It's hard to find a reasonably priced dinner in Healdsburg but Gallina D' Oro has it and it's delicious! They are located in downtown healdsburg. There is lots of street parking in the surrounding area. That being said, I visit on a Wednesday for dinner so I had no problem with parking but a Saturday night might be different. I chose to eat here on a whim because it's one of the few places open past 8pm. We had no issue with getting seated quickly and we sat outside because we had our dog with us. They were kind enough to give our dog a water bowl as well. Complimentary chips and salsa to start the meal off. The salsa tasted great and not too spicy at all. I ordered the Al pastor super burrito. The burrito was hefty and filled with delicious meat and other ingredients. The burrito was only $16 which was a great deal. My fiance ordered the quesabirria tacos and while I didn't try any, he said they were delicious and he would order them again. Visited for Lunch on a Monday. Chef Cecelia and her restaurant family do not disappoint. The tenderness and flavor of the steak fajitas was amazing and the shrimp seasoned and cooked to perfection. Tortillas are as if my Abulita just made them up fresh and brought them out. I am blow away by the freshness of her ingredients and flavors that Chef Cecelia achieves in her family feel Cocina. If I lived closer this would totally be my CHEERS. I have not even commented on the selection of Mezcal's and Tequila's that she has. Cocktails made to please where you can taste the spirit. We loved this place so much. AUTHENTIC DELICIOUS. Savory flavors even down to the chips and salsa. I had carnitas tacos with rice and beans. Fat tacos! I couldn't finish the second one, but oh I tried. The carnitas weren't saucy, just savory & tender & just perfect flavor and texture. Outside seating on a quieter side street was lovely. Gallina D'Oro is the rebrand of El Farolito! We ordered takeout meals with guacamole and margaritas from El Faro throughout the pandemic. So happy to see that they are still thriving. We recently ordered takeout again and enjoyed it. I ordered the veggie burrito through their website, and it was ready within 15 minutes. While there to pick up the burrito, I ordered the chicken quesadillas. They whipped those up in 5-10 minutes. Super speedy! Both items came with chips and salsa, and both were substantial portions. I really appreciate that the veggie burrito is full of veggies, without a single bell pepper (think broccoli, squash, carrots...). Quick, comfort-food eats. Friendly service. Hello all, Let me tell you about this great little known restaurant, Gillina D' Oro (Golden Chicken) Since we moved here from Maui, my wife and I started our date nights/days. And as always we look for the best hole in the walls This is no HOLE, this is a high end little known to outsiders, a great place. The service was amazing, Dog friendly (as long as your dog is friendly ) I had the chimichanga with barbacoa burrito Everything! Fresh and homemade, the sour cream homemade, the churros homemade, the cinnamon whipped cream, home made the vegetables...well thoes were made by GOD but they were fresh! The flavor? I gave it 3 out 3 wows when I tasted it, Ah maze ing, best so far. Worth the hour and a half drive. ( we love road trips ) we will come back again. My wife had the steak fajitas salad, she gave me a bite man o man the flavor was great the meat was tender all by itself but when you dip it in the sauce cheehoo! We also had the ceviche that was also great, All together it was about 90 bucks all well worth it, This place has been around since the 70's changed name but same great food. Recently rebranded from El Farolito to Gallina D'Oro ("golden hen") to match their sister restaurant ("black rooster") in Windsor, this Oaxacan restaurant serves delicious food at decent prices (for Healdsburg). Located one block from the plaza with indoor seating and an outdoor parklet, it's usually not too crowded so they can serve you quickly if hungry. Easy reservations on Open Table. The inside had a skylight, interesting paintings and a full bar, so we've opted for that lately. We always start with the house margarita ($12) which comes with a spicy salt. The chips are crispy and homemade, served with a hot red salsa. Husband loves the mole chicken enchiladas ($22) and I opted for the tacos ahogados ($17), 3 tacos deep-fried with shredded chicken dipped in tomatillo salsa topped with cabbage, queso fresco, crema, and escabeche. Son had the shredded chicken quesadilla ($19) which came with two large pieces and a mild green salsa. The atmosphere is nice and it's more a locals joint than touristy. We had tickets for a show at the Raven theater in Healdsburg and after some searching on Yelp I decided