We were immediately seated on Sunday after church restaurant was clean and inviting the service was excellent waiter an waiters were totally attentive to any of our needs and the food was off the chain that chili were perfect. I had shrimp everything shrimp enchiladas shrimp taco, and shrimp chili Riano my wife had the pork rib, Napplle's if I didn't know me better I'd say they have an amazing barbecue chef there. We visited El Mexacali II both on Thursday and Friday night for dinner. We were helped by Diana Sandez who is a wonderful server. She helped us pick from their menu including the specialties. In general great food overall. You don't have to drive to Palm Springs or any desert city around. This place has everything you need. No wait time to be seated and excellent customer service. total mistake...chile gueritos were cold. (20.00 a plate, please don't serve them on soggy brown old shredded lettuce) The wet asada burrito had the most inedible tough chewy meat, cold sauce outside. and it was lukewarm inside.. This is my go-to place to eat lunch. (The few opportunities I get each year to go out to a real lunch, that is.) This location almost always has some sort of lunch special. They are reasonably priced and will fill you up. They often come with a cup of soup. The last time I went, we were given the most flavorful lentil soup I've had, in a long time. Service is good and friendly. The wait staff are quick to refill glasses, which I very much appreciate. It is dry in the desert! My favorites: chiles güeritos: They are always perfectly cooked, with big chunks of shrimp. They don't add extra stuff like cheese in theirs, which I appreciate. chicken soup: This is one darn tasty soup! It is big enough to share. frijoles: So good! They are creamy, have a good flavor, and don't leave your mouth with a greasy feel from too much lard/fat. I'm not a drinker, but my friends who do drink have said that the drinks are good. My only complaint is the parking lot. The spaces are 23.5 inches wide. It is tight getting in and out of the spaces. read more

I think this is my favorite Mexican spot in the area. It's always been consistent over the years and I'm never disappointed. They have large plates that will fill you up and a menu selection big enough for to find a dish they'll enjoy. The huge margaritas and bottomless chips & salsa are a bonus. read more

Always wanted to stop here and finally did today. There was only 2 other people dining and the service was very slow. Friendly but slow. Ordered the chicken flautas and they were disgusting. Husband wanted chile gueritos and a combination plate. He is lalways hesitant to order rellenos as some restaurants do not remove the seeds, which is a shame and I understand it's time consuming. His relleno was full of seeds. I ordered the caldo de res, which was awesome. The biggest mistake were ordering the chile gueritos. It seems their cooks must not own a internal thermometer to test the internal temperatures of their products they serve to the public. Having seafood coming from a cold refrigerated state to a heated state has to have a minimal temperature of not being iced cold nor half cold half warm. This type of carelessness can result in food poisoning . I informed the server the product was iced cold in the middle, which was unacceptable In food service. He returned later with another tray of gueritos which looked hot. But it was deceiving as the tops were blistered and crunchy. The bottom part the chile was once again cold. It seemed these Chiles were placed under the salamander that creates a crunchy and blistered tops with extreme heat. Only if these cooks would have done there due diligence and take an internal temperature they would have known this plate was still at unacceptable serving temperature. The service was great but if want to play Russian roulette food poisoning try the cold chile gueritos. The cooks should know what happens when hot food is served cold and cold food is served hot.. food poisoning . I wonder if the person with the serve certificate was working tonight.. makes me wonder what else is not right there.. read more

Omg what a score!! My BF and I crossed the street from our hotel and from the moment we walked in the vibe was right up our alley. Very sweet lady greeted us and followed us to the bar with menus. Made us drinks right away! Brought chips and salsa, took our order and poof our food was served very shortly after that. Checked on us enough times to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed the shrimp stuffed peppers appetizer. We plan on coming back and will order them EVERY time. BLACK PEOPLE NOT WELCOMED!! Olivia is the waitress to stay away from if you're not Hispanic. My black husband went into the restaurant to pick up our food and was just pushed to the side when my husband told her he was there to pick up an order. Never was he asked what the name was on the order but pushed him to the side to wait on 3 more customers coming in and 1 checking out. All that were Hispanic. My husband had to call me in from the car to get any service ( I'm Hispanic) THIS WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I give it a 1 star because I had to but I applaud Diana the manager on duty that helped me tonight, she continuously apologized but Olivia was the one that we wanted the apology from ... Everybody has always been pleasant and food tasted good when we dined in but this Olivia lady stay clear of her if you're not Hispanic. Olivia by the way said it wasn't because he was black but couldn't give any other excuse of why she kept skipping over him, nor did she ever apologize. She ran away as a coward does.. I absolutely love this place as it never disappoints! Came here for Father's Day dinner (requested by my dad) we love the Chile gueritos and fish tacos here. We had the pleasure of having Oliva as our server, we can be a complicated family when it comes to ordering food and she made she to accommodate our dietary needs and preferences. She delivered good energy and made our experience better. Margaritas are festive and a good size, personally I drank about 3 chavelas here as they were SO good. The salsa wasn't my favorite but I asked for the spicer salsa and that was better tasting .. overall lovely experience and we will be coming bwck! read more

Really good food and staff here. Stayed out in Indio for work and was craving authentic Mexican food. Decided to give them a try and I was not disappointed. Went in on a Tuesday and tried their taquitos and tacos on their happy hour menu. The food was really good and filling. I also ordered a Asada burrito to have for lunch the next day at work and that was also delicious. While at the bar I tried their michelada and it was so good. Our server was Oliva and she was the nicest and sweetest server, we had trouble on what to order this time and Oliva recommended some dishes that were pretty spot on and glad she helped us out. Well established Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa we're good. It has a nice upbeat ambience. Unfortunately the service was horrible. After I placed my order I did not see the waiter for at least 30 minutes. When my fajitas finally arrived they were overcooked and my order was wrong. The bus boy was doing all he could to deal with the bad service as he apologized to every table. The fajitas only came with two tortillas. I ordered another two tortillas and that took 10 minutes. This place has a lot of loyal clientele hopefully they resolve these service issues. read more
