This restaurant is very consistent and never fails to impress me. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The servers are attentive and friendly, and they make sure that your water glass is filled. The garlic butter chicken wings are simply spectacular! The chicken wings are ginormous, the batter is light and crispy and the garlic butter sauce pairs so well with chicken. The salt and pepper squid was piping hot and the batter was also light and airy, and the calamari was cooked perfectly. The beef was pricey but absolutely worth it! The waiter asked how we wanted the cook on the beef, and the beef was a perfect medium rare. The meat was so tender and flavorful with an excellent char and the sauce was so flavorful. I really appreciate the abundance of vegetables that come with each dish and the portion sizes are quite generous. My diagnosis: come here for perfectly executed Vietnamese staples! read more

Wow I was very impressed. I'm sad that I didn't discover this restaurant until fairly recently, but I've been here twice and both times were great! The food can be a bit pricey ($35 for bo luc lac, for example) but flavors are great overall and the service is also really good! It's not super high end in terms of decor but certainly well above average and pretty nice compared to the standard Vietnamese restaurant. (For example, yes to white table cloths, but they are layers of plastic.) My quick rapid fire recommendations: 1. Chicken wings - they are absolutely ginormous, amazing flavor, and totally worth the price though they seem expensive on the surface. 2. Fried calamari salt and pepper - delicious! I can't quite describe it ... a hint of funnel cake batter flavor? There's something quite special about this one and it's quite tasty. 3. Shaking beef (bo luc lac) - amazing! Ask for the beef to be medium rare as opposed to medium. Dip those beef chunks into the lime dipping sauce and oh my... you're in heaven. The service is also top notch and not your standard Asian restaurant level. Located off West Little York, close to 290 - it's a hidden gem in Northwest Houston not too far from the city. Can't believe I haven't come in here before! The worst part about this place was how many amazing looking options there are on the menu ( how do you choose!!?? ) Portions are large, food is flavorful, and service is friendly. Had the lemongrass tofu vermicelli which was a great meal and boyfriend had pho. We both enjoyed our meals and left happy!!! read more

Viva Restaurant 3 is a casual Vietnamese spot that was pleasantly good. The beef vermicelli bowl was delicious. The noodles were warm which was nice since so many places serve them cold or at room temp. The flavor was comforting and delicious. The water spinach was perfectly seasoned and tender but some bites were a bit gritty suggesting it might not have been washed thoroughly. The pork belly in the clay pot, however, was a bit too sweet my taste and they used whole peppercorns instead of ground pepper which added to my dislike for this dish. One more minor irritation - a fly kept buzzing around our table, which definitely took away from the otherwise enjoyable meal. The menu is huge and has so many options. Plenty of free parking available. I'll be back to try some more dishes. read more

Wow!! I was sad when the original location suffered a kitchen fire but they came back like a phoenix! I visited with a family of 10 and we ordered the family meal for 6 plus eggrolls, the crab rangoons, and some kid friendly dishes. Let me start off I have a VERY TRADITIONAL VIET MOM and she compared everything to her own cooking so she usually complains. But she the food was so great and she never complain except to compliment and keep feed her grandchildren. Everything reminded me of her cooking and the food was very traditional. Everything was a perfect blend of salty, sweet, umami, light but powerful. The location was big but nice. We visited during lunch but they were able to immediately sit us without a wait. Their attendance was top notch. I'm excited to return soon. read more

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine. We had the satay, soup, and hu tieu ap chao gion (Crispy Pan-Fried Rice Noodle In Brown Sauce). The latter was the star of the meal. The newest Viva restaurant just opened their doors! They had a location on 1960, then moved to beltway and west rd. Viva 2 (belt/west rd) was a really small location. I'm so glad they found a space that fits a larger party. We came in a little before 7 for dinner. The restaurant didn't have customer but understandable since it was a little late and we went on a cold evening. We were seated right away in a cozy booth. My husband wanted Vietnamese comfort food (family style). We ordered Chinese broccoli and beef, salt and pepper calamari, snow pea leaves and Vietnamese tamarind soup with catfish. Everything was excellent and the portion sizes were huge. We probably ate half of everything and to-go the rest of the dishes. Definitely one of favorite spot for Vietnamese cuisine. We were craving Vietnamese food but didn't want to drive all the way to Bellaire. This location is conveniently near our home and is related to the one on Beltway 8, as well as the other location that has closed down on 1960. The restaurant is spacious, bright, and clean, and the staff were all incredibly friendly. While their garlic butter wings were hot and crispy, they lacked a bit of seasoning compared to the Beltway 8 location. My husband and I weren't fans of the stir-fried snow peas with beef; the dish was overcooked, and the beef had no flavor. On the other hand, the salt and pepper squid highly recommended. It was hot, fresh, crispy, and full of flavor--plus, it came in huge portions! We also tried their wonton cheese puff, which was different from the usual cream cheese variety. Inside the restaurant is alway hot, not sure if it's because they don't have blinds. There's rarely any customers. Most of the time I've gone in, it's barely 3 table occupied. The customer service are hit and miss, one time our drinking glasses had lipstick on it. Told the waiter and he just smirk about it. Until I had to firmly tell him it's dirty. The food are great, for the price and portion are good. Garlic sesame squid is good. Viva rice is good. Ribeyes are pretty decent, but come with a large fatty portion. read more

I am driving by this area and looking for foods to go. When i walked in, the most hit to my eyes is the plates of food is not small. Foods is delicious and reasonable price. The services is excellent and super nice, they are took the dirty place and trash of the table right away. If next time I am going back in town, definitely I will come back. Was craving tofu and had read reviews so I opted for this place. I don't think I would recommend or go back. It had an awkward smell that made me feel like I didn't want to eat it.
