The food was delicious! I came here on a Friday @ 7pm and I expected it to be packed but it wasn't. I liked that because we could hear the live music playing a lot better and we had good service. We ordered a molcajete and a caldo de camarón y pescado. My parents are usually pretty picky and they both LOVED this place which made me very happy. The food tasted really good & freshly made. The caldo wasn't watered down. And we asked for the picante salsa on the side for the molcajete and I LOVE that salsa!! I would buy it just on its own if I could, it is delicious. This may be the only restaurant in Houston where you really need to bring about 5 to 8 people with you and order one thing from the menu. Dig in and enjoy! The food was incredible. We had over 4 pounds of shrimp, two fried red snapper, and mussels. It was too much food for just four of us, and I think we still left with 2 pounds of shrimp. The flavor, execution, and presentation of the food were amazing. The spices created a nice blend that everyone could enjoy; it wasn't too spicy or too bland. People usually stay away from Mexican food because of the spice levels, but this place is perfect because the flavors are balanced without overwhelming heat. You can also ask for extra sauce on the side, which adds a little spice for those who enjoy heat. This new eatery has opened in the space formerly occupied by a Chinese buffet restaurant and there is plenty of parking space in front along with the adjacent Walmart parking lot. I had lunch there over the past weekend. Inside this place is huge. Two large dining rooms with a small stage separating the two along with another area devoted to a large bar. When I visited and was seated I noticed a musty smell and wasn't sure where it was coming from. Also, while this is mainly a restaurant the Latin music being played was too loud in my opinion giving it almost a nightclub feel. The music was ok but just too loud. The restaurant has a large menu with most items of a Mexican theme but also offering pasta dishes and burgers. I ordered the chicken fajitas substituting charro beans for refried and homemade corn tortillas for $9.95! Yes that's right on the price and it's not a lunchtime special, it's the regular menu price. First to come out was a complimentary tostado in lieu of chips and salsa. Personally, I prefer chips and salsa but the tostado was still good. Also my ice tea was served in a large glass with no ice and I like ice. I flagged down the waiter to ask about this and then he brought me a glass of ice. He should have been aware that my ice tea had no ice in it when delivered. About 5 minutes later my entree arrived. The platter was full of small pieces of seasoned chicken along with plenty of red and green bell peppers and onions. I was pleased. The charro beans were tasty with a slightly creamy consistency and the 3 corn tortillas were thick and did a good job of holding everything together. They gave me a plate with rice, lettuce and two tomato slices but left off the guac and sour cream that is suppose to come with it. Two problems here. First, they only give you a fork to eat with so I had nothing to cut the tomato slices up into small pieces for my tortillas and they forgot the guac and sour cream. When I told the waiter about this about 5 minutes a person from the kitchen brought me a bowl full of sour cream and a large plate full of guacamole. It was enough for 5 or 6 people to use and therefore most of it was wasted. The bottom line here is that my meal was good tasting and represented an incredible value price wise. However they need to work out some of the kinks. The musty smell, loud music, no ice in the drink, missing guac and sour cream and then when it arrived most of it was wasted. I will give a 3 score overall and hope that as they are open longer that they get some of their shortcomings taken care of. read more

I want to give this place 5 stars so bad but man the serviceeeee.... the food here was absolutely DELICIOUS. hands down my group of 10+ people all thought ALLLLL of the food was AMAZING. i don't think i've ever forced myself to finish a whole meal like this, it was TOO good to leave anything behind. I cannot stress enough how good everything was. my younger kid cousin said , even though its white rice and looks really plain it has really good flavor. I even thought that of the side of fries that came with some of our foods bahaha, y'all know how some other sea food places sides of fries be.. but, it took about 15+ minutes before even getting our drink order taken, 10+ minutes for the *soft drinks to come out, another 5 for the *liquors, and another 10 minute for the *aguas frescas. 10 minutes after alllll of our drinks arrived then we got our orders taken , so after 40 minutes of being seated we got our orders taken. about 20-30 minutes later our food came & our waiter only came back once after our arrived & we never saw her again we sat for another 30 minutes after finishing for our check that never arrived, we almost walked out bahaha I guess they didn't want to let us pay. anyways we finally walked up to the front counter our selves & paid since no one told us anything about the payment process or anything ** overall really delicious food no doubt with great serving sizes, but wack service and prices read more

First of all if I could leave 0 stars I WOULD. Let me tell how horrible the service at this horrible place was . 1. after waiting one hour to get a table in the front for a performer who was a friend of the family another family that was already sat down got an attitude with the waitress and said no we are moving and we're gonna move to the front (TAKING OUR TABLE) we told our hostess, why did you allow them to take our table, they said they had an attitude so we let them have YOUR table . at this point we should've left right but the performer who is very close to us wanted us to see her we stayed. We waited another 30 minutes before we could sit ourselves basically at this point. 2. It's basically raining inside the restaurant. The AC units are leaking their tubs all over the restaurant so you're getting a performance and you're getting rained on. 3. After sitting ourselves down, this is about 2 1/2 hours in after countlessly talking to waiters walking around hey can we get some drinks or can we get some menus after 2 1/2 hours of being in the restaurant they told us here's the menus. What do you want to drink? We got our drinks right take in mind . It was only six drinks for $87.60 OK on top of that we told the waiter hey we're ready to order waitress told us that the kitchen was closed even though everyone that was before us and after us was getting their food . The waitress told us that the kitchen was closed due to high demand.(But after 3 hours waiting it was EMPTY) I don't understand the lies of the staff there don't get it. I understand you don't want my business, but after my waitress comes back to me and says hey, you didn't leave me any tip what do you want me to tell her? I got zero service you told me I could not order food came back and told me hey yeah I'm ready to take your order in after I told her I'm ready to close a check for the $87.60 for my six drinks my family was here, it's disrespectful to be called a family old restaurant if you treat them like garbage. 4.
