead of other local Peruvian spots (I've tried most). Quality and Quantity

    Quarter chicken combo. Mid. If you're craving that classic pollo a la brasa flavor this isn't it. Rice was good though.

We shared a side of fried plantains. I'm a sucker for a lot of fusion-esque burritos that wrap up traditional cuisine dishes in a flour tortilla. The tortilla usually tastes of higher quality (ALWAYS a highlight) and I was most interested in having a familiar dish spun a little differently. It did not disappoint when it came to the expected flavoring of the veggies and lomo saltado style steak. There was plenty of filling and it sang with the aji verde and orange pepper sauces, but it ultimately was not a revelation. The traditional Lomo Saltado plate was not culinary brilliance either, but it was the favored of the two selections, as it featured the grill in the back of the kitchen more effectively. Anything that is exemplary of mainstay dishes from a regional category is still very special, and this plate will be worth returning for. That, and of course the Inka Cola I've always had to order with my Peruvian plates, where available. This place boasts really good roasted chicken and when you see working men order the la brasa by the basketfull for lunch, you start making conclusions about what an authentic experience at an establishment looks like. So we plan to eat what the regulars do upon the next visit. We weren't burned for starting with the cow though. Guess I had to have my birthday steak one way or another.

This was one of those dining experiences that sticks with you, and not just because the food was amazing, but because the hospitality made it feel like you were being welcomed into someone's home. We started with the Yuca Frita with Huancaína, and it was the perfect introduction to the menu. The yuca fries were fried beautifully, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The huancaína sauce was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. That yellow sauce had a subtle warmth and depth without overpowering the yuca. It was comforting, and impossible to stop dipping. Next up was the Lomo Saltado and woah this dish alone is worth the visit. We ordered it with ribeye and chicken thigh, and the combination was incredible. Everything was sauteed perfectly with onions, tomatoes, and cilantro, creating that classic savory, tangy, umami-packed flavor Peruvian cuisine is known for. The meat was tender and juicy, the vegetables were cooked just right, and the French fries soaked up all that flavor beautifully. Served alongside fluffy white rice, it was hearty, soooo satisfying, and incredibly well balanced. You could tell this dish was made with intention and experience. We also tried the calamari which was another solid hit. And a first for me! Lightly fried, tender, and not rubbery at all. It was clearly fresh and cooked properly. It paired really well with everything else on the table and made for a great shareable dish. But the real star of the night was a dish that completely surprised my partner and I! It ended up being our favorite dish, and it was the Tigre de Leche. THIS was hands down one of the freshest, most vibrant things we tried. The citrus was bold and super lemony, in the best way possible. You could taste the lime juice, the chile, onion, and cilantro all working together to create something bright, refreshing, and layered. It was zesty, slightly spicy, and incredibly clean tasting. One of those dishes where every spoonful wakes up your palate. If you're a ceviche fan or just love bold citrus flavors, do NOT skip this. It is a definite MUST try. Another thing that deserves a special mention is their iconic green sauce. It seriously went with everything we ordered. Creamy, herby, and just the right amount of kick, it elevated every dish from the yuca and calamari to the Lomo Saltado. We found ourselves reaching for it nonstop. Seriously one of those sauces you immediately wish you could take home. The customer service truly elevated the entire experience. Fabrisio, the owner, was phenomenal!He took the time to personally explain each dish, walk us through the flavors, and even share the story of how his restaurant came to be. You can feel the passion he has. Not just for Peruvian cuisine, but for creating a welcoming space for people to enjoy it. Super nice guy, super chill, and genuinely down-to-earth. The whole place gave off strong family vibes, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Shoutout to Melissa as well, who was serving us. She was attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever making us feel rushed. The service felt thoughtful and personal, not transactional. So we went to Chios well the parking lot is very easy to park, it is adjacent to sizzler's restaurant. My friend Laurence chose a chicken tamal, Peruvian style, and fried plantains. My friend Evelyne chose a vegetarian Tallarin, with green fettuccine, and a bowl of vegetables, since she's vegetarian! At first, they had brought her the tallarin with the chicken milanesa, but she returned the order since she's vegetarian, and received the tallarin with vegetables: shereally love it! And personally, I ordered de aguatito de Pescado y mariscos: it is a green colored seafood soup, with peas and rice; it was my first time ordering that and I really liked it although I thought the green broth was a little bit too thin so I ordered a little more rice to put in it! On one such date night, our most recent, Chio's managed to deliver what they usually do - filling Peruvian fare that contributed even more to the confidence that we'll eat here again down the line. We're grateful to have a Peruvian place in the neighborhood (we're lucky enough to be in the middle of the two Van Nuys locations) and the time has come to talk about it. I got the pasta sampler - the Fettuccine Dos Sabores - house made pesto fettucine; a not-quite-Alfredo, Peruvian cheese fettucine, both topped with steak and grated parmesan. I'd be remiss not to mention the au jus that made the creaminess of both pastas shine. The result was a savory steak and pasta dish that almost ate like a cheesy stew - which worked. I had enough of the cheese sauce in my beard to attest to the positive experience. And the spouse got Tacu Tacu a Lo Pobre, Chio's crunchy rice plate. It was alluring because the crunchy rice included beans in its makeup. Of course, served with grilled steak, a fried egg and fried plantains. The spouse observed the menu and Yelp pictures, and she thought it looked as advertised. She just wasn't sure if the rice and beans were supposed to be crunchier. She would have appreciated more of a bite in that direction. Sometimes, the good places don't need to be four and five stars to be gems. The ones that are alright, that you don't mind coming back to, to have at your faves or try something new, the continued patronage says it all. Looking forward to having us another meal at Chio's soon enough.
