I guess we are lucky because the first one they gave us the front tire was shredded on the rv and my family could have been in a very bad accident having the entire tire shred. My husband and I are planning a road trip sometime in the near future. We have been searching for an RV rental location. We paid a visit to RV Solutions Inc and La Mesa RV and apparently they do not have a rental service. Thanks to Yelp we found El Monte RV. After talking with them over the phone we stopped by to get more information on prices and available RV's. Robert was very helpful; he took time to go over the prices during peak and non-peak times. He showed us RV's that are available for rental and explained other "for your information" information. I had a fantastic journey with El Monte RV at LA branch. We were welcomed with full smily faces on Sunday afternoon for pickup. The car was with all equipments and enough strong for mountain. We had no problem on the road. Both at pickup and returning car places they were so kind and provided quick process with hospitality. We decided to rent an RV for a grand canyon trip in December where temp goes below freezing. They knew the route when we were renting. When we were picking up the RV, on the day of the trip, they informed us we have to take it to a RV certified mechanic to get it winterized and we would not be able to use shower, toilet and sink. Needlessly we had to cancel right then and there. The place does not seem to be very reliable. When renting RV go to the top places, do not settle for these people if you can. Or be prepared to pay the price. read more

I have rented a C class from John and his team 5 times and have always had good experiences. I have found them very helpful with insurance and other questions. It's been my experience that we have to confirm (and sign off) on gas, mileage (you can prepay extra miles) etc. so I do encourage anyone renting an RV to ask all those questions upfront. I just dont get how you can send an RV out and not make sure everything is in good working order? Its your only job...renting RV's! And when I brought my list of things wrong with my RV (5 total and three were safety issues) on our week long trip I was asked if I called the 800 Number to complain. I was in the middle of the forest without cell service! How would that have helped me? Have it ALL in good repair upon rental and it would all have been avoided or at least most of it! When I asked for consideration on my $1500 bill I was given only $100 off because I had not called the 800 number. Even though no one walked through my RV with me on my rental day (I was given the key and a clipboard to walk through by myself) or explained that calling the 800 NUMBER WAS A MUST! On the day I had service I called the San Diego Office and left a message but no one called me back to remind me to call the other number. I didn't have cell service after my first day....VERY POOR customer service and the RV was a rattle trap. Will not rent from them again read more

I checked in here just so I could write the review. My boyfriend and I borrowed a friend's camper for two weeks so we could go to OTL. After the first weekend, the fridge wouldn't stay on. A friend told us we probably needed propane and recommended El Monte. The guy who helped us, Robert, was amazing. Immediately he realized we had no clue what we were doing. Not only did he fill our propane tank, but he showed us some quick start ways to get the camper set up and save fuel. He even offered to empty our water tanks when we returned from camping. When we returned, he was there just like he said. He backed our camper into the spot for the tank dump, and took care of the whole thing. The hose didn't lock on very well, which caused some gross leaking outside. He could have easily made us do it, but he was still friendly and got the job done. His customer service was second to none! If I had to rent an RV in the future, I would call here first and ask for Robert. They also rent out Budget trucks if you have a move in your future. read more

