    Carnitas taco salad!!
    Nathan D.

My favorite Mexican food in sonoma county! My go to is the carnitas taco salad, the carnitas is always super flavorful. I love the salsa here also, tortilla chips could be a little better but the food is so damn good they get a pass !!! Cheers !!

We love this little Mexican gem. We've been coming here for years now. Whenever we make our way up to Russian River. Sometimes we'll stop on the way up or sometimes on the way home. This place has always been extremely satisfying with very solid food. I've had everything here from burritos to nachos to tacos, and I have to say that everything I've had here has been delicious. This is not a restaurant where you can eat inside. I just wanna let people know that from the start. They do have a lovely area outside, which is particularly nice when it's sunny. In the time we were here I noticed there was a ton of people picking up takeout. Not surprising. There is a little area inside where you order. The people that work here are always so kind and accommodating. We came here yesterday. There was five of us: two adults, two teenagers, and a toddler. We ordered several street style tacos. Chorizo, Carne Asada, chicken, and Carnitas. All were delicious. The carnitas was especially yummy. They were served on two little tortillas that were lightly griddled to give it a little crisp. I love that. In my experience, I feel like so many taquerias will at best give you a warmed up corn tortilla. I feel like they put a lot of care into their tacos, which means a lot to me. Sometimes the best things to eat are the simplest things, but sometimes the simplest things don't get treated with the respect they deserve. The salsa that they serve here with the chips is also really good. Nice heat, but not overly spicy. My stepdaughter ordered super carnitas nachos with "yellow cheese." They give you the option between mozzarella or "yellow cheese". I thought that it would be cheddar cheese but it was actually queso. Delicious, creamy, liquid gold. Now i don't typically order nachos with liquid gold (although I'm not above that!) unless I'm drunk and at a 7/11, but these were bomb. To all the people that have their own specific rules and opinions as to how you eat something or how you believe something should not be eaten, I can totally relate on many levels. But rules are also meant to be broken so a rule above all rules: If something tastes good to you then there are no rules. Some people might put their nose up to that, but not me! It was delicious. Although I think it would be equally delicious with the mozzarella. I also loved that it came served with jalapeños and sliced avocado rather than guacamole. Those were put on the side so you won't see it in the picture. This is a fantastic little spot. Thank you for all the wonderful food and terrific service!

Outdoor seating. Order inside first. (2 people allowed inside to order at a time.) El pastor tacos!! Amazing! Was incredibly satisfied with my taco and enchilada plate. (See pic!)

This place was bomb. On our way back from a weekend in Monte Rio our friend suggested going here for lunch. Patio was dog friendly, food on point. To order food, the entrance has some meat locker plastic and a two person minimum but the guys were friendly and you can tell they had their operation down. I got the taco salad with carnitas. So good, big chunks of avocado, yummy cheese and salad, beans and rice on the bottoms. The chips were hella good and salsa had a kick. We also got the guacamole which was a little spicy but great as it has small diced jalapeño peppers in it. I would def go back and try the burritos or the enchiladas

SUPER good Mexican food that is bursting with flavor while staying well balanced. It's exactly the place you want to go to to get some food before a traveling or fishing adventure. This place has one of the best carne asada burritos I've ever had! Service is set up as a to-go place with seating. It's a two person operation with the interior kitchen taking up most of the space. You walk in, order, and get a seat on the patio. They can seat about five groups which is good for the town of occidental. Super chill and quick service. If you are nearby and want some tacos or burritos, it's the place! Highly recommend the supreme carne asada burrito. Ps. Chips and salsa here are done right, don't sleep on them. Fresh tortilla chips with spicy, chunky salsa. Other shops gotta stop salting everything to hell and learn!

My wife can't stop talking about the Bumblebee Latte, lol. This time I got a dirty chai and it was great. See pics for the Daybreak food we scarfed down right there. When we got to the cafe, they had already sold out of breakfast burritos and croissants, but this seemed to be par for the course at every eatery in Bodega Bay between Christmas and New Year's. It's hard to hold it against them. My wife raved about her Bumblebee Latte and though I like my coffee strong and black, it did look good. We got two breakfast croissant bagels (substituting for the sold out croissants) and they were delicious! Service was excellent and relatively fast, considering they had a non-stop stream of customers. No space inside to eat, but chairs and tables by the parking lot, which was large compared to virtually every other place in Bodega Bay. We didn't eat there, we took our breakfast and drove a hundred yards up the road to the Bodega Dunes Campground which has a lovely day use picnic area (there is an entry fee). Loved everything, but we're going to try to be early enough to score the burritos next time.

