Came into town for the Powersports Expo and decided to try this place for dinner. We ordered brisket, pulled pork, green beans, and mac & cheese. Brisket: 8.5/10 -- tender with solid flavor. Pulled Pork: 2/10 -- zero flavor, skip it. Green Beans: 9.5/10 -- surprisingly awesome. Mac & Cheese: 8/10 -- creamy and comforting. Overall, I'd definitely go back--but the pulled pork won't be joining me.

It was packed when we pulled up...the locals know how great the food is!

We were at a swimming hole in the area and a group of people recommended Runts to us so we had to try it on the way out of town. We were so glad we did. Yummy bbq and the sides were really good too. Hubby got the all you can eat BBQ and we said everything he tried was good! The ribs looked amazing as well as the burnt ends but no sharing of the all you can eat so I didn't try anything but the chopped brisket meal with mashed potatoes that are the lumpy kind with some skins in them plus they made some great fried okra. Service was great! Huge drinks so refills didn't need to happen as often. My husband appreciates those giant cups! Shelby was our server and she was on it! We only go to Muskogee 1-2 times a year but we'll make a point of going back to Runts!

We are here for the end of the month, "last Saturday of the month" all you can eat smoked crab leg dinner. That is the only day you will have this opportunity unless they change it.. The all you can eat crab legs comes with one side, we chose a regular baked potato. This visit was absolutely worth it. You will need to get here early before the dinner rush. After 5 pm the wait lists will be long. I can't imagine standing outside in the cold weather temps waiting on crab legs, but I'm certain there are patrons that will. We were lucky for our party of three to get table after a short 15 minute wait. Have a great time.. be sure to tip your table staff.

This is good BBQ. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is a typical well-worn Oklahoma BBQ shack. Rustic décor: barn tin, stuffed animals, walls of rough-cut lumber and a hint of hickory smoke in the air.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My wife had the burnt end sandwich with potato salad. This was smokey, tangy beef burnt ends, sandwiched between two slices of thick buttered Texas toast. Absolutely recommended. The sides here are excellent. I had jalapeno black eyed peas with my "Salty Dog." The Salty Dog is an unusual version of a Ruben: two meaty, spicey hot links, sliced, with kraut, Swiss cheese, and mustard between two slices of rye. A great combination of flavors, but challenging to eat. The casings on the links were a little tough; making a clean bite on the sandwich was impossible. It turned into a tasty knife and fork sandwich. The service is prompt, attentive, small town friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]An opportunity for improvement: the parking area in the back. Unfortunately, today, the only spot available was by the dumpster and the recycle grease bin. It smelled back there, like dirty diapers, spoiled milk, and rancid grease. The area looked as bad as it smelled. The leaking or overflowing fermented juices had drained onto the parking lot. A challenge to navigate when first stepping out of your vehicle. After that smell, man do I really want to eat here? Do not Park back there. A little attention to clean this area, would greatly improve a customer's first impression[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. It still rates in my opinion, as the best BBQ in Muskogee!

The Ribs were fantastic and the staff were incredible. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place had a rustic feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The ribs absolutely rocked and absorbed the mesquite smoke and were extremely tender but were cooked perfectly so they didn't fall off the bone. The black eyed peas were on point. The sliced brisket was good but the smoke was mild. Nice size portions and worth the money.

Runts has become my go-to favorite BBQ in the area this year. Great tasting food with a wide selection of meats. The best value is the all-you-can-eat deal. They load you up from the start, so I almost never finish the first serving to order more & I still feel the price is great. I believe you must order catfish, grilled chicken, or grilled shrimp on your first order if you want to try those, but any other meat is available on each order. You get to pick two sides and can also pick different sides on your refill servings. It's a popular place, so get there early because they don't take reservations.

