I was very impressed with this little restaurant. Possibly an overlooked and misunderstood gem. First of all, it is authentic, so ignore the lame, misinformed assessments from the Taco Bell feeders and the Mexican food experts that always start their reviews with "I'm from [fill in the blank] and so I know authentic Mexican food." The food is not OkieMex. The slight noticeable difference, being milder spices and the food not floating in queso. Enough of what it is not. What is is..... Fresh, very fresh salsa, tasty salsa. Both the mild and the picante were excellent. Even without the level of heat that I usually demand in a salsa these were wonderful. Freshness wins here. The Salsa Roja Enchiladas (covered with a perfect red sauce) and the Chili Relleno were both overloaded with nicely seasoned ground beef. There was no skimping on the meat. Sides of tasty, smooth refried beans and pleasantly flavored rice. Two very enjoyable meals. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive throughout the meal. The visible cleanliness and upkeep of the small restaurant made a very favorable impression. Not what is typical for these small town, repurposed structures. I have absolutely no negative critique to offer.

Random shopping and dinner after hiking in the keystones. Probably the best street tacos I've had in ages. Great staff, clean and very friendly! guiding me away from some dishes due to my allergy Will absolutely be returning on our next trip

This place is such a good find. By far the best Mexican restaurant in sand springs, and my new go to. The service was awesome, very friendly and speedy. The chips and salsa were DELICIOUS. The salsa was very flavorful, and it was a crowd pleaser; not very spicy but still very flavorful. My whole group loved everything that they got. I got the Central American breakfast because I am a huge breakfast lover. Loved it, so flavorful and delicious. They came with tortillas as well, so quite a bang for your buck. The pupusas were great as well! I'm so glad that sand springs has a place like this. Authentic, and fresh. Hopefully you get to experience this wonderful place as well!

We love this place. Especially on taco Tuesdays-street tacos are $1.25 and they are amazing. Along with chips a salsa. They also have some amazing chicken tortilla soup, has lots of flavor and veggies! With onion, cilantro, lime and jalapeños on the side..... So good!

I took my mom & aunt and everything we ordered was amazing! Everything was freshly made and portions were good too! I had the plátano frito while both my mom & aunt order pupusas. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of my plate but it was gooood and let's not forget about the pupusas, they were delicious!! Definitely coming back!

Very small restaurant that we have passed by several times. We started the meal with chips and salsa (very mild) if you like hotter just ask for some. We then had a pupusa, which comes with a spicy sour kraut. Then we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 street tacos with rice and beans. The fish tacos were my husbands favorite and I really enjoyed my carne asada tacos. The only reason for 4 stars was the noise and we will ask to sit outside when we come back (and yes we will be back)

Whoops! It was so good that I ate it all before I snapped a picture. What you would have seen was street tacos that were perfect!

The food was awesome and authentic. Atmosphere is quaint and very clean. The family that runs the place are always friendly. We come here for the food but always have a great experience too.

They have a happy hour and a different special every day of the week. We went on a Wednesday and their Wednesday special is $5 Margaritas. I ordered one and Dan waited to taste mine before he decided. It was huge and it was sweet. It tasted a bit like Kool Aid. I ordered it on the rocks. That was a mistake. When I suspect a margarita might be sweet and have lots of artificial ingredients, I usually order it frozen. The ice mutes the sweetness. Dan got a beer after tasting my Margarita. I ordered my usual chili rellenos. The breading was much too thick. I took it off and ate the pepper. The refried beans had a good flavor and the rice was okay. Dan got a chicken quesadilla al a carte. I love that they have an al a carte menu. His quesadilla had a lot of chicken and not much cheese. The juice of the chicken filled his plate and made the bottom side of the tortilla soggy. The service was spotty. We had to do some waiting for the waiter. The decor and the music were both loud. They didn't have the volume turned up high. It is just the style of Mexican music that I consider loud. Our favorite Mexican restaurant plays Mexican music that I find classy. I enjoy it. Their Mexican art is also softer. That's a matter of taste.

