Pretty decent all you can eat sushi place in Northwest Houston. It still has the vibes of Red Lobster inside since it took over that restaurant recently. The place is nice and clean, has several TV's throughout to watch sports and other events. There's a bar where you can get alcoholic drinks and has plenty of bar, booth adn regular seating. Be sure when you go that you order a good amount of things at one time, it does take time for the food to come out to you when you order it with the waiter. Notable items: Lunch buffet is $21.95 from Monday - Friday from 11-3. Salmon Poke Bowl is delicious, Lobster Crab Dip was a good surprise and the handrolls were tasty and delicious! This was our first time visiting Blue Claw and honestly the experience was very mixed. The food was hit or miss. The seafood boil was probably the highlight of the meal. The garlic sauce was delicious, and the shrimp, corn, and potatoes were all really good. I also enjoyed the Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, and the beef skewers. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the spring rolls because they were soggy in the middle. The Salmon Lover Roll wasn't for me, and the hibachi fried rice tasted a little off. I couldn't quite figure out what it was, but I wasn't able to finish it. The crawfish in the seafood boil also did not taste very good. They tasted a little dirty or off, and I couldn't quite put my finger on exactly what it was. They weren't inedible, but they definitely had a funky taste that stood out compared to the rest of the seafood boil. What really hurt the experience was the service. Our server, Lily, seemed much more focused on a larger party than on the rest of her tables. She would stop by and ask if we needed anything, but when we requested refills or other items, they often never arrived. We had to wait until she came back around again to ask a second time. In reality, we saw the food runner more often than we saw our actual server. I also found it strange that we were told to place our first order through the QR code, while a table that was seated after us had their first order taken directly on an iPad. Since it was our first visit, I would have appreciated a little more guidance. The most frustrating part happened at the end of the meal. After we paid and left Lily a $16-$17 tip, I asked for one more drink because my refill had never come. She offered to bring our drinks in to-go cups, which we appreciated and were excited about. We waited around 15 minutes, then several more minutes after that, and the drinks never arrived. Eventually we just left. It felt awkward and disappointing, especially after being told they were coming. What made it even more frustrating was that I had originally just wanted a refill while we were still sitting at the table. Instead, we ended up waiting around after paying for drinks that never came. I understand restaurants get busy, and I know how difficult serving can be because I have worked in restaurant management myself. We usually tip well and try to be understanding. That's why this experience was so disappointing. I don't know if our smaller table was just not a priority compared to the larger party, but it definitely felt that way throughout the meal. After leaving a $16-$17 tip and still not receiving basic things we asked for, including the drinks we were promised before leaving, I honestly felt a little taken advantage of. There are some genuinely good menu items here, but the lack of attention and follow-through from our server left a bad impression and made it hard to want to come back. Blue Claw is simple- It is a quick place for nearby business men to go out for their lunch break and return for their 3pm water cooler chat. Sandwiched between Chili's, Chick-fil-a, and Pappadeaux, Blue Claw offers an Asian perspective to your weekday lunch rotation. I was in love with the portions of salmon. Tuna tataki and salmon tataki is the cheat sheet to bypassing their no-sashmi-during-lunch-time rule. The tuna slices are carefully marinated in ponzu sauce topped with jalepenos that are just spicy enough to get you to start ordering actual rolls. My favorite roll is the salmon lover roll. Salmon inside, salmon outside drizzled in an umami filled eel sauce. I will continue to dine here so long that this place continues to function! Hubby surprised us with this new All You Can Eat location. Supposedly, it was an old Red Lobster restaurant. So they kept the aquatic/sailor decor. There are nice pops of blue seating that I thought was a nice touch. We were greeted by our waitress and given an explanation on how to order. You have to scan the QR CODE for your table and select the item & quantity for each order. Be careful not to over indulge, as I was told if there is too much left over, you will be charged extra. Stopped in with high hopes, but this visit ended up being a bit of a mixed experience. The lobster dip had great flavor with a nice spicy kick, but the chips were stale which took away from it. The lobster cakes were delicious and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. I also really enjoyed the tempura yams, super tasty, though just a tad oily. The shrimp taco unfortunately wasn't for me. The texture of the shell was an off and made it hard to enjoy. When they say "salad," they really mean it literally...everything comes on a bed of lettuce. The crab salad was shredded imitation crab over lettuce, the mango salad was slices of mango on lettuce (and the mango wasn't ripe), and even the seaweed salad was served on lettuce and had a bit too much vinegar for my taste. The seafood boil actually had really good flavor. We ordered a second round and asked about adding extra mussels and clams, but when it arrived it was all mussels, no clams. The shrimp fried rice had a very unusual flavor, almost like an extra sauce had been added that I wasn't expecting. I also usually love a shaggy dog roll, but their version just didn't quite hit the mark for me. Service was unfortunately another downside. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Friday night, but our server spent more time socializing than checking on tables. At one point she was standing at a nearby table having a full conversation while holding our food. There was also some noticeable tension between staff, including a server openly arguing with coworkers, which felt unprofessional. And to top it all off... paper straws!!!! Blue Claw definitely gave me the blues. We were looking for a happy hour deal in the area and saw some of the reviews mentioning $5 martinis, 50% apps, and $1 oyster Monday which sounded great. We arrived just a few minutes before their happy hour ends at 6pm (as shown in the photos) to find the parking lot completely empty and the inside also completely empty except one customer sitting at the bar. The inside had really creepy vibes too with kind of eerie lighting and the wall of empty (as in drained) lobster tanks. It felt like their last day of business before closing forever. Despite this, we did take a seat at the bar and noticed that there were strangely only four total bar stools for a decent sized bar. Weird. After asking about their happy hour special, they stated that they don't offer specials on food, only drinks, and produced a very small strip of menu that felt like it had been cut out of a larger menu with about 6 cocktail specials including a martini and a few other very sweet drink options. This restaurant is cute, clean, and has a really welcoming atmosphere. The host was perfect -- she seated us quickly and was very professional throughout our visit. We ordered the all-you-can-eat option and tried a variety of dishes. The sushi is fresh and doesn't taste like cheap fish, which is a big plus. The rolls may not be out of this world, but for the price, they are extremely good and definitely worth it. Overall, I would go here again. Lobster rolls are made of slightly toasted buns (similar to Texas Toast garlic breads) that are split partially and filled with a thin layer of chopped lobster salad and romaine. The classic has a creamy and cold filling, which i thought tasted better. The signature version has the warm filling but seems less flavorful. The onion soup is on the warm/ hot side. Eel and tamago nigiri were okay. The vegetable (sushi rice, sliced inari pockets, seaweed salad, sliced avocado) taco (sliced iceberg lettuce on the side) was a good version. I feel like they should have used maybe a different oil or a different technique but they were weirdly crispy but flavorless. 4/10 We have some yummy lobster sliders that were buttery and soft and delectable. 9/10 At the end of the meal they offered decadent looking chocolate mousse and everyone was so happy to close out the night on a sweet note. Because I don't like chocolate, I did not indulge, but I saw the smiles of the guests around me. I will most certainly come back, especially since they offered All of Us exclusive coupons! Generally good experience. The lobster roll was delicious (but I liked the classic more than the original). Sushi was decent. All the appetizers we had were good. Staff was friendly. Atmosphere was excellent. All you can eat for $30 is a great value. But two things hold it back from greatness. A couple of our dishes were dirty (some crumbs on them). And there is a better option that has the same price, Sushi Masa in Sugar Land. If you're closer to Blue Claw it might be worth it, but if you can get to Sushi Masa I think it's a better value for a similar experience. read more

