All of us ordered something different and we all were extremely satisfied with our meals, especially our vegetarian friend. The ambiance, service, quality and portions were spot on. We are from outside the area and wanted to eat Mexican food and be downtown. The staff here was pleasant from start to finish. The food was great. From the birria tacos to the enchilada trio to a combo plate, it was delicious. We'll be back again when it town. read more

Stopped by on a business trip. It happened to be Cinco de Mayo (2025). The bar at 4pm was quiet but the bartender was friendly. I ordered some Palomas which were delicious. Chips and salsa came with a side of bean dip. Nice touch. I ordered the Quesabirra Tacos. They came out in a set of three. They tasted great but they were quite honestly a little underwhelming in size. For six dollars each you would think they would be a little bit bigger. There's no way it should be a $20 plate. I had high expectations but the first time I waited and waited to be served...finally left. Figured it was a late afternoon and it was bad timing. Came back another time, finally was served, ordered dinner and hands downs worst pollo asado ever--the fact that the bartender/server tried to convince me that a bland overcooked piece of chicken, with no Achiote pepper, was Asado Pollo, and that it was just prepared differently--just blew my mind. read more

Came on a Saturday afternoon. Was seated and serviced a drink quickly. Server said she would give us a couple of minutes to look over the menu. She never came back. we were nearly the only ones in the dining room. We waited 15 minutes. We were looking for someone to flag down but they just seemed to ignore us. I finally walked over to where I saw someone and told him we've been waiting and we would like to order. He just looked at me and said yeah yeah she'll be with you in a minute and he then walked away. I waited another 10 minutes to be acknowledged and no one came. I got up again and asked if we could order and I got the same response. After sitting there for nearly a half hour someone did come out and take our order. The server did apologize and said they were busy. They apparently had a catering order going on. I let it go, but I was feeling quite annoyed. Even though I tried to alert them we were waiting and wanted to place an order. They just let us sit they were too busy for us. Not a great feeling. We will most likely not return. read more

Went here last night for dinner with friends. They've eaten here many times but it was my first time. Service was outstanding! Great chips and salsa and a bean dip as well. I asked for extra hot salsa and boy was it good!! Full of flavor AND heat! I ordered a trio of enchiladas with no beans. The plating was really pretty and the portion was enormous! Enough for 3 meals! We also had a quesidilla that was as large as the plate and a taco salad that had beautiful presentation. The flavors were excellent! This is for El Paraiso in Ashland only. I have heard from friends that the Medford El Paraiso is much better. Since I have moved from Ashland to Medford, I intend to try the Medford location. I do receive many ads from El Paraiso for discounts on food and drink. What surprises me are two things: * The offer is good only for online ordering. * The offer I received today for a whopping $5 discount if I spend $30 is good only for a total of 4 days (from today, 7/26/24 until 7/29). I don't need the discount but I do have to comment on how stupid both of the above are. If our country becomes an eat out only via online, our cuisine quality will drop even lower compared to other countries. So the offer promotes online ordering instead of bringing peope into the restaurant where the food is served hot and there is hopefully ambiance. The offer being limited to 72 hrs + pending when you read your email is equally dumb. Whoever comes up with such policies to drum up business must have relatives that own a competing restaurant. Nevertheless, I will go to the Medford El Paraiso and try it out and hope it is a lot better than the Ashland one (where the food was uneventful, with the pork fajitas tough and chewy. read more

