We went to the pinnacle national park for some sight seeing and hikes. We left before the sunrise and were back in town hungry and looking for foods. We came an across a cute little downtown and with plenty of places to eat. There were so many resturant to choose from but my husband was more interest in the seafood resturant. The resturant was a little crowded before the large group occupying tables left. But we made our way to a table and sat. The server came by with limited English and luckily my husband spoke a little Spanish so that made it easier. We order a few tacos and once of the seafood empanadas dish. I would say everything was delicious and the one dish that was my favorite was the empanadas. There was a creaming cheese in it and made it taste really good. Small, clean, brightly lit place with two big screens showing boxing. Loud, but not too loud Mexican music added to the atmosphere. Ysa had the fried tilapia, I had the octopus ranchero style and we split a mixed seafood tostada. The tostada came last and we barely ate half of it and took the rest back to our hotel. Very good options, we were in hunt for Baja style fish tacos. The tacos were filled extender deep fried fish, camarón empanada as a treat! Combo mix fajita sizzling good. So many places have mild tasting salsas ,So If you like hot salsa try the red thick one it's as good as mine. Friendly service w a smile. The food was very fresh! I actually am very pleased with the entire experience. The music was blaring and they did turn it down. The boxing fight was on the flat screen. They seem to serve large size beers there. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys ceviche. We had oysters on the half shell with octopus and shrimps and very fresh vegetables. Delightful. Amazing menu with amazing variety of seafood offerings. But alas, the seafood was not fresh! For example, rather than having a crisp & crunchy bite, the shrimp were soft & wimpy, and the jugo [cocktail juice] was also lacking in flavor. Maybe it's because King City ain't that close to the sea, where as the Mexican State of Nayarit borders the ocean. Unfortunately, there's nothing worse for a so-called 'seafood restaurant' than to present anything less than SPECTACULARLY FRESH fish. I ordered 5 tacos and a beer. Payed 30.00USD. And all I got was weak ass tacos. First time here and never, ever coming back to this place. Extremely disappointed. Was overpriced and not worth it. I ordered a fish plate with garlic (pescado con ajo). It came with a salad and rice. The fish, looked like tilapia, was well cooked, but tiny. Not a bad local authentic Mexican eatery, but if you don't speak Spanish and you have food allergies, you should choose another place. The waitress was very nice, however, communicating special dietary needs in English was impossible. My husband has Celiac and we settled for switching our plates so he ate mine because the fish tacos he ordered appeared to have battered and fried fish pieces. I hope the tacos el pastor he wound up eating instead didn't have gluten or he's going to be violently ill in 2 hours. Not really their fault. Descriptions on the menu would have been helpful. Great family restaurant. We stopped in today on our way to the Bay Area. We always stop in King city but wanted to explore the downtown away from all the fast food chains. My kids loved this place. They have all kinds of tacos for 3$. My kids had the chicken, shrimp, and beef tacos. They were perfect size for them. However the real specialty of the house were the seafood tostadas. We tried the octopus and shrimp which were both only 5$. The TV was on to a cartoon network in Spanish and so loud that it was hard to talk across the table, but the waitress seemed to enjoy it.
