Detoured off I40 a little on a road trip to have lunch and was not disappointed. The service was quick and the food was great. Sat on the patio all by myself since I had my dog and the weather was not that hot. It was clean and quiet. Had the Enchilada Oklahoma and a Patron Perfect Margarita. First time in. Small thing, but we loved the ice in the drinks. Salsa and chips were good, but our server never brought more after we requested it. We had to go up front to get more. The breakfast tacos were great tasting. My taco came with lettuce, even though I'd requested none. So I had to remove the lettuce and of course the cheese with it. Food was otherwise great. Prompt friendly service, clean environment, good food. We finally found a good restaurant since moving to Oklahoma from San Diego. The Margaritas are very tasty! The staff is very attentive and friendly. I usually get the beef fajitas. I would skip the burritos, though, they're very plain and nothing to write home about. Hot salsa is available if what you get with the chips isn't spicy enough. The prices are VERY reasonable, and we go there as often as we can. read more

Is it a cartel or a syndicate? Yep, they operate in a failed American cuisine restaurant building, in the small town of Gore OK. Unlike many small town OkieMex restaurants though, El Largo is a clean, noticeably well-maintained building, with excellent air conditioning. It is roomy and nicely decorated, (for Halloween today). The food is very good and priced to provide a good value in today's economy. The service is fast and friendly. They have a bar. So, here is their deal. The combo menu has just about any Mexican food item you can think of, in as many combinations, that you can come up with. The best part of the deal is, a single meal is priced at $9.79. If you order two combo meals the total price for the two is $15.99. You save enough to make a good down payment on a big bowl of queso. That is what we did. El Lago seems to be very generous with the queso. If you order it on your food instead of red sauce you will be happy! My wife had a beef enchilada, beef burrito and a relleno. I had a beef taco, a beef enchilada, and a relleno. Check the pictures, you can see that the restaurant was not stingy with the queso. All items were packed with beef! The taco, enchilada, and burrito were average. The rellenos had a very thin, fried, light batter coating over a very fresh poblano. filled with cheese. I liked it because it wasn't a big pile of fried greasy breading. The salsa served with the chips were very good. Nice flavors and nice heat in the picante salsa. Excellent mixed with the queso or applied liberally on the food. This was an enjoyable meal. Take note; prices shown in the Yelp menu pictures are outdated, as are the prices on the restaurant's website. I only captured the combo menu which is current as of this review. I recommend the combo menu. For 31 bucks plus a tip, we had great service, two tasty meals, two soft drinks and queso. Being curious, I talked with "El jefe" on duty. I am seeing a pattern that many, many of the small-town Oklahoma based Mexican restaurants are actually chains. Sure enough! The cartel or syndicate of owners, operate El Largo, and restaurants in Warner, Ft. Gibson, and Checotah; all with different names. The enchilada with carne asada was very good but when I was asked if I wanted cheese on my cheddar enchilada I said no which was a mistake. The cheese enchilada was bland without the salsa. The restaurant is nice and open Very authentic and service was excellent. read more

Stopped for lunch around 11:15am Sunday morning. We were quickly greeted and seated. The music was a smidge loud, but we were still able to hold a convo. Salsa was good but chips needed salt. Crispy beef taco, cheese enchilada with cheese sauce, rice & beans were all delicious. The queso on the enchilada was one of the best I've had. And the refried beans were seasoned perfectly, not bland like so many others. We'll definitely return next time we find ourselves in Gore! read more

We met up with some acquaintances for a visit and dinner out. They suggested El Lago, so we went(my husband and i). This was our first trip here. From the road you don't think too much of it(to be perfectly honest). But when you walk in, and wait to be seated, it sort of reminds you of a quaint trip through a street market in Mexico. During this dinner I had the steak street tacos with cilantro and lime with a side of rice and beans with a Dr.Pepper(seen in the pictures). My husband had one of the lunch specials for dinner(made with ground beef, a side of rice and bean, and queso with a kick flavor wise and to drink sweet tea). The street tacos were the perfect way to close the evening, before heading home. The husband found the ground beef to be the perfect grind in the dish he chose(and he's pretty picky about that). Tbe staff was very nice. When it came to which meal I preferred, I would have to say the street tacos(perfect portion and not real heavy). They also had a beautifully decorated holiday tree and the ornaments were nicely done.(whoever did the ornaments with restaurant name, you did a great job). So, on your next Taco Tuesday you find yourself in Gore, stop by El Lago and give them a try. read more

Staff were awesome. Place is clean and well decorated. Our food was fresh and hot...it just lacked any flavor. I ordered a cheese and onion enchilada but it had almost no taste and the tortilla almost seemed mushy. Maybe it got steamed? Street tacos were ok but again no much flavor. This is a small town restaurant that performs big. The food is always good and arrives warm. Menu items are exactly as pictured or listed on the menu. I usually stick to one or two items each time I go, I'm not a very adventurous eater. Food is exactly identical each time. We usually leave with leftovers. We ordered off the menu online, we decided on the 2 meals for $12.99 and 2 extra salsa's for $.75 each. When I called to place the order over the phone, I stated I would like to order the 2 meals for $12.99 and continued to place my order all while the woman on the phone never said anything about a price increase. We get up to the restaurants drive through window and the worker says it's going to be $19.76. I asked Mam, why is it so much? I just got a couple extra salsa's that were $.75 each and our meals were only $12.99. She said your meals are $8.00 each and the salsa is like you said $.75 each. Which brings your total to $19.76 I stated that on their online menu it was $12.99 she said that she knew that, and that it's a lot of work to change their online menu. At the end of the day, I feel like I was mislead and I would had probably ordered something different if I knew it was gonna be that much for smaller portion meals. The name of the Restaurant is El Lago aka The Lake Restaurant The Restaurant is just a few miles from Lake Tenkiller, aka Tenkiller Ferry Lake...a beautiful blue water lake in eastern Oklahoma. The location of this Restaurant in Gore, OK is located between the Arkansas River and the Illinois. - a few miles to each. Great place for fishing and spending time with Family. The enchiladas are my favorites and I also have them grill some jalapenos on the side for me. I also enjoy their salsa, chips, and cheese sauce provided complimentary.
