Our expectations were high. As we walked down the dock checking out the other boats tied off along the way we could hear laughter and good music. (Be mindful of any loose boards) We were greeted as soon as we walked up and seated at an 8 top right on the deck viewing the lake. The menu had a lot of appealing items to select from. A majority of them being fried seafood fair. The prices were reasonable for the selection as well. The six of us all ordered something different. I had the Firecracker Shrimp (huge!), my wire ordered the crab cakes (disappointing due to more filler than crab at $22 for two), son had the 8oz burger (he loved it), tenders for the little guy, my uncle ordered the alligator bites which they were out of so he picked the catfish nuggets, and my aunt got the chicken nachos. The portions were rather large. Down to stars. I'm on the fence between 3 or 4 for these reasons. We arrived around 2:30pm and probably waited just over an hour for our food. The little ones were restless and cranky. The food was decent with the exception of the crab cakes. Servers were overwhelmed somewhat due to customers sharing stories from what I could gather from nearby tables. People are chatty when the mixed beverages are flowing. However, I love the experience, vibe, and the view. So 4 it is for this trip. You should check them out. I would definitely like to come back. It was really fun and I can only expect that place to get crazier as the summer goes on. Side note: If you order water, there is a $0.95 charge. Also there is a membership discount, but I don't know what that entails.

We couldn't decide which was better, they were both delicious, not at all the cafeteria restaurant soup we almost expected, but very homemade. $5 a cup, but $3.90 since we ordered lunch menu items. Well worth the money! Lunch was Fish 'n Chips for me; super good crispy fried white fish, not greasy at all, which is the sure fire way to ruin any fried meal. The fries are really good, too, almost McDonaldy. Comes with tartar, ketchup, malt vinegar (asked for), and a really good garlic aioli. Hubs had Shrimp Risotto, which was blackened shrimp over really creamy risotto with red peppers, scallion, and tomato. Delicious. Also couldn't decide who got the better lunch. Our lunch specials were less than $15 each, a bargain today, and we each took half home. Hubs also had a beer, and I had the house Cabernet, which was really smooth. Around $50 for everything; didn't mind spending that at all since everything was so good. Really glad we found this newer place; fingers crossed it doesn't go the way of so many downhill the longer they're here.

My group decided to start with appetizers and we got a lot. The seafood tower which consisted of an assortment of baked oysters, shrimp cocktail, shrimp ceviche, sliced seared tuna and smoked fish dip were all excellent. We were all a little skeptical of the smoked fish dip but we all loved it! We got an extra order of baked oysters and the coastal hush puppies which were also excellent. We had so many appetizers that only two of us got entrees. The tuna steak and blackened redfish were top notch and nothing went home! As we had a birthday in the group they gave him a free tres leches cake slice that we shared. It was moist and delicious. They have a great bartender and two people got prickly pear margaritas while the rest of us got martinis. They were all perfect! Bottom line here, I'm probably shooting myself in the foot but this restaurant can match anything downtown Raleigh has to offer. This place should be packed! We can't wait to go back!

The restaurant was not busy at all and nothing we ordered should take more than 10 minutes to cook. Our waitress was nice and gave good recommendations. It was obvious she was happy working there. The bill was well over $300 for 5 people. I order of hushpuppies, 2 drinks, 1 prosecco, 5 mains and no desserts. Waited at least an hour for our food.

It does tend to get busy, so you may have a little wait for your food, but it's definitely worth it. The shrimp Rasta pasta was creamy, flavorful, and had the perfect amount of spice, plus they give a generous portion of shrimp. The fried fish was cooked well and tasted great, and the steamed vegetables with the garlic butter seasoning were also really good. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

We sat outside this day, as the weather was mild and there wasn't any available seats inside. We ordered a fried combo and a grilled combo. TrySeafood does a lot of things right. Portion size was fairly generous. We especially love the fact they serve cleaned jumbo shrimp. Food was cooked well, shrimp was tender as was scallops. The broccoli was not tender crisp nor mushy. The potatoes and corn were delicious. While service was friendly, it was a bit slow. Also, I'm not an Old Bay fan. The grilled shrimp were seasoned with Old Bay. While the fish was crispy, I prefer a cornmeal dredge to a flour dredge. Finally, (and this could have been a me thing) the tip percentage on the screen doesn't align with the math. I intended to tip 15% - which is standard especially considering slow service. That should have been approx $8 and when I got home I realized it was approximately $16. You're not given a printed receipt and if you're in a rush and going through the process quickly it's easy to miss. Again I may have missed something, but I'm pretty sure I selected the %15 option. Additionally, I've seen other restaurants that have intentionally include this practice. Would I go again, sure. I'd request a different seasoning blend or a light seasoning and check that math!