I was driving to work yesterday morning and saw their Soft Opening sign so I told my family about it. We decided to try it for dinner. (This is the old Red Lobster and we did NOT have such a good experience the last time so it was a little "traumatic" to come back to this building. Lol). The service was spectacular from the host, to our waiter, the manger and just everyone who walked by. They checked in on us very often, it wasn't that busy but still, they made sure we were enjoying our dinner. They asked for our opinions on the dishes and it was an extremely pleasant visit. We got a little bit of each thing and did it family style and shared. Going to list everything from our favorite to least favorite. 1. Creme Brulee - one of the best I've had so far. The manager (God, I forgot her name but she was so sweet!) gave the table some complimentary dessert and it was DELICIOUS. The crack from the sugar was perfection. It was firm enough but still smooth and silky. Very rich in flavor but not too sweet. I would come back for this for sure. 2. Lobster & Crab Dip - these top 2 items would be the reason I come back! Only thing I didn't like about this was the bell peppers but I still enjoyed it very much. The table devoured this dish within minutes of it being set down. I am a corn girly so the corn in this dish was "chefs kiss" to me. 3. Blue Claw Roll - Lobster Tempura - enough said - deep fried - yes please! I honestly wasn't expecting coming here to eat sushi but it was good. Nothing bad to say about this dish. 4. Lobster Risotto - the risotto was creamy and cooked just the way I like it, a little more on the al dente side. It was not mushy or soupy. It was flavored well. The only thing I would change about this would be the "parmesan crisp". It was not crispy. It was soggy snd chewy. 5. 1lb of the Lobster, grilled with the East Coast sragood boil sauce on the side. My dad ate the entire lobster himself so I assume it was good. Lol. The sauce was okay. We are used to the Viet Cajun Garlic Butter sauce so this was just ehhh to us. 6. Lobster Chowder - it was creamy but nothing special to it. The biscuit that came with the chowder and the bisque was more on the dry side. It wasn't fluffy so it felt and tasted very dense. To compare, it was more like a Popeye's biscuit not a Church's biscuit. 7. Mussels - it was in a tomato bisque like sauce. It tasted like mussels. Again, nothing special to it. You do have to eat this hot though because once it gets cool, or room temperature, it doesn't taste the same. 8. Lobster Roll - the bun wasn't buttery and toasted enough. The lobster filling itself was abundant but it was too saucy. The sauce was a little on the sweet and tangy side, kind of like a thousand island salad dressing type. The fries were delicious though. Extra crispy as requested. We ate every single fry. 9. Lobster Bisque - I felt like this one was just Lobster in a tomato soup. It wasn't creamy or bisque like for me. 10. Calamari - this was more on the bland side. The batter was not seasoned. It was definitely not deep fried enough. It was still pale and soggy. It needs to be golden brown and more crispy. This place has been up and down for me. First, it was advertised as AYCE but it wasn't until very recently. The first time I went in, I was taking advantage of the $1 oyster Mondays, which was great. Champagne at the door, large gulf oysters that were still fresh, decent cocktail sauce to dress them with. The lobster cakes were crisp and the dressings they came with were well balanced. The east coast boil was kind of half and half for me, since the calamari and mussels were overcooked but the shrimp and crab were done well. The seasoning could use a little more punch, but it wasn't bad at all. The service was great, every person who approached my table was friendly and helpful. The second time I tried to go in, it was closed for renovations. The third time I went in, there was no one at the host stand until the guy sitting at the bar realized no one else was gonna seat us. While sitting down, he asked if I'd been there before and started telling me about the AYCE menu he was putting down. I told him I was really just looking forward to the oyster special and would rather not do AYCE, but he hadn't brought the a la carte menus with him. Then he tells me that they aren't doing the Monday oyster special anymore (the website does NOT reflect this change) and seemed to be reluctant to grab the other menus. I really wasn't all that interested in sushi and was super disappointed about the oysters, so I chose not to dine there that evening and I'm not sure I'll be back. That was a huge draw for me. I'll happily munch on just-okay-to-pretty-good food alongside a good deal on oysters on the half shell, but if they're gonna be the same price as every other seafood place, I'll go to the ones that I know have consistently good dishes otherwise. read more

