Zero Expectations: On a sort of whim (we knew there was a show coming to Mission Valley but our schedule was pretty busy and we kept forgetting about it), we were in the area and stopped by the RV Super show. We walked around for about 45 minutes looking at several models (Travel trailers) with zero expectations. We were about to leave when a sales person named Bonnie approached us. She was very nice, no hard or ingenuine sales techniques, and struck up a conversation with us asking a few questions about our camping lifestyle and what we were looking for. She showed us one of the Trailers that we had looked at a few minutes before and we chatted about the amenities and size that we had been looking at up in OC. We explained our situation, that we had outstanding credit, but had a trade in with a balance and knew that we'd be "upside down" by about 3k and that just didn't sit well with us. Keep in mind, the other dealership also knew our situation and what our comfort level was in terms of making the numbers work and landing at a comfortable payment, but they just couldn't, or wouldn't do it. In all transparency, we knew that it being the last day of the show and end of the 2023 model year that there would be a little wiggle room with pricing, just as there is when car dealerships are trying to move out last years models. So, with our excellent credit rating and a a nice discount off of the sales price they were able to make the numbers work! We are now the proud owners of a new Grand Design Imagine 2023 Travel Trailer. The whole process, start to finish, took about an hour and a half (on site at the stadium). Shout out to the Team: As someone who works in Management and Operations I typically have pretty high expectations of others and this team exceeded all of them! From Michael, the on site General Manager, to Bonnie our sales person with a great smile and fun personality, to the finance Department (Martin? I hope Great guy nonetheless), and George, who familiarized us with a thorough walk thru of the Trailer at pick up time, the process was professional, welcoming and painless. What a winning Team!!PS to Blue Compass Corporate-Save a tree or two and streamline the process. Take the leap from Paper contracts to Digital Documents, you save finance a bunch of time and the planet a bunch of waste. Picking up our new Trailer: We scheduled our walk thru for 10 days later (at the Santee site) and they literally had the Blue Carpet and velvet ropes out in front of our Trailer for a true VIP experience. George walked us though the trailer inside and out (super informative and knowledgeable person), and Bonnie dropped off a welcome basket with thank you note and a smores making kit. The Take Away: My husband and I couldn't be happier. We took it for a test run for the weekend at Santee Lakes (great RV resort-like park) and really love the trailer and all of the amenities. This was a serious trade up from our 14 Ft hybrid Travel trailer to a 26.1 foot beauty that's easy to pull and gives us the total glamping and camping experience we so wanted. We have set up 2 more trips in the next few months and we have full confidence in the trailer that we bought through the amazing team at Holland/Blue Compass RV. Noice!

I came here completely inexperienced not knowing much about rvs and I was under the impression that they were giving me the best deal possible. I explained to them I needed an rv for a family of 4 and that we were looking for something with enough space for all of us. Never once did they show me a fifth wheel trailer with a toy hauler room and 2 bathrooms which would've been perfect for my family! I ended up buying what I thought was great travel trailer rv for us but I was completely wrong and got screwed over. At first it seemed spacious enough for us but after living in this thing for a little over a year now and it is one of my biggest regrets! We bought a 2025 rv and we have barely been living in it for a little over 1 year and it's already falling apart. I can touch the roof without even fully extending my arms. The shelves and cupboards are falling apart. The kitchen is tiny there is no counter space and the refrigerator is already broken. They made this with cheapest parts possible. Theres only 1 restroom and it's so small it's very uncomfortable to go number 2! I was told the rv I was buying was one of they're biggest ones yet over this past year I've seen multiple rv with so much more space more and over 50% cheaper than what I paid for mine. This was definitely a learning experience for myself. I thought I could trust that these people would help me in getting the rv that fits me and my family's needs but instead they sold me an overpriced cheaply made rv. So just a warning be careful when buying from this place or any other rv place and do tons of research before settling! Just because one company doesn't have what you need doesn't mean another might not!

DISASTER I brought…read moremy RV to J's RV to remount my grey water tank. The result was very sloppy, unprofessional, and incomplete work. I requested a $500 refund to cover the cost to fix the issues. The owner Jason refused, and requested I bring it BACK to him to correct and finish the work? I have ZERO faith in J's to correct the issues they caused. Sloppy and Incomplete work includes: 1. The tank was mounted unevenly (is not level) and much lower than original and in comparison, to the black tank next to it. (As a result, will not correctly monitor water level) 2. The drainpipe is now lowest point of the undercarriage and easily dislodged if something hits it. 3. The shower plumbing was left exposed easily accessible to mice/vermin. 4. A gaping hole was left exposing the freshwater tank and plumbing also accessible to mice/vermin. 5. J's could not get the tank sensors and level monitor to work. Turns out the wires and ground were out of order. I followed the pattern on the black and freshwater tanks and now works fine. Go anywhere else! JB

