Luckily this place was able to take a last minute reservation for our large family of 9. It's always challenging to serve our group because there's 3 teenagers who seem to need a lot of extra things - another juice, some sauce, a second entree.... The grandparents are involved offering their sides to the kids, need extra plates, a To Go container. And always one person in our group is missing their meal, no matter what restaurant we go to. Then the server is back in the kitchen to find out what happened and finally, it arrives. We had an extra layer of chaos since none of us speak Spanish, so some of the special requests were not translating. I ordered a Shrimp Burrito ($12.28 + $3.80 guacamole + $2.60 shrimp) with no red or green sauce on top, but I still wanted the sour cream and guacamole, lettuce and tomato. I received a completely dry burrito. The server said those things were inside. I just ordered a side of sour cream ($2.00 ea - charged for 2?) and we already had guacamole as an appetizer, so it worked out. The restaurant is very bright and colorful, it's a very festive place. My husband and I came here last night before going to Movie Tavern. I really like how open and spacious the inside of the restaurant is. This is perfect if you're going on a date night or a group of friends. Our server was really friendly and when I asked her what she recommended she was very knowledgeable and offered many suggestions. I tried the steak enchiladas for the first time and felt so stuffed upon leaving. The mote sauce was great with the enchilada. I must admit, I am always skeptical of most of the places my husband chooses whether that be a hotel, airbnb etc. but I decided to give El Limon a try at his suggestion since I was starving and Mexican sounded really good. I must say that it was shocking when we got there n it seemed like nice authentic spot. Real Hispanic culture immersed in the decor right down to the food. Their chips, Salsa and Guacamole was so authentic and mouth watering that all my taste buds sprung to life with the first bite. My 7 yr old daughter who is normally a picky eater tried the guacamole out of hunger and ended up asking for more. Now that was surprising. I ordered the usual beef taco and I was not disappointed at all. Just after 2 I was stuffed. Their margarita was also delicious and strong. We will be returning! We have eaten at this El Limon location a few times, usually through delivery. Tonight we ordered through Grubhub and there was a hair stuck inside one of the chips. When I saw it I tried to just get rid of it but the hair was cooked into the chip. I don't know if they make homemade tortillas or not (doesn't really matter) but someone was obviously not wearing a covering for their hair in the kitchen! I got the chicken enchiladas and had only eaten one of them when I found the hair. I tried to keep eating but I just couldn't. My dinner ended up in the garbage can. Usually I love this place and have been to their Flourtown and Ambler locations many times. Tonight was the first time i have ordered from them in a few months and I was extremely disappointed!! I ordered barbacoa tacos that were basically inedible! They had a clump of fat with a few pieces of meat attached to it! Gross! It was that last bit when you are pulling beef or pork that is usually the piece that is trashed , well that was what was in my tacos tonight. Hopefully this was an accident because this has never happened before. I also ordered beef empanadas which i have ordered many times before and have had no issues with .. tonight they were very doughy and had just ground beef in them. ( no seasoning and no cheese!) My son had the Tinga tacos and he said they were ok but it seemed like the meat was microwaved because it was all stuck together. My husband had the barbacoa burrito and had the opposite problem i had saying that he had barely any meat in his burrito but if he had ordered a rice burrito then it would have been great because it was mostly rice. As some reviews have mentioned, CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU PAY!!! They do not give you an itemized receipt after you pay. We came here on a Sunday afternoon for some to go tacos. My husband had went in to order 5 tacos, a side of beans and a side of rice. Of course, he never checks his receipt and somehow our bill came out to $28. After waiting for a bit for the tacos, we got our food. I was so confused why our bill was so much since the beans and rice were bite sizes. It turns out, they had added two veggie tacos to our order which we did not want/order. They also charged us extra ($1) each time that we DID NOT want cheese or sour cream. The food was okay. We had steak, carnitas and veggie tacos. The steak was flavorless, do not recommend. The carnitas was actually pretty good and full of flavor. What surprised me the most was the veggie tacos, these are actually AMAZING!! (Yes the ones that we didn't order). The rice and beans were okay but like I mentioned, probably two bites and you're done. I had tried the El Limon in Conshohocken and it was way better than this one. I've eaten in the one in Ambler, and pass by this today to try it out. The plsce is clean and quaint. I have my usual taco trio-beef tongue (don't judge), al pastor, and barbaboa (sp?). They are all good. Hubby got the fish and didn't like it. That's his fault, fish in Oct? Waitress is attentive. The magarita has no alcohol, though, unlike the one in Ambler. We ordered a dry veggie burrito, no cilantro. Not a difficult order. When we got it, there was cilantro in it (in the guacamole). We called to get a new burrito, and the woman I spoke with requested pictures of my burrito. Pictures?! Wow. The woman I spoke with was extremely rude and unaccommodating. She said she believed me, but the pictures were for the kitchen staff. Kitchen staff doesn't give a rat's ass what the patron gets. Just give me the correct burrito order! Or a refund! It could have been so simple. Instead, they lost a loyal customer. To note: I did send her the picture she wanted of the cilantro. A bit hit or miss. Brightly colored decorations, staff is friendly, decent mexican fare. Have been here a handful of times and on a couple of occasions there were some things.....like a large wad of dried refried beans scraped from the bottom pan that was rolled into our burrito. I love el limon's! I think that this is the only location I had not been to yet but I happened to be in this neck of the woods and was so pleased to see that there was an el limon there! I think the food is TREMENDOUS! That cubano sandwich is worth making the trip for and not to mention the complimentary margaritas! I was surprised that there were not more people at this location during lunch. We were served quickly, the food was great and the price is right. One flaw here were the flys! This is an update to my one star review that I posted about El Limon in Flourtown. Although stating I would never go there again I did go back. In fact I have been there 3 times since my original review and there has been tremendpus improvement. The guy who works at the counter now says "Hello" very nicely. He greets me soon as I walk in and after telling him the name of the customer whose order I am picking up he immediately goes to retrieve it. If the order is not ready he tells me it will just be "a couple minutes". So glad I went back to El Limon. Everyone deserves a chance to make things right and this gentleman is now giving his all to make a welcoming atmosphere...5 stars! read more