Went out to blue claw, a new seafood restaurant in Houston to surviving the first month of 2nd year. They easily accommodated a group of 9 people. It gives casual yet more finer dining vibes with the decorations and music. We came during happy hour where they had half off apps and $5 select martinis. They also had a grand opening special where you can get a lobster roll for about $10 off. We started off with their lobster and crab dip, calamari, and popcorn shrimp. The lobster and crab dip was phenomenal. It was like a seafood version of a Korean corn cheese dip. The calamari was pretty decent as well, I'm not sure if it was coated in chipotle aioli or if that was supposed to be a sauce on the side though. The popcorn shrimp was pretty good, the chili sauce it came with was actually pretty spicy. I got their grand opening special signature lobster roll. It was overflowing with lobster and topped with sriracha aioli, onion, celery, and herbs. You also get a side and I opted for truffle fries. A lobster roll with a huge side of fries for under $20?? Yes pleaseeee. I really enjoyed the lobster roll and it's actually pretty heavy, especially with the fries. I also got their princess peach martini. It's made with vodka, peach schnapps, lemon, simple syrup, and cranberry juice. This drink is dangerous because it basically just tastes like juice. I also tried the salted caramel espresso martini and the Houston haze. For other mains I got to try the steak and salmon sushi. The salmon sushi has torched salmon on top, flying fish, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. This actually tasted really good but the rice was really dense. The fish to rice proportion is very skewed. I also tried the steak, a 8 oz strip loin cooked medium rare. I thought it was ok. Another friend got their double cheeseburger and they liked it as well, they also have interesting dishes like a lobster burger or lobster frites. The service was pretty good as well. They accidentally brought us an extra salted caramel espresso martini and sweet potato fries but they gave it to us on the house after they realized we didn't order them. read more