The $ amount isn't an issue if the food was amazing... but it wasn't. My wife and I had steak fajitas for 2, at $34. Steak was tough and flavorless, apparently lacking any seasoning. and not the sizzling heaping plate you would expect. This came with a side plate for each of us with bland flavorless beans, and equally unimpressive serving of bland rice, a TEASPOON of guac, a small dollop of sour cream and a pittance of shredded/ground cheese in a disposable cup -not even 1/2 filled .....seriously? The amount of guac and cheese was insulting...this entree was Priced way too high and did not deliver in flavor, quality or quantity! Lots of better choices all over the area for less money. Prices seem to be about 25%+ higher than comparable locations...and the quality and flavors aren't there for a premium price. My wife commented that "the flavors were suitable for a nursing home...it was all so bland."

It looks like it has to have been in a previous life, an old-time, small-town convenience store where you pull in, gas up the boat, fill the ice chest with cheap PBR, grab a pack of night -crawlers and head to the lake. Now, the small inconspicuous building is split down the middle. A dispensary providing medicinal stress relief to the community operates in the west side and the family owned and operated Taqueria El Sabor Jarocho restaurant fills the remaining half. Driving into Skiatook from Hwy 75, the restaurant is unnoticed, and is equally invisible as you leave town headed east; mostly hidden by the vehicles parked under the old gas station canopy. It looks more like a small used car lot. The letters stenciled on the border of the old canopy that once proclaimed the restaurants existence have faded to extinction. Inside there is a small dining area with six tables that occupy the restaurant's allotted half the structure. Somewhere behind the wall in the remaining space is a functioning kitchen. A damn good one! Chips and good mild salsa come with the meal. There are several other varieties of salsa available. All good. The one that was in the little to-go cup was the best. Flavorful, a little smokey and not extremely hot. I bet they have a green salsa too. Hot plates came to the table. My wife had the beef enchiladas covered in an authentic red sauce (not tomato sauce.) Plenty of flavor on the plate, nothing bland. Beans and rice, tasty delicious as they should be. I went with the Mega Burrito. A bloated over stuffed flour tortilla filled with equal amounts of beans, rice, fajita beef, cheese and a little lettuce. The burrito was covered in queso. Excellent! The dining environment ain't enticing, but the authentic Mexican food is. 4.8 stars from over 200 reviews on Google back that up. Very good service.

The menu features many Mexican food favorites. Enchiladas, burritos, tacos and more. They're cooked well and served in large portions by a helpful server. A note - some of the dishes are plain and include a protein charge. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm okay with it if it's explained. I was confused during my visit because my enchiladas listed a $2.50 protein charge, but the protein charge was for each enchilada not the plate, so my three enchilada plate was $7.50 more than it was listed because I asked for chicken. I don't necessarily feel cheated, however I was surprised when the server gave me the bill. $2.50 is one thing. $7.50 is a lot more.

As what was stated over the phone, the moment we walked in, we were seated. The place is very intimate in space, I'd recommend for dates. I went with the Enchiladas, something I've been craving for a couple of months & La Tertulia helped that fix. There were a few meats to choose from & I went with chorizo. The wait on the food wasn't long (people were starting to fill in as well & it didn't stop the servers from being on point) & the food was really good. Coming in with 3 enchiladas, stuffed with the chorizo & the fixins, I was left full after I finished. The spanish rice & pinto beans were good as well, paired good with the enchiladas. The chorizo looked more like breakfast sausage more than the chorizo that's more on the dark brown + reddish tint I'm used too. The enchiladas also come with chiles (I picked green) & plenty of cheese. Side Note: Chips & salsa were also super good, my favorite type of salsa. Kinda like a Taquera/Molcajete style. I was so hungry that the chips & salsa didn't slow me down from running through my main entree.