We just bought a used RV so I went to work to make sure everything worked properly. Part of that…read moreinvolved tuning up the cam locks that secure the exterior compartments. I decided to clean, lube & adjust them all. Some were rough to turn, some were missing nuts & some could be rotated with or without the keys, opening them in either case. This needed to be repaired. Having trouble finding replacement parts I asked for help on Nextdoor & many people contributed their thoughts & advice. That was sincerely appreciated. This process made me aware of how difficult it was to find certain parts. Consider this case of the missing nut. I have the measurement tools that told me the nut on the back of my cam latch was either 18.5 mm with a pitch very close to 1.0 mm or 3/4"-24 in the Imperial realm. With great difficulty even the best I could find in metric were 19 mm nuts but even then they were the wrong pitch. Finding a 3/4"-24 nut was much easier . . . on paper. Clearly the nut was a "standard" product but where to get it from, hmm. I contacted these hardware sources, some from past experience & some from people's advice: Ababa Bolt, Ace Hardware, AliExpress, Amazon, eBay, Grainger, Home Depot, Lowe's, Marshall's Industrial Hardware, McMaster-Carr, Mesa Fastener, Pell-Mell Supply, TruValue Hardware & United Fastener. I had initially contacted J.R. Products, the manufacturer of the cam lock, but they would only sell me an entire new latch for about $11 each. If I replaced all 15 that would cost me a little under $200 with tax & shipping. I then called these RV places seeking some 3/4"-24 nuts: A1 RV Repairs, County RV Service, eTrailer, Overland RV, RV Trailer Supply, San Diego Trailer Supply & South Coast RV. Without exception they told me I'd have to buy all new cam locks & no one would sell me just the nut required for the latches without them. As I scanned my Yelp list of RV places I noticed one place I hadn't called happened to be the closest one to my home. I hadn't called them before because they were a long way down the list & the further I went down that list, the greater my frustration & hopelessness levels grew. I thought "What the hell! They're very close!" I called & spoke with Gary Weissenberg who has owned "Hit The Road RV" for 20 years. It is behind the Dairy Queen (and one building South) in Allied Gardens. He is one of those guys who answers the phone casually so I wasn't sure I'd reached a business. I asked & he confirmed I was talking with "Hit The Road RV". I asked if they carried parts & he said "Some. What do you need?". I told him I needed ten 3/4"-24 nuts & why I need them. He told me "Usually you have to buy the whole new cam lock but let me see what I can do." I heard him shuffling through drawers & he came back to the phone & told me sure enough he had ten of them though not new. "Fine with me" I said, "I'll be by soon." He reminded me to bring in a cam lock so we could test them to be sure. Before I hung up I asked how much they would be. He said "I'll probably never use them. You can have them." When I arrived he greeted me warmly. I found myself not in a pristine business but in the work area of a guy who dedicates himself to his work & taking care of his clients & their vehicles rather than having a glitzy store. Despite his reluctance to be paid, I was able to pay him a paltry amount for his efforts & kindness. I only paid him $10 but if this heartfelt recommendation falls on fertile ground perhaps he will benefit with some more business. One can only hope. Needless to say he has my recommendation and, at the worst, I alone will be his dedicated new customer. Feeling pretty happy I stopped at the Dairy Queen across the parking lot & treated myself to a small vanilla, chocolate dipped cone. I ordered the small & immediately wished I had ordered the Junior (smaller). As a habit I asked if they gave any discounts to ex-military and/or old farts. The young man at the window had no idea but he looked about inside & turning back to me said "Sure, why not?" & knocked off a buck. My day was getting better by the minute now. Behind me in line was a Mom in her US Marine Corps uniform ferreting through her purse to find money to buy ice cream for her two young kids. With the rosy glow I had & the milk of human kindness currently coursing through my veins I said "Order what ever you want because I am paying! Thank you for your service." They were all very happy. Her two grateful kids, both with impeccable manners, noted I paid with my usual $2 bills which they had never seen before. I gave each kid one, told them what a hero their Mom was & bid them all adieu. I thought "Could my day possibly get any better?" It could! When I got home Gayle was there just doing everyday stuff. Dave out P.S. I learned many RVs use the same locks with the same key so there's not a lot of security there. Remember that & consider upgrading yours. Gary can do it for you if you can't or don't want to.

My initial phone call was answered by office manager Daniela, who listened intently to my questions, and quickly put me at ease. Following the call, she worked closely with the firm's founder and technical maestro David - who reached out to discuss technical aspects and options, and soon we had a detailed and easily understood proposal in hand to add a pair of 200 Watt rigid solar panels to our RV roof, as well as all the subsystems necessary to make them fully operational and beneficial to our anticipated needs. The day of our appointment, we met the rest of the team, including David's son Zack, who runs the day-to-day operations of the business, providing hands-on leadership to a small crew of installers, to assure everything is up to his family standards. As Zack later said: "I treat every RV as if it was my own". With several restaurants, a multi-plex theater and brewpub a short distance away, I planned on spending a few hours nearby as the work was performed, and was pleasantly surprised to receive an early call that the work was not only complete, but that my cost would be less than half of the estimate. On further inspection and research during the installation, Zack determined my existing control hardware and other systems would be able to easily handle the new panels, and there was no need to install the hundreds of dollars of additional new equipment they had understandably ordered and prepared for the install. Though Zack could have easily installed that new equipment for an extra profit, and explained it away to a know-nothing like me, he didn't - - and that means one hell of a lot. Took it to a Freightliner shop on Miramar Road that was more focused on fleet vehicles and they were dismissive, didn't repair what was needed, went over the quoted price without advising us, didn't complete the work in the time promised, and communication was poor. We picked it up after 3+ weeks of minimal progress. California Coast was recommended by a friend and we are very impressed with every aspect of their business. We brought the RV in and they did an end-to-end inspection of the engine, steering, suspension, electrical, etc. with photos and advice on what was urgent vs. needed in the future. We talked with Vinnie several times and he was incredibly patient with our questions and gave well detailed answers. All work was completed on time. as promised and at a very fair price. The office manager (Donita) is a gem. We have a warranty and she facilitated coverage and helped us understand the warranty details and process. We asked them about upgrading the suspension and Vinnie provided several options. We chose a mid-range upgrade and after service was completed we took the RV on a 22 day, 2300 mile trip and everything worked great! The suspension upgrade made a HUGE difference on some rough roads (looking at you, I5 in Nor Cal ). Donita called a few weeks after our service to see how things were going, if we needed anything, etc. It was a nice personalized touch. We are relieved to have found a trustworthy local business to work with and highly recommend them!