The check out process was great. They were very polite and friendly. Did the walk through and signed off on all the scratches, dings, etc. that were existing. She noted the mileage and at that point said..."please remember to bring back the RV with the same amount of fuel you have when leaving the lot." When I turned on the engine the first thing I did was note that the level was right between the 3/4 and full line. Weekend went without a hitch and the RV was nice and performed nicely. When I got back, the guy inspected the vehicle and said that I needed to go get gas. I told him that's exactly how I drove it off, he just dismissed it and told me to go or he was going to have to charge me 6.50/gallon to do it himself. He showed me the sheet and she had marked a full tank, but never did she show me what she had marked down. So we got back in, drove to the gas station and the tank took a whopping 97 cents and wouldn't take anymore. Mind you, this was for a corporate event, so we rented the vehicle for 4 days, but brought it back 2 days early (I even told them I was bringing it back 2 days early). So to me, they were already making out pretty well making is seem really silly for them to not only stick me with 97 cents in gas, but to make me feel like a liar. That's the part that really made me upset. Then, they told me they needed my credit card again to charge me because I went over the mileage. That would be OK, but they never told me I was only allowed to 50 miles (yes who rents an RV for 4 days and goes 50 miles?) before being charged 34 cents per mile after that. That's when I got really irritated because she told me I must have put that amount down when I reserved it online, which I obviously wouldn't do because I knew exactly how far I was going. Then she said she didn't know and that maybe it was default setting. Again, all good but when I checked the vehicle out she said she'd been there years and years. So you work there that long and you aren't sure of default policies or how your web reservations work? That's when I started feeling a little deceived and "nickled and dimed." So I would recommend for Yelp users to find somewhere else. Sadly I won't be back and will need to find a different RV rental agency for my other events. My family and I wanted to rent an RV prior to serious consideration of purchasing one. We rented a 28' Class "C" from El Monte and drove to Arizona for the weekend. The staff at this office were extremely friendly and cordial during the whole transaction. John showed me how to operate everything I needed during my trip and the operators manual they give you to utilize on your trip was extremely helpful for any questions that came up during my rental. I highly recommend the Santee office of El Monte RV and would definitely rent from them until I purchase my own! read more

Worst company EVER to rent from!! We had problems with the generator, fuses, AC, heater and 2 bad tires. One tire blew while driving through Las Vegas area in 115° heat!! No AC, 2 little kids in the motorhome!! Ridiculous!! No effort to get us another vehicle during our trip! Problems all week. Will NEVER send potential customers their way. Horrible service!!! Asked for a fuse for my RV that I rented and they didn't have any. How lame. Not a good spot go to next place

I was not happy with the customer service of the Dublin CA El Monte RV rental. Their motto is "Integrity over Profit," but I learned first-hand this is not the case. Upon getting my RV home I noted a small crack in the passenger side of the front windshield. It was very sunny when I did my inspection and my glasses were digging up due to my COVID mask and I'm convinced I simply missed it. I called and emailed as soon as I got home but the manager insisted I am responsible. I accept that from a legal perspective, but was disappointed that 1. They never returned my email or phone call, 2. When I was able to get in contact with them, they insisted I must pay for the damages ~$500, and 3. Even though I purchased the "VIP" damage insurance, the deductible is a whopping $1000, so I'm stuck. For a rental contract is approaching $5k, I would have thought they'd be more accommodating and customer centric. For these reasons I have rated them 1-star and recommend to all that read this to consider another RV rental company, even if the cost is higher because of the hidden costs associated with El Monte's operation. read more

Right out of the gate there was a problem with the 2016 Fleetwood Leprechaun we rented. A stem leak in the front passenger tire caused the tire to go flat. Had to call the El Monte RV emergency hotline for assistance, as you are not contractually permitted to fix flats on your own. Got an answering machine, as it was not during regular office hours. Regular office hours in an emergency? 18 hours later, the spare was installed (by the El Monte contractor) and the flat was fixed (which we paid out of our own pocket) and we were on our way. We returned the vehicle 2 days later, after having given it a through vacuuming with the Kirby. The lady that cleans the vehicles said that there was dog hair in the vehicle and told us it would take her 1 hour to clean the vehicle, for which she charged us an extra $80. $80 / hour to clean dog hair from an RV? That's $153,600 / year. Are they hiring? LAME. read more

We just returned from a 5,500 mile, 26-day, road trip. This was our first RV experience and we were served very well by El Monte RV Rentals, Mission Gorge Rd, Santee. Robert was very helpful with understanding the contract, and helping us to learn about many aspects of RV travel. He and his staff made extra effort to get us an RV designed to fit our particular needs. The coach was clean, and before leaving Doreen gave us a really through orientation as to the use of all the systems. When we had a problem with the water pump when out of state, and called the Road Service part of the business they gave us great support in finding a repair facility and taking care of paying for the repair bill by phone. When we returned, Robert was pro-active in asking for some compensation for the time we lost, even though we did not ask for it. We had a great trip, and feel we received excellent customer service.