So, I talked the missus into tryin' it out and man am I glad I did. I looked up their menu right after spotting them in Yelp and when I saw 'Lobsta' Roll' I knew I was in. The only other place that has those is the Mainely Lobster near Interstate 10 and Silber. It's tucked away behind that French gym - LaFitness. It's expensive but you get a lot of lobster on the roll there and it's real good. With hot melted butter. Mmmmm! We get to Blue Claw and see it's totally renovated - so basically new. Looks a bit upscale with a nice size bar strategically located in the middle of the dining area. Yes - white linen napkins and those new modern flat crockery plates are deployed. Nice! Took a bit to get accustomed to their menu and I missed a few important items until our server pointed them out. Two types of lobster rolls . . . Classic and Signature. Classic is cold lobster on hot roll and Signature is 'spicy' (not) served warm on same roll. These are bite size only with a pretty small amount of lobster but . . . the flavor is really good. Especially the bread! It might be worth it just for the bread. If money is no object and you can will yourself not to consume the entire delicious bread and just stick to the bite with meat - it's a great experience. This is lady-sized food so most guys will need to order more to be satisfied. Just think appetizer portion when you order. Another REALLY tasty dish is also an appetizer. The lobster AND crab dip. Yes. That's right. Lobster and crab in the same dish. It was served with chips similar to Mexican restaurant chips but WAY better. The flavor on this was outa sight! Service was stellar and our experience was satisfying. Fast forward a month or so and I decided to pop in for a late lunch. Maybe it was off hours but no one at the door to seat customers and the place was pretty dead. The bartender finally saw me and seated me in the bar area. Gone are the white linen and cool crockery. Initially I tried the QR code to pull up their menu but its server was wanting. I asked for real menus and they seemed a little confused but finally got it and found it changed from standard 4 or 5 pages to a single cheap laminated one filled with sushi dishes. Looked like one of those cheap menus from a mom n pop Mexican spot with poorly taken iPhone pics. Full disclosure - I'm not a sushi fan. I asked the nice bartender girl if they had changed their motif from my original visit and she confirmed they had gone All You Can Eat style. Only after I told her I was looking for that original experience with the lobster rolls and dip did she tell me where on the menu that was still located. Obfuscated to the bottom right corner under Dinner dishes. Had she not pointed it out directly anyone could miss it. Once the fare arrived at my table it was again, very tasty albeit diminutive in size as per the original portion experience. The dip however had no discernible lobster Or crab pieces in it. Just a sauce with that general flavor. I did choose the buffet option since that appeared to be their comfort spot. It was far from the original experience I enjoyed this time round. If I return . . . nay - if they are still in business - I'll order the full price dinner menu to see if the portions and quality are better as when they first opened. I won't hold my breath. Thankfully that Mainly Lobster joint is still around. I'll just have to suffer that their bread won't be as good. read more

This is our neighborhood hole in the wall. If you love sushi - this is the place to be. They also have burgers. but sushi rolls, handrolls, wontons, tempura anything is out of this world. Everytime we go - we don't see many cars and were afraid they may close so we will be posting every time we go so they can stay open and get the boost they desperately need. read more

Cozy place. Great service. Good food and a great amount for the price. Drinks were also pretty good as well. Will definitely go back again.

Went for a late lunch, waitress was awesome. Food came out on time. We ordered the special Valentine's drinks. The first order took awhile. Bartender, manager were all talking by the hostess booth. No care in the world about the customers drinks. It took more than 30 mins to get our first drinks. We decided to order another round. 20 mins go buy. I looked towards the bar and the bartender, manager and other workers are talking. Our waitress goes over and tells her about our drinks. The bartender tells our waitress, they can wait. We canceled our order. I asked who was the manager. Our waitress points her out. I said never mind she's been talking the whole time nothing will be done.. bartender and manager have no professional ethic skills. 5 stars for the waitress read more

We've been a few times and food delivery has always been sort of slow but tonight was awful. The kitchen staff didn't know what table to bring orders and would go from table to table asking customers until they found the right one. Waiter kept forgetting to put in orders and after being there for over two hours we gave up on getting all of our food. I wish they still used the QR code system. read more