on Gallina D' Oro and booked a reservation. We chose the outdoor seating and were greeted instantly by a friendly server and the menus. I ordered the Mezcal Sunset (Mezcal, passion fruit, pineapple, basil, ginger beer) and my wife had the La Pollita (Herradura Blanco, fresh lime, rich simple syrup). Both were delicious. We enjoyed chips and salsa while going over the menu - many good sounding choices. My wife went with the Barbacoa Burrito and I ordered the Barbacoa plate. We both loved the flavor of the Barbacoa beef which was succulent, tender and full of flavor. We agreed that my choice was the winner of the two. While the burrito was very good - the Barbacoa beef in the plate which was served in a small pot allowed the flavor to stand on its own. I enjoyed the black beans and slightly spiced Spanish rice with the tortillas. And our server (I wish I got her name) was wonderful. I've been eating at this spot for 40+ years. It's changed hands and changed names but it keeps getting better. Gallina D'Oro makes, hands down, the best taco salad I've had. And it's the salsa that makes it spectacular. It's a great place to go if you're tired of seeing the same old people as they get a lot of tourists -- sometimes that's fun, especially with the back room/bar addition. It's a happy place with great food, nice staff, and no pretention. There's a convenient pick up window outside for to go orders and streetside dining if you're interested. Looking for a casual dining experience at a reasonable price in Healdsburg? Galina has a similar vibe to the original El Farolito that preceded it in this location. The interior is been brightened up a bit, but the layout's the same as before. While Gallina is a good spot for a casual dining experience, It's also a great spot for groups (there was a group of about 16 celebrating some occasion when we were there), so it can get a bit "lively" -- maybe not the ideal place to bring a first date. As for the food, the portions are generous, as are the complementary chips and salsa. We ended up "doggie bagging" half of our two meals (Machete quesadillas and Carnitas burrito. Flavor Rebrand My recent dining experience at Gallina D'Oro, formerly El Farolito, in Healdsburg was a bit disappointing. While the menu still boasts traditional Mexican dishes, the flavors have noticeably dulled since the name change (Rebrand). The Mole Oaxaqueño was a letdown (mole was nice), but it lacked the rich chicken profile and presentation we always enjoyed from this type of dish (more mole than chicken). The nachos lacked flavor- bland-(I had them add avocado) and the chicken enchiladas lacked flavor. The white rice served alongside was a far cry from the flavorful Mexican rice I remember enjoying at El Farolito. BUT---The cucumber spicy margaritas were refreshing and delicious. My man and I were traveling up the 101 to Oregon and stopped by Healdsburg for a bite to eat. I had my sights set on a breakfast burrito and the place we had tried once before was closed so this time we hit up Gallina D' Oro. They didn't have breakfast burritos on their menu but our waitress assured us they could make one for me with chorizo. I ordered it to go. The burrito was $20 with tip, she included a nice size green sauce in the bag. We split the burrito on the road so I don't have pictures of it and I also have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand it wasn't a breakfast burrito, there were no eggs in sight. It was rice, black beans, cheese and chorizo, and with that green sauce? Incredible. I typically get pretty miffed when a breakfast burrito falls short of what I ordered, because I order them often and I know what I order. This burrito could have easily been put in the category of "lesson learned" with the hefty price tag, the missing eggs and the fact that it was much smaller than typical breakfast burritos, but it was legit tasty and that green sauce put it over the top. So much so I'm actually craving it and wishing they sold bottles of it. I'm not sure if we'll have the opportunity to try them again but I will always think fondly of the one time we did. read more