Even before you reach the counter, the aroma of freshly baked sourdough and warm scones drifts through the air. A long line winding outside, but it feels less like waiting and more like the beginning of a ritual. Once you have your bag of baked goods and a cup of freshly brewed coffee, you wander into the garden, and this is where the experience becomes truly magical. Behind the bakery is a lush, meandering labyrinth of California wildflowers, berry vines, vegetables, and herbs. Raspberry and blackberry branches form leafy arches overhead. Sculptural artichoke plants rise from the earth with their beautiful buds intact. Dinosaur kale peeks out between flowers and shrubs. Unexpected pops of color everywhere you look. The garden feels abundant and slightly untamed, but never accidental. It is the kind of setting that makes you slow down, look more closely, and feel as though you have stumbled into a secret place. Eventually, the path opens into a small rustic seating area with picnic tables and chairs. We sat there surrounded by wildflowers and berry vines, drinking coffee and doing a full scone tasting. It was one of those simple but perfect mornings when all of your senses seem fully awake. CREAM CHEESE RASPBERRY BLACKBERRY SCONE- was extraordinary and easily my favorite. The filling-to-dough ratio was perfect. The scone had a beautifully tender, crumbly texture, with generous pockets of tart berries and whipped cream cheese that tasted almost like crème fraîche. The restraint was what made it so special. The cream cheese had no sugar, it remained rich, tangy, and creamy, allowing the sharpness of the raspberries and blackberries to come through. It was one of the best scones I have ever had. MEYER LEMON, MANGO SCONE - was equally thoughtful and completely unexpected. Meyer lemon zest was folded throughout the dough, so every bite had a delicate citrusy brightness. Small pieces of mango appeared in between, adding just enough tropical sweetness. I would never have instinctively paired Meyer lemon and mango, but the balance was exquisite - floral, tart, fragrant, and gently sweet. This was my daughter's favorite. MAPLE PECAN BLUEBERRY SCONE - was the sweeter option. The blueberries added their deep, jammy richness, plenty of pecans added earthy crunch, while the light maple glaze offered warmth without overwhelming it. It was indulgent, but still beautifully balanced. This is the one I would choose for someone with a sweet tooth. JALAPEÑO CORNMEAL CHEESE SCONE - may have been the most surprising. It tasted like the best parts of skillet cornbread and a classic scone brought together - golden, crisp edges, a delicate, crumbly interior and the natural sweetness of cornmeal. The jalapeño was finely incorporated into the dough, creating a gentle, lingering heat rather than sharp bites of pepper. Little pockets of cheese but honestly I think it would be better without it. It was distinctive, savory, and exceptionally well judged. It would be incredible alongside barbecue or a bowl of chili. ARTICHOKE FETA SCONE - with artichokes growing in their garden this one felt connected to the bakery like the raspberry one, felt farm to table. Generous amounts of salty feta, earthy artichokes and a great crust despite being gf, the bakery shows its adeptness with gf food. CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE - this was vegan and gf and really good. Coconut flavors and great crunch make this a whole different kind of treat. FOUGASSE - ROSEMARY, POTATO, GARLIC, JACK CHEESE. Despite the number of ingredients, the bread retained the excellent structure and chew of a proper sourdough. Every bite revealed something slightly different - a fragrant note of rosemary, a garlicky edge, a soft satisfying piece of potato, or a rich pocket of cheese. FOUGASSE - SHIITAKE, CARAMELIZED ONION, BLEND OF CHEESES - this one what a umami bomb with the shiitake generous all over, the onion overpowered them a bit but with the mild and nutty cheeses, this one is a hit What stayed with me most was the sense of intention behind everything. The bakery does not seem interested in chasing novelty for novelty's sake. The flavor combinations are original because someone has genuinely thought about how tartness, sweetness, richness, texture, and aroma should work together. The ingredients taste fresh and uncompromised. The setting feels like a natural extension of the food - abundant, beautiful, earthy, and quietly extraordinary. An unforgettable little gem, and absolutely worth seeking out.

The restaurant's large windows provide beautiful waterfront views no matter where you're seated. Our waitress (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was fantastic. She mentioned she'd been there for 14 years, which says a lot in itself. She was friendly, knowledgeable about every dish, and gave us excellent recommendations. I know Caesar dressing contains anchovies, but I was hesitant about having actual fish on my salad. I'm so glad she encouraged me to try the cooked anchovies on the side--they were delicious. Perfectly salty and a great complement to the salad. The pork chop entrée was perfection! The pork was cooked beautifully, and the bread pudding side was just as memorable. I'm not entirely sure what was in it, but it reminded me of garlic bread in the best way. The applesauce was also a nice touch. The halibut was cooked perfectly as well, and the mashed potatoes practically melted in your mouth. For sides, the grilled asparagus was exactly what you'd hope for, and the crispy potatoes lived up to their name, perfectly seasoned with a great crunch. The soup of the day was a creamy spring onion soup with crispy pancetta. Although just as delicious as everything else ordered, its the one plate we wished the portion was bigger for the price it was going for. We've eaten at plenty of restaurants, but this may be the first time where every single thing we ordered--from the entrées to the sides and sauces--was a 10/10.
