I think the service is what made this place really special. I believe our server's name was Carlos P or T? He made us feel welcomed and made sure we were well taken care of. They have summer daily specials. I happened to go on Friday (pick any day special), and I chose Wednesday's Steak & Shrimp Molcajete accompanied by a Margarita. They also have daily live entertainment, featuring a guitarist who sings and brings a lively vibe!

They have live music, a beautiful bar, a nice dining area and an outside patio area. The facility is connected to a hotel across Royal Plaza. Located across the street from Little Caesars and Arco. Used to come to this place when it was in the other location off of Indio Boulevard and Jefferson. Same owners same menu. If you're looking for a place to have a small private birthday party or event, they have a room you can use for that.

Great place in Indio with live music. We were referred by a friend who said that this was authentic Mexican food. Yes, it had many dishes that I have never seen before. I tried the steak and shrimp molcajete. It looks like a soup. I asked "how do you eat it?" They said "just eat it." It came with tortillas and you can put the meat and vegetables in them and eat them like fajitas. Then you can drink the soup/gravy. Delicious. Sort of like a Mexican cioppino. We went on a non-busy night. The service was good and all of the wait staff were upbeat and friendly.

The moment you open their door you are transported to a colorful fiesta. There's a dining area and the bar area. We chose to sit by the bar. The bartender was so friendly! Our server was attentive. The sizes of the margaritas are for all levels of drinkers. I went with the small, which the server referred to as the baby lol. The chips and salsa were so good we needed a second round. The tacos were okay. I got one chicken and one ground beef. Felt they needed a little more flavor. But I would totally come again even if it was just for drinks and apps.

Best Mexican Restaurant in The Valley! Check out Macarios Grill in Indio!! Their margaritas are top-notch (we've tried other popular spots, and they don't even come close), along with the best chips and salsa. The food is authentic, made from scratch with the finest ingredients - we've personally confirmed this! It's a family-owned and operated business, and they are incredibly kind. Their dedication to their product and craft is truly remarkable. With almost 30 years of service industry experience each, my husband and I rarely come across such passion and care in a restaurant nowadays. Treat yourself and show your support for this restaurant. You won't be disappointed!

This place had terrible food and I don't know why there were so many good reviews. I had the oysters Rockefeller and seafood molcajete. All of the seafood had an old fishy flavor and did not taste fresh at all. My friend had the carne asada tacos and she did not like the quality of the meat either. She asked for salsa for her tacos and they told her to use the salsa they gave us for the chips and salsa they first brought out. They weren't very accommodating either when we asked for a substitution in the molcajete, they said NO Substitutions. Plus we had a large party of 9 and they would not let us split the check at all, not even in two. The drinks were ok, not bad. The ambience has much to be desired. They had a good sized restaurant and a huge bar yet they only had one bathroom for one person to go at a time. I had to wait because it was occupied in a huge place like that. That doesn't even seem like it would up to code.

Shrimp cocktail... needs salt and hot sauce but good!

I always love this place!!! The service is always wonderful. My boyfriend and I ordered the nachos, the shrimp cocktail, and the three margaritas just to try them all. It was the cucumber jalapeño, chipotle pineapple, and the mango habanero. My boyfriend loved the mango and the pineapple ones, but I love the cucumber jalapeño one the most because it was the most refreshing. I'm always right, says my boyfriend. He may beat me in bowling, but he doesn't beat me in drinking. PS... Everything needed a little salt, but it was overall really good... Also... A little Tabasco sauce doesn't hurt. But the salsa that they give with the chips is bomb. by the way... The Tabasco sauce was slightly brown in color. I'm not sure if it's really Tabasco sauce, but... It worked.

Ac wasn't working and the place smelled like sewer. And $10 for a small side of guacamole is crazy expensive.

    Is you Monday buffet, Ayce?

It is. And last time I went there was a taco station with homemade tortillas.

Would this be a good place to eat for a celiac who must eat gluten free food?

Well they have corn tortillas which are gluten free. Most sauces are also gluten free, but with any restaurant, they can never garuntee no cross contamination completely. I just wouldn’t get anything fried.