Love this place. I think they have the best Bar-B-Que restaurant in Muskogee. Tender meats not over cooked or w/ excessive smoke. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is always packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My only issue with them is the fact that they have no drive thru. They need one because it can be chaotic waiting for a called in or to go order with so many folks either waiting to be seated or waiting for orders.

Fried shrimp dinner with Mac n cheese and green beans. Appetizer in back

Runts is a Muskogee classic, but our dinner experience this time for a Thursday night dinner was just okay. Service was quick. The inside of the dining area is the same as always. But the food just wasn't quite as good. No removal of the membrane on the ribs. My favorite appetizer of fried pickles, onions, add jalapeno, didn't actually have any jalapeños. And it was way too salty. Mac n cheese was like velveeta but less flavor. I hope it was just an off night.

Runts definitely has a reputation for having good BBQ. That being said, I was rather disappointed with this visit. I had the half rack of ribs with baked beans and fried okra. We also ordered the fried pickles and onions and added jalapeños (there wasn't a single jalapeño present). The batter was very salty. I only ate a few and couldn't eat anymore due to how salty it was. I normally will rate a BBQ restaurant based on their ribs and sides. These ribs were cooked pretty well. I could've used more pull off the bone. These would fall apart as you tried to pick them up. The rub was very bland. No heat at all. Looks like they just added paprika for color. I was hoping the baked beans would redeem the ribs but they were also pretty vanilla. They almost had a ketchup taste to them and not enough brown sugar. The okra was unfortunately overcooked. I'm hoping I just caught them on a bad night but this has kind of been the norm the last several times I've been. They definitely don't skimp on the ranch at least.

Was told this is the place to go for BBQ in Muskogee. The place is small but seems to be a location that all the locals like. They do not take reservations at all. So if you have a large group you may have issues. Sweet tea is on The menu here. Park lot is small so plan to park next door if you need to Ordered the full rack and the taste is good. There are two sauces and regular and hot. Enjoyed the hot as it just a slight spicy side. I was disappointed in the baked potato as it must have been cooking all day. I suggest swapping out after a few hours. You do get butter in a container and a package of sour cream but again the potato was over cooked.

Based on this experience, well, I can't imagine visiting in person. First the order. The intent was to have brisket with cole slaw and baked beans. The Togo container was conveniently labeled as CB CS & BB. When I opened the container a miracle had occurred and the sides the Lord decided I needed were potato salad and okra. And now the food. The chopped brisket is a mound of dry chopped meat mush, probably sauced but hard to tell, and fully lacking the smoky umami expected of BBQ. Holy Smokes there's no smoke. It's as if they borrowed their recipe and process from the Muskogee High School cafeteria. The sauce is interesting but not good. Not at all good. It has a hint of being like the Knotty Pines when that was open in Sand Springs but it's a poor quality mimeograph. Clearly made in house but by far not the best sauce in Muskogee, I gave praise that there was so little. The potato salad was a Glorified Side, but in that ironic sarcastic way that says purchased at Walmart in a 5 pound container. A friend had cole slaw, probably a convenience slaw, possibly a homemade dressing. But a common cole slaw with little to recommend it. The okra was excellent, but that's an expectation in Oklahoma. For $13.00, it was an $8.00 meal with untoasted bread. This was by far one of the least impressive BBQ meals I have ever had and I've had BBQ all over Oklahoma and Texas. So extremely disappointing and my money will be saved for somewhere that has basic BBQ down. Ok so now after writing this far I've learned (because my party ate in different locations in the office for social distancing) that the labels on several of the to go containers were wrong and I likely got pulled pork - which is so freaking disgusting and something I would never order or eat had I known and I'm going to go throw up. GAH. Absolutely unacceptable.

Potato salad, very different, a startling texture. The potatoes are diced into very small cubes. Taste decent. The Cajun Slaw, spicey, unusual, excellent. The pulled pork very good. And finally, the beans, mixed with small chunks of smoked bologna. Good, but by the time I worked my way down to the beans I was stuffed. A rich filling cup of food.
