We came here on a Friday night and the place had a steady trickle of people. We got the spinach empanada, vegan plate and the bandeja paisa, which is a standard Colombian plate. The vegan plate had black beans, white rice, plantains, and a side salad. The bandeja paisa had beans, a fried egg, chicharron, steak, rice, plantain, and chorizo. The meat was perfectly grilled but the chicharron was a little tough but still good. The vegan plate had much flavor -- the beans were tasty and the rice fresh. They were very generous with the plantains. The complimentary tortilla chips and salsa were so fresh and delicious. The spinach empanada was a little tough - it was crispy but there was less spinach than I would have expected and the cheese in it wasn't really melted either. Overall the food was very fresh and delicious. Parking can be tricky bc their lot fits only 3 cars. We parked a couple blocks in the neighborhood. Front of the store parking also seems limited. Service was kind and efficient. Food came out in less than 5-10 minutes. Place is well decorated and has nice seemingly traditional decor inside. read more

It's unfortunate this is the only option around this area. The food is good but the customer service lacks. For a family restaurant they don't mind letting a bunch of guys get drunk and curse loudly in this small restaurant. When you go to check out they will avoid you to finish their DoorDash orders. Once I found a go-to dish at La Maria I increased my visits, and in doing so decided to really go through the menu and try dishes ol' whitey here had (in some cases) never heard of. Doing this has made this restaurant impress me more and more. The food here is just excellent, and I've learned and expanded my favorites each year. The staff is always accommodating to my questions (and middling pronunciation) and also helpful with suggestions and substitutions. New favorites have been the special Arroz Mixto (if this is on the special list, go for it!), Pesto Salmon, Pollo Encebollado and Pollo en Salsa Verde among others. I don't understand why this place doesn't have at minimum a 4.5. The food is so tasty, the portions are massive, and the value for the money is incredible. The food here is fantastic, and the only reason I'm giving if four stars is because I got my food to go, so I can't speak much about the service. Parking is a bit tricky though; I ended up parking on a nearby street and just walked a short distance. I tried the spinach empanadas, which were delicious and packed with flavor. We stopped here on our way out of SoCal before we headed to the airport. There are not that many Colombian restaurants in NorCal, so when we are in SoCal we try to go to a Colombian restaurant. It was a nice day so we sat outside (we also had our pupper, so outside was a must). The restaurant itself is small and cozy. Outside there were about 10 tables. The service was quick, we ordered Colombian hot chocolates, but it did not come with the queso (cheese), so we had to ask for it. We were charged for each order. For entries, we ordered the Pollo en salsa criolla for me and the pollo sudado for hubby, both were excellent. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful with the menu choices. Mostly, I just wanted to try a real Colombian beer because I've become so accustomed to the smooth and nutty flavors of Colombian coffees.