We went there as a family/big party and they accommodated us without issues. Endless chips and salsa/beans please! their margaritas come in an enormous Glass and are very well priced so bring a DD. Enjoyed a variety of foods to include their mole chicken (maybe a little salty for my preference) which had great flavor, tortilla soup with fresh avocados. I was jealous of some of the food that was being ordered at the next table as well (molcajete trio). Best deal ever is the kids menu, which is $8 but 1/2 off on a couple days of the week (Sundays and Fridays?) for a decent meal, drink, ice cream! Service was also great and friendly!!! Very good Mexican restaurant. For me it's always the chips and salsa that set the tone. Stale chips? Bland or store bought tasting salsa? If so, the food is likely going to follow in that vein. But no worries here, the chips were warm, fresh and crispy, and the salsa was obviously home made by someone who knows salsa. We ordered: Chicken Tortilla soup. It was delicious. The chicken was abundant and tender, the avocado was fresh, the broth was rich and flavorful and the tortillas held their own. Chicken Fajitas. Excellent. Great pico de gallo, flavorful, tender, delicious chicken. Perfectly cooked onions and peppers and fresh, generously served guacamole. Rice and beans were good, not great, but good. Chicken Taco and Cheese Enchilada plate. Chicken was tender and flavorful, salsa was added and it was perfect. The cheese enchilada - per the person who ate it was "just all out yummy. It was ooey gooey goodness". If I lived around here I'd be visiting this restaurant often. Also, staff was very gracious, even to the anti vaxer/mask averse loudmouth. This joint has THE BEST fish tacos in town. I always have had great service and with the plethora of televisions around you can find just about any game on while you dine. Their margies are diverse and huge and they just added these (addictive, be careful) cheesecake and berry chimichangas. I love how colorful the decor is, it sets the mood somewhere between the time of day where you sip a relaxing drink on the beach or opt in to party on the dance floor. I love El Paraiso! read more

I really enjoyed my meal here. We visited for lunch right after they opened. They were friendly and helpful. Our server did a great job as well. I judge a Mexican restaurant on how I like their chili relleno and crisp tacos. These guys slayed it... good cheese and not gummy, coating was perfect, and there were ZERO seeds. The taco was crispy all the way around... the bottom even, the ingredients were very fresh. I would have liked a touch more seasoning in the ground beef, but that was very minor. If something happens to you here don't expect the restaurant to take owner ship. I had a party of 3 sitting outside on the patio, there was wind, the screens were secured, and both of hit one person while the other hit the drink, slammed on the table, knocked the water everywhere, and on the customer. Waiter comes out well over 15 mins later, states that this is not the late time it will happen, explains/shows us what needs to be done (only does one side when 4 needs to be secured), and then goes about his day. When we asked for the check and asked if there is anything that can be done due to the situation he said I'll give you a discount which is great but then the manager comes out and says its no one's fault its the patios fault?!! I said sir you and the employees secure this spot before customers are seated so yes this is your responsibility, he shook his head no, said its already happened, and we are ok now. Went to dinner with family while in town for a celebration and this place makes you feel like the celebration has just begun. Awesome attentive service. Margaritas were outstanding. The service was amazing! Our server Kenia did an amazing job, especially with our large group of 30-35 people. The food unfortunately lacked and was very disappointing. We ordered the fajita plate with steak and shrimp and we only had maybe 3-4 slices of steak, a few shrimp, all on a pile of onions! Hardly any peppers at all... and that's all! Looking for a pleasant patio to spend a summery June evening, we headed to Porter's but found it overcrowded and disorganized. Across the street at El Paraiso, a friendly hostess escorted us to a shady covered patio with ample seating. The wait staff here was professional and charming, and the owner and chef both came out to chat and offer samples of a richly sweet berry chimichanga the kitchen was trying out. The bartender is also a creative innovator, mixing up all manner of colorful margaritas (try skinny margarita with juice instead of sweet and sour mix and a spicy rim with Tajin and Chamoy), refreshing gin cocktails, and a lively blended cucumber drink spiked with tequila and agave syrup for a sweet and spicy profile that would probably pair nicely with Mexican sushi--a trend sweeping into Medford recently that I would consider trying here. Just enjoyed a tasty dinner here and was impressed at every turn! I can say we would be hard pressed to find a better Mexican food restaurant in our old stomping grounds of San Diego. The staff was welcoming and friendly; the service quick. My hubby said his margarita was top notch and I was thrilled to find they serve DIET Dr Pepper!! We were welcomed with thin & crispy chips, a delicious salsa that didn't taste like it came from a bottle and cheesy refried beans. Yum! Dinner arrived quickly on huge, heavy hot plates. I love green salsa and was so satisfied with the Enchiladas Verde. So tasty! Bob had a three-item combo plate & said everything was so good. I loved the carnitas and the beef was well-seasoned. Our waiters were attentive and knew their menu. For dessert I agreed to the friend ice cream even though I'm not a huge fan-usually. Guess what? BEST deep-friend ice cream we've ever had! Seriously. Bigger ball of ice cream, perfect "crust" sitting in a light and crispy friend tortilla with cinnamon, whipped cream and chocolate. Sooo good and perfect size for two.