WOW! As a long time Healdsburg resident, having been through the good times and not so good times of the former restaurant in this location, El Faralito, I figured 'new name, probably same ....' Not at ALL! I only wish I hadn't waited so long to try the new! This now woman owned business has truly elevated the authentic Mexican flavor and farm to table experience in a way that is creative, fresh, while maintaining a traditional focus. The dishes are so vibrant, flavorful, beautifully presented, and I haven't had better service in a very long time. The barbacoa tacos were AMAZING! Get them with the homemade corn tortillas. *I usually scoff at restaurants saying something is 'homemade' - its restaurant made no matter how good - but Gallina D'Oro solved that! The other big proof was the guacamole. It was THE best I've ever had, hands down, which was especially cool since I haven't had a restaurant serve even 'pretty good' guac in forever. The only issue I have is that I didn't visit sooner. Locals, it's different, farm fresh, clearly made and served with a lot of love and care, and it's AWESOME! Healdsburg visitors, you'll love the care in the food and service, and the friendly vibe with something for everyone and every price point in your party. This is not the same ol' at ALL! Gallina is fun and fresh, with amazingly friendly and attentive service, and a spot that's perfect for everything from a romantic dinner to family festivities, or a large party in the back by the bar where you can get what the table next to us called 'the BEST margarita we've ever had.' My review is impartial because I have only ordered the steak super burrito when I am in town working. I love the takeout window out front so you don't have to go into the restaurant unless you want to. Delicious, you can tell they are using quality ingredients. No gristle no BS no uneven proportions. Just a solid delicious well-made high-quality burrito. It's no wonder they've been in business since 2000 as it says on their sign out front. Of course it was El Farorlito for most of those years Got home delivery tonight though and it was terrible-the chicken in the fajita salad was more like jerky There is pico de gallo in the salad and it was a very small amount on the bottom of the takeout carton. This restaurant is homey and inviting, with attentive and friendly staff. The warm, fresh chips and mild salsa were so addicting. The mezcal margarita was excellent; I'd definitely order it again. We had two grilled fish tacos, two carne asada tacos, and an avocado salad. It would've been nice if the fish tacos had a deep-fried option. The spicy creamy sauce and cabbage on top were the perfect compliment. The carne asada portions were generous, with well-cooked meat and the perfect amount of onions, cilantro and salsa. The salad was surprisingly large, with a huge portion of chicken. I would've preferred a creamy chipotle dressing, but it was still tasty overall. We ate here for lunch and while the service was excellent, friendly, and prompt, the food was unfortunately not good at all. I ordered the tacos ahogados and was surprised when three small taquitos arrived not dipped in salsa as the menu indicated, only a small handful of cabbage and a sprinkle of queso Fresca. The chicken in the taquitos was flavorless, and there was no salsa or other seasoning. I had to dip them in salsa (provided separately with chips) to get any flavor at all. For $17 I expected more, and even perhaps rice, beans, etc. I gave it three stars for the warm and accommodating service by the staff. I just wish the food had been as wonderful! read more

I've been coming to Healdsburg for years and just found this spectacular restaurant just off the main square. The ambiance is great - loved the outdoor seating facing a beautiful mural, the service was great and the food was first rate. The home made chips and salsa are ridiculously delicious. I had the fish tacos - absolutely delicious and my friend ordered the vegetarian burrito - with chicken. I found this a bit weird but the waitstaff were happy to make any accommodations we requested. The other patrons seemed chill and happy with their fare. This will be our new go to restaurant when we visit - especially on Tuesdays - when the farmers market is set up in the square. read more

Melt in your mouth. Flavor like crazy. How else to describe the Molcajete dish, described on their menu as succulent beef...oh yeah..with shrimp, chicken in a tomato sauce, onions . My daughter and I stopped in today and were treated to wonderful food. We shared the ceviche which is the best I've had since Bimini. Then I ordered the barbacoa tacos. Oh man, I was in heaven. The crock of what they called consumme was an incredible meat filled liquid to dip or in my case, spoon over the tacos. I could eat it alone. This restaurant was our absolute favorite when it was El Farolito, but has since gone down hill. When it first opened under the new name, the food wasn't great, but we thought we'd give it another chance as they were probably going through a transition. We have since tried it 3 more times (I guess hoping each time it would be the el farolito we remembered) but each visit has been very disappointing. The food overall is very bland, chicken is very dry, steak is very chewy, and margaritas taste like they are mostly mixer. I think we have to finally give up on going here. read more
