We have been so disappointed the last few times we've been here. The food has gone downhill, very bland and the meat is grissly. The service is so slow and it's hard to get anybody to help you. Every single table around us was dirty by the time we left, they don't come take your dirty dishes when you're done eating. There were at least 10 dirty tables surrounding us. We were never asked if we wanted more chips or water or anything. The margaritas hardly have any tequila in them, just sour. The oysters were disgusting! And inside smells like strong cleaning product covering up other unpleasant smells. read more

May 5, 2025 - Cloverdale Cinco de Mayo - This was our second visit to La Tequila, and this time we were able to sit out on the patio. We had to wait just a bit for service after we sat down, but that was only because there was a group of 20 who had arrived just before us. But we watched as the server hustled (even ran back for orders) and were really impressed by her friendly, professional demeanor. The menu is extensive; what you want, they probably offer. I again ordered the flight of margaritas (choose 4 flavors), which is so fun, and then ordered a Costa Alegre Salad (grilled shrimp, romaine lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, onions, corn, avocado, mango, and deep fried corn tortilla strips, $16.99). The salad was fresh and delicious, the shrimp was perfect. The margaritas were great; I think my favorites were the hibiscus and the pomegranate. The patio is cheerful and fun. The service was great. Holy cow was this delicious! We sat out on the patio by the fountain and a lovely summery spring day. I had a veggie enchilada and my friend had a taco salad. Plenty of free parking; accessible to people with disabilities; booth, and tables available inside as well as a bar area. Solid new restaurant that is NOW OPEN! I've been here about 4 times since opening day primarily because of it's great location in the heart of downtown but also because the staff has always been so friendly. The first couple of times there was definitely some growing pains, but legitimately all but one concern has been remedied!! My only suggestion keeping them from 5 stars is the lack of website and phone number. Calling in an order and being able to see the menu online is crucial in 2023. Hoping an epic website launches soon and hopefully it's got the same vibe as their menu! Hint hint! (their menu is, for lack of a better term, "sexy" Large bar area and tons of dining. La Tequila Mexican Restaurant, Cloverdale, CA - August 31, 2023 We came in a little before 5 pm on a Thursday evening. They have a bar, indoor restaurant, and outdoor patio. There was smoke in the air from Northern California wildfires, so we decided to sit on the restaurant side indoors. The bar was a little noisy for us and the restaurant side was very quiet. We were just about the only people in the restaurant. They got us our menus, water, and chips and salsa right away. After a short while, the bartender from the other side, came over to get our drink orders. The menu is very extensive and as the restaurant's name implies, they have lots of tequila drinks.My wife ordered the margarita flight, which included a pomegranate margarita, spicy pineapple margarita,, Hibiscus margarita, and cucumber margarita, I ordered, the top shelf margarita. The drinks were very good. A little while later, the bartender from the bar came over to get our food order. I ordered the super burrito with Al Pastore meat and my wife ordered the chicken Molay enchilada combination plate with rice, and beans. All the food was tasty. I hope to come back the next time we're in the area. read more

I was passing through the small town of Cloverdale and started to get hungry for lunch. First of all, the building itself is really cool. You have to check it out for yourself but it's got outdoor seating, inside, and you can even sit at the bar. Water is served in empty tequila bottles which is a nice touch. I ordered the Carne Asada nachos. The waitress was very friendly and polite while I was waiting for the nachos. They brought out chips and salsa and it was really delicious. She even came back and offered me more and of course I said yes! The nachos came out looking amazing! And believe me, they tasted as good as they looked. The chips were crispy and salted perfectly. All of the toppings tasted fresh. Really delicious! After two baskets of chips and salsa, along with nachos, I was stuffed and ready to hit the road. If you're every passing through Cloverdale, you have to check out La Tequila! read more

