I'm not sure if I don't know the right stuff to get or I'm just not the target customer, but I thought the pan dulche was a bit dry. It's an awesome experience being there and looking at everything, but the actual part of eating the bread was whatevers.

Was super excited to check that place out. A lot of choices but expensive and the flavor is lacking. Price of their cookies was similar to what I can get in Mexican store in San Diego.

Love, love, love the smell of fresh Mexican panaderías. This place is a staple in Tecate and now I understand why. They have so many types of pan dulce, I was a bit overwhelmed having to narrow my choices....there are Racks and aisles full of them! You will definitely get more than one bread. If you're heading to la ruta del vino, this is a great pit stop. They also have a large parking lot in the back.

The best bread in Tecate! (so the sign says). This place has pretty good sweet Mexican bread if you're ever in the area and want to take back some snacks for the ride home! All the bread appears fresh and if you choose right you can get sweet crunchy bread from the Mexico. Brought some back on my rides from Mexico and we all enjoyed it during the week.

    Yeah, more cookies & muffins

If you like pan dulce or fresh baked bread or cakes or pies or cookies, this is the place you want to stop at. Hundreds of scrumptious options. Everything we've tried has been absolutely delicious. Fresh & high quality. Quite economical. We typically buy a decent large sized bag of yummy treats & spend less than $20 US. There is always a line, but it moves quickly thanks to the barrage of registers to help customers check out. The racks of pan dulce are literally taller than I am. (I'm 5' 5"!) As you enter the shop, grab a tray (or two), tongs & wander the aisles selecting delectable delights from the stacks & stacks of goodies available daily. Breads offered include uncut loaves, tortillas, buns, rolls, bolillo, torta, French & Greek bread & much, much more. Ample parking in the lot out back. Easy to find location just across the border.

I am happy to update my original review based on our most recent experience at Raised by Wolves. I…read morewanted to give them another go since our first experience didn't live up to the hype that surrounds this establishment. My husband and I just finished our dinner at Teleferic Barcelona when I suggested we give Raised by Wolves another try - as we had about an hour before picking up the kids. For a Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised that as walk-ups we only had to wait a few minutes before we were seated at the bar inside. While we waited, we enjoyed perusing their bottle selections for purchase and I'm happy to say that playing music slightly louder in the waiting/market area helped dull the sounds from the inside bar. It helps create more of a 'moment' when you sit at the fireplace and slowly turn inside. This time we were seated right at the bar, which was perfect for us. Chuck was our bartender and 10/10 on the cocktails he made. This time, I went with their Tiki Room and my husband an off-menu Boulevardier (which I have to say I'm impressed he knew what that was because even I didn't, lol). Both drinks were perfectly crafted and enjoyed by both of us. We only had a moment for just one drink this time, but I have to say our experience was so much better than our first (perhaps a fluke of an evening). The staff were all welcoming and knowledgable, other guests were dressed well, and the ambiance lent itself to the vibe we were looking for. After doing some homework, I made the connection that Raised By Wolves was part of the hospitality group that also owns Lafayette Hotel, The Baby Grand, Ironside, etc...all locations my husband and I absolutely adore. Happy to support such amazing places around San Diego and I look forward to more!

Reservations are encouraged but not mandatory as I saw numerous people get in as walk ins before my reservation. Walk-ins are seated at the bar and limited to 1 hour. For reservations they do not seat early even if you check in early. No dress code, saw people with tube tops and flip flops. They sell lots of different types of alcohol in their store. I purchased a $33 bottle of Amaretto that said it had a cookie essence. Bar Entry: The hostess will check ID and then you sit or stand on the platform and it slowly spins you around to the inside. Bathrooms are on the left and exit on the right. Our server was great and listened to what we wanted in a drink and offered options. Tried: Amuse $4 - we were celebrating a birthday so these were offered as birthday shots. Amaretto sour $18 - very good. Smooth and not too strong. French kiss - very strong. Didn't like this one. Mint mojito mocktail (aka dealers choice) $11 - this was so good and refreshing. I love the atmosphere inside. We were seated in throne like chairs which was very cool. A good speakeasy spot to take friends and dates!

It's a walk-up, order and pay first kind of place, then you grab a seat, which was super easy and casual. The person taking my order was incredibly nice and patient while I figured everything out. Honestly, all the food I saw coming out looked amazing, which made it even harder to choose. They have plenty of seating both inside and outside, including a really nice covered patio, which I loved. The service really stood out to me. Even though you order up front, the servers were very attentive and came by multiple times to check on us and offer drink refills, which you don't always get in this type of setup. I ordered the steak plate with mushrooms and mashed potatoes, and everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The mushrooms were especially good. The only small thing was I wish the food had been a little hotter when it came out, but the taste definitely made up for it. My only other note is I wish they had unflavored iced tea. All the options were flavored, and since I'm not a soda drinker, that would've been nice to have. Overall, such a great first visit. Great food, great service, and a really comfortable atmosphere. I'll definitely be back.

I opted for the steak plate with sweet potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts. The flavors were delicious and so was the piece of bread, but unfortunately, I had issues... I was asked for the temperature of the steak - mid rare. That wasn't what I received. My first bite was, at best, was medium and leaning towards mid well. By the time i took my third bite, the temperature rose and was now well-done. It was also very chewy. It doesn't seem like the steak wasn't well-rested and/or overcooked. Also, there were huge pieces of stalk still attached to the sprouts. I'm all for fresh produce, but they should've been cleaned better. We're still deciding on whether to go back and have something we remember enjoying.