If their bathrooms are dirty imagine what the hidden kitchen looks like. A good rule is if the bathrooms are dirty, consider another restaurant. Comfortable outdoor seating was plentiful. Chips are crisp, fresh, and as a single diner they did not temp me in eating a large portion of corn chips. The fresh salsa is one of the best I have eaten. Just enough heat to make you a bit cautious, yet not enough for regrets. My regular is two crispy beef taco combination. If their beans and rice are marginal, rarely are the plated meals better. The beans were superb. My critique would be I wanted more. Beans were clean, meaning not to heavy with lard, bacon grease or whatever they use as a refrying agent. Rice was crisp, light and flavorful. The Taco's were on the small size, they used the standard street taco sized corn tortilla. But the flavor was great once I added a pinch of salt. Service was quick, staff was congenial. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, I would definitely put this one on your list. I will be going back to try some of the other fare, but crispy tacos, rice and beans pretty much some up my choice at Mexican restaurants. Mixed crowd with many brothers from down below the border. Their food reminds me of family style meals. The ceviche looked delicious and I will be trying that the next time I visit.

LOCATION: In Old Town La Quinta, OTLQ easy to find, tons of parking but at times it gets busy so you may have to walk a bit. FACILITY: very traditional inside and out, clean, and lots of space between tables. MENU: rather massive, we usually order the same things so all the other options makes my head hurt so we just go with what we know. FOOD PREP: excellent, always looks the same which is a good things. FOOD QUALITY: some of the best in the valley. LIBATIONS: lots of choices and not too expensive, wish they had a locals city of LQ discount like some of the other options in OTLQ.. WAITSTAFF: very nice, everyone. OVERALL VALUE: if you order the right things, it is a great value but you can go nuts and spend a lot, tourist dollars spend well, upselling happens for those who want it and deserve it! TIP: Sitting outside is great most all year, we don't go out when it is crazy hot, but have dined outside in 100+ temps, we prefer the front outdoor space.

*Mi Casa es Su Casa*…read more My buddy had a small casual bday get-together with his family and invited me to join the celebration. I saw all the favorable reviews on Yelp and was looking forward to my first visit at Casa Mendoza. Very chill & lively family owned Mexican joint in Old Town LQ. The place was kinda busy @6:30pm on Hump Night ~~ always a great sign when I see this. Felt more like a Sunday Evening. It took an hour to receive our meals. Ordered @6:45 arrived @7:45pm. Good thing the Chimichanga & Gauc apps arrived pretty quickly. The Gauc was Excellente. All their food was very good. But all our meals arrived cold/lukewarm. Took forever to receive our food and we knew for a fact it's because all our plates sat a while until we were served. The actual plates weren't even warm and the sizzling fajitas had sizzled out and lost its dazzle. Because it was still 95 degrees when dinner was finally served, our lukewarm meals were doable on a hot night. Everyone did enjoy their meals tho. I was very pleased with my Mahi Mahi in Garlic Butter Sauce. The refried beans were outstanding. The rice very good...and I made tacos with the 3 corn tortillas. But would have enjoyed it even more had all the food been a little warmer. I stuck with H2O but all margarita drinkers said their drinks were good and hit the spot on a warm night. The service in general was also inconsistent for our small party of 8. The Birthday Boy was a little frustrated and got up a few times from his throne seeking assistance -- such as missing tortillas for meals, water refills, extra napkins. We even had to wait longer than anticipated for them to acknowledge the bday boy with a celebratory bday song & sombrero...and the fried ice cream, which didn't include a candle. Tho we all enjoyed ourselves and time together...a 2 hour dinner at a Mexican joint on a Wednesday night wasn't what we anticipated. Especially with one restless 7 year old ;-) But everyone working at Casa Mendoza is very friendly with great attitudes. Hostess team, waiters, servers & runners too. So that made up for the spotty service, just a little bit. Since I'm closer to the other Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert, I'd go there in the future with my wife, and order the exact same thing. But hope for much better service and warmer food.