The food was decent but the service was horrible. Everyone was nice but it seemed like they were very disorganized. We sat down and had to hunt someone down to get our drinks. Only some of the drinks came out. They gave us one basket of chips and said they would have brought more but were out of chips. Them miraculously a plethora of chips started appearing at other people's tables around us... but not for us. Our food took a while, but they were busy, so that's understandable. However, my wife's food never came. I had to hunt down a busser to ask her to hunt down our server to ask about her food. The rest of our table was done eating and they hadn't even fired her food yet. She didn't eat tonight. Hilariously, a woman and her dog sat and ordered next to us after we had placed our order and the dog got its food before the server came to clarify my wife's list order. The cartoonist B. Kliban had a cartoon in the 1970s that advised, "Never eat anything bigger than your head." The people at La Tequila never heard of this rule, judging by their burritos. They are massive, served "wet" with sauce, and overstuffed., I had the Chile Verde pork burrito and my mother had the carne asada "Macho" burrito. I powered through mine - it was delicious - and she ate a quarter of hers. The rest will make two or three more meals for her. She said hers was also delicious. Seriously will not order from here again. Does not hold a candle to the former "La Hacienda." Unbelievably overpriced, insipid, and completely unenjoyable. Extremely disappointing and bad example of Mexican food, that I know is delicious. Have tried numerous times since they reopened as "La tequila." Dissatisfied and frustrated every time. First of all when we pick up our food we realized when getting home they only gave us half of our order, when returned to the restaurant they acted confused on what was happening and we told them the situation and the rest of our food was on the counter behind the by the kitchen. We got our food, got in the car, before we left we checked our food again and noticed we didn't even get the extra tortillas we ordered in the first place this whole time as well, which they ended up giving us the wrong kind of tortillas when we told them. Than on top of that we paid for the fajita plate which is supposed to have shrimp in it, but while eating the food we found out there was no shrimp what so ever so we paid for a $30 plate but got a $23 meal. Outstanding! The food was great! The remodel is bright and cheery it made me smile. The booth was quite comfy! We have been waiting for this restaurant to open for awhile. We live in Mendocino County and don't get this way often. We made a special trip today. This reminded me of meals I had in my travels to Mexico. I loved it. Just tried this place for lunch. Eating on their lovely patio is great! Our food was great! I'd really recommend their Burrito Del Mar (seafood burrito)...so delicious! I really enjoy this new Mexican restaurant in Cloverdale! Live music on Friday nights kicks off the weekend! My favorite dish so far has been the Chile Verde! Absolutely amazing! They make an incredible Mexican pizza that the bf gobbles up every time. Their Margarita flights are highly recommended! The best way to taste all this place has going on. The bar area is a little too bright for my taste but I like that they have the dining area and the bar as options. We have gone here a number of times since they opened. I'm always eager to try new restaurants near my home, so I was looking forward to trying La Tequila. Two friends and I had lunch here, and none of us was particularly impressed. Two of us chose the shrimp salad, and the greens were dried out and wilted; it looked like they had come to the bottom of the bag. The enchiladas another friend ordered were just OK. Because of my soy sensitivity, I had communicated in advance about whether I could be accommodated. Despite the best efforts of my server, I had a soy reaction. I wanted to like this place. The restaurant seemed clean, our waitress was friendly, and other than bad molé sauce, food poisoning, and the dismissive owner, I would have liked it. The tortilla chips were thin and crisp, just right. And one of the salsas was especially good, light in color like Spanish Salsa Rosa, but we couldn't figure out what the ingredients may have been. We all ordered combination plates, and most of the food was good, but the molé was the worst I've had -- the only molé I've ever not liked. My friend, who also ordered molé, opted to scrape the sauce off of her food, which turned out to be her good fortune. She and I both got food poisoning, but I was much sicker than she. My friends who didn't have molé didn't get sick. I spoke with the owner by phone the next day. She agreed to pay us back for the two offending meals, but she hasn't followed through, and it has been a week. She made no apology, or attempt to assure me that she would fix the problem. Yesterday, I reported this to the health department. I'm writing in hopes that the owner will hear of it and feel compelled to take extra care in supervision of food handling and storage practices. And possibly be more gracious, if any of her customers get sick from eating at her restaurant in the future. read more

Their food is always good but I don't do real spicy foods so when I called the order in I got the enchilada trio and when he asked green or red sauce I was very specific and told him whichever one is NOT spicy. Yummy pina colada drink. Perfect margarita with jalapeño added. The menu had lots of interesting and different drink choices. My friend had the quesabirria plate. They looked great - kind of like a cross between tacos and quesadillas. She pronounced them delicious and filling & I'll have to I'll try them next time. I had to try the chile verde wet burrito - kind of my standard for judging a Mexican restaurant. It was also excellent. I asked for a bit more green sauce & the waitress brought it promptly. We had an amazing experience mid week at this place. The staff were wonderful, so friendly and accommodating and the food was probably the best Mexican I have ever had. Our bartender Alvaro was so wonderful and Elizabeth our server was also fantastic. The patrons started singing Mexican karaoke and even though it wasn't a busy night we had so much fun with them. Perhaps the worst meal that I have ever eaten at a restaurant. The service was horrible and when the "food" finally did arrive it was stone cold and inedible. The chicken mole was paper-thin with a taste of cheap chocolate sauce and the beans looked like slop. The owners should be truly embarrassed by the food that the kitchen put out. Not usually one to write a negative review but this spot just misses the mark on all fronts. We stumbled upon this spot on a Sunday and were excited to try it. First, the space itself is a bit confusing - there is an indoor bar, indoor dining and very expansive outdoor patio. They had someone outside on a grill making fresh tortillas which is really what excited us and brought us in, but everything fell flat from there. We were there when they had first opened, and the space was dirty. The outdoor patio had trash and food scraps from the day before all over. The chips, to our surprise, didn't appear to be homemade and were store bought. The orange salsa was delish, the only positive from the experience. We ordered a taco salad and a burrito - neither exciting dishes but also two relatively standardized items. The Taco Salad was nearly inedible. The oil the shell was cooked in tasted rancid and it was just a bit of a soupy salad without flavor. The burrito similarly was just doused in red sauce and the ingredients just thrown in. I thought the burrito had white rice in it but it turned out to just be probably a quarter to half a cup of cheese that hadn't melted and was all to one side of the burrito. The service also struggled. Everyone was very nice, just not attentive. We love Mexican food and there is a lot of good, some mediocre and some just barely edible and this unfortunately was some of the worst we've had in a very long time. read more