I dined in here before COVID and had take-out mid-COVID. Both times, I ordered the nachos with chicken, but they refused to put the toppings on the side, which I hate, because all of the crispy nachos turn to mush, especially when you order take-out. For my take-out request, I asked that the tomatillos at the very least would be put on the side, but alas - they neglected to follow that request. I much prefer the other El Limon in Ambler, which is a bit more run-down, but much tastier [and they put all the toppings on the side]! I do like the Flourtown building because it's newer, feels cleaner, and just for the fact that it's much closer, but to be honest, I think I'd rather drive an extra 15 minutes and go through the pain of street parking in Ambler for the quality of food and service. read more

Ordered about $40 worth of food, sometimes the order is wrong and they don't give extra condiments like hot sauce. I asked for more than 1 container and they wanted to charge me $$ when I asked. I have a gluten allergy and they almost always mess that up and give us flour tortillas. Out shopping and in the area where we were there was a cheese cake factory. So at 8pm we were told an hour wait. Are you kidding me people 8pm on a Monday stay home for crying out loud. So on my Yelp app i go. Saw the reviews and decided to do Mexican, El Limon it is. We pull in parking lot and the place looks very clean. Inside we were greeted by very colorful walls and the floors were clean. The lighting inside is like a cheap LED you get in low end pizza joints. But hey need to save money somewhere right? We ordered Tinga chicken nachos, Tinga chicken burrito and beef burrito. A sign on the table says free Margaritas but guess what they are out this evening. Go figure. But hey guess what 10 min after ordering the Margaritas appeared it's like a magic show poof!!! And they are magically delicious. The Nachos with cheese and chicken is here. The chips are home made, it even came with guacamole and that also is homemade with nice chunks. The chicken is so plentiful, for an appetizer this should be on the dinner menu it's huge and delicious. The burrito came and again big portion. It's mostly rice inside with a third of meat. However for $9.95 I honestly can't complain. It's a little dry by itself, however they give you three sauces to accompany it. Chipotle, Mole and Tomatillo. The chipotle sauce has a great smoke flavor and was my favorite. With the burrito dipped in sauce the meal was excellent. My girlfriend Andrea chicken Burrito was not shredded chicken but filled with chunks and chunks and was also excellent. The food here is completely authentic. At the end of meal the bill with tax was $31. And our waiter Haden was professional, helpful and courteous. All in all the meals are fresh the portions are enormous and the price is perfect. For restaurants of this caliber this is a very strong 4. Great job chef I will return when back in the area. read more

Their food is great, but I cannot stress this enough: CHECK YOUR ORDER AND MAKE SURE YOU GOT WHAT YOU PAID FOR. The last time I went to pick up my food I already knew there would be something wrong with my food. When I received my order, I began opening up all the boxes on the counter and found that they gave me the wrong food. The staff there was nice enough about it and corrected the issue, but what blew my mind was that there were half a dozen other people waiting for pickup who watched me open my food bag and saw that my order was wrong, and yet not one of them checked their own order before leaving. Have successfully ordered takeout in the past over the phone. The last 2 times online have been a complete disaster! My youngest son order loaded nachos pastor (as the meat), no pico de gallo. Online it requires that you answer the extra meat question. The options are 'extra meat' or 'no thanks'. We selected 'no thanks for extra meat'. I specifically put in the notes "Please don't forget the meat. Last time the order came without meat." Guess what? NO MEAT AT ALL!!! Tipped both times for a wrong order. It just eats at you.
