I was very impressed with this little restaurant. Possibly an overlooked and misunderstood gem. First of all, it is authentic, so ignore the lame, misinformed assessments from the Taco Bell feeders and the Mexican food experts that always start their reviews with "I'm from [fill in the blank] and so I know authentic Mexican food." The food is not OkieMex. The slight noticeable difference, being milder spices and the food not floating in queso. Enough of what it is not. What is is..... Fresh, very fresh salsa, tasty salsa. Both the mild and the picante were excellent. Even without the level of heat that I usually demand in a salsa these were wonderful. Freshness wins here. The Salsa Roja Enchiladas (covered with a perfect red sauce) and the Chili Relleno were both overloaded with nicely seasoned ground beef. There was no skimping on the meat. Sides of tasty, smooth refried beans and pleasantly flavored rice. Two very enjoyable meals. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive throughout the meal. The visible cleanliness and upkeep of the small restaurant made a very favorable impression. Not what is typical for these small town, repurposed structures. I have absolutely no negative critique to offer.

Random shopping and dinner after hiking in the keystones. Probably the best street tacos I've had in ages. Great staff, clean and very friendly! guiding me away from some dishes due to my allergy Will absolutely be returning on our next trip

This place is such a good find. By far the best Mexican restaurant in sand springs, and my new go to. The service was awesome, very friendly and speedy. The chips and salsa were DELICIOUS. The salsa was very flavorful, and it was a crowd pleaser; not very spicy but still very flavorful. My whole group loved everything that they got. I got the Central American breakfast because I am a huge breakfast lover. Loved it, so flavorful and delicious. They came with tortillas as well, so quite a bang for your buck. The pupusas were great as well! I'm so glad that sand springs has a place like this. Authentic, and fresh. Hopefully you get to experience this wonderful place as well!

We love this place. Especially on taco Tuesdays-street tacos are $1.25 and they are amazing. Along with chips a salsa. They also have some amazing chicken tortilla soup, has lots of flavor and veggies! With onion, cilantro, lime and jalapeños on the side..... So good!

I took my mom & aunt and everything we ordered was amazing! Everything was freshly made and portions were good too! I had the plátano frito while both my mom & aunt order pupusas. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of my plate but it was gooood and let's not forget about the pupusas, they were delicious!! Definitely coming back!

Very small restaurant that we have passed by several times. We started the meal with chips and salsa (very mild) if you like hotter just ask for some. We then had a pupusa, which comes with a spicy sour kraut. Then we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 street tacos with rice and beans. The fish tacos were my husbands favorite and I really enjoyed my carne asada tacos. The only reason for 4 stars was the noise and we will ask to sit outside when we come back (and yes we will be back)

Whoops! It was so good that I ate it all before I snapped a picture. What you would have seen was street tacos that were perfect!

The food was awesome and authentic. Atmosphere is quaint and very clean. The family that runs the place are always friendly. We come here for the food but always have a great experience too.

My…read morefirst visit to any Pollo Campero location left me thinking that I may have found an adequate replacement. I ordered a 2 piece dark meal with sides of coleslaw and corn tortillas. The chicken was served almost too hot to eat, which I very much liked. The breading was a bit too sweet and heavy, but I have worse at other places. There were delicious crispy bits of skin on each piece, and all of the chicken was completely cooked. I didn't expect much out of the coleslaw. When I order coleslaw at most quick-service restaurants, it's usually too sweet, too warm, or both. This was neither. Although it was sweet, it was just below my personal threshold for too sweet. After my first two bites, I was delighted to have the next two bites colder(!). I think that coleslaw tastes better when served cold, and that extra burst of cold told me that they kept this particular batch of coleslaw cold before they served it to me. I had a smaller appetite at lunch, so I saved the corn tortillas for later. They were fine accompaniments to a later meal. The speed of service was fast for me but slow for my dining companion. His meal took twice as long to arrive as mine. Then the server forgot to bring out silverware for him. He had to return to the front cash register to request some. On the other hand, it's nice to visit a quick-service restaurant that provides metal silverware instead of plastic silverware. They also serve their food on colorful ceramic plates. Definitely plan to return to try the white meat fried chicken and the grilled chicken.

Yay for one more Honduran restaurant in Tulsa! If you haven't tried their food yet and wonder what…read moreit's like...similar to other Central American countries, the staple ingredients are corn, beans, tomatoes, salty cheese, grilled meats (chicken, pork, beef) and seafood. It's different though in that it also uses tropical fruits like plantain and coconut, reflecting the African and Caribbean influence. If it's your first time trying it, I'd suggest the baleada--folded wheat-flour tortillas with stuffing of your choice (fried and mashed red beans/meat and avocado/scrambled eggs), crumbled white cheese and Honduran-style sour cream. I also recommend the tajadas--sliced and fried green plantains with cabbage and other veggies and the meat of your choice (ground beef/chicken). It's a lot of food, so you might need a to go box. For drinks, my favorite is the tamarind water. It's so refreshing! To end your meal, ask if they have any semitas. They're like the Honduran version of conchas (a lightly sweet bread covered in a crunchy sugar cookie-esque topping) but dare I say---even more delicious! I usually just eat the sugary top of conchas but the semita bread itself is so good on its own. I'll come back to get just a bag of those. The space itself is definitely bigger than what it looks like outside. It's noticeable that they've done a lot of remodeling inside. There's plenty of seating space and a spacious bar in the back. The service was amazing! Super friendly and helpful. Aly, the owner, was there when I came in and since they weren't busy, he took the time to welcome me and tell me more about his business. He also owns the hot dog carts parked near the exits of Lowe's in midtown and Broken Arrow (which are amazing!). He also has them on their menu. Oh and if you're wondering what Catrachitos means, it's the diminutive of "catrachos", a nickname for a Honduran, which comes from a victorious 19th century general. It's also a dish consisting of fried corn with beans and cheese.

Genuine Mexican food made from scratch!…read more This is authentic Mexican food with flavor. Three birria beef filled tacos and a side of beans for me. My wife had the sopes. The tacos were generously filled with tender well-seasoned beef, sprinkled with onion bits and a few cilantro leaves, folded in fresh house made corn tortillas. The ubiquitous Mexican restaurant green and red plastic bottles of salsa were delivered with the plates of food. Tasty salsas essential for bringing the heat and spice up to my standards. These were delicious. With the beans it was a filling plate of food. My wife had the sopes with chopped steak. A thick crispy corn tortilla, a layer of beans, piled with chopped steak, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and all decorated with queso fresco and sour cream. Two were a meal. Table service, food served on real plates not foam to go containers, no chips and salsa. Excellent friendly service from the young lady working today. The little restaurant is clean and comfortable. The menus are different though, this is the only location that has a full breakfast menu. Their hours are a bit different as well (this location closes at 6pm as of now). The family is from Jalisco and their menu offers staple Mexican dishes like fajitas, enchiladas and chiles rellenos. Can't wait to try their shrimp ceviche. I first contacted them because I needed to order trays of breakfast tacos for an event. Breakfast tacos are extremely hard to find in Tulsa! After calling 5 different places with no luck, I finally found them. They have them as part of a platter with rice and beans but they were willing to only make the tacos for me. Customer service was extremely friendly, flexible, and helpful! Not only were they willing to make a bunch of tacos for me as a special catering order, but they also opened earlier than usual on a Saturday morning so they would be fresh for the event. They handmade the corn tortillas that morning! I could've just eaten the tortillas by themselves, they were SO good! The tacos had two tortillas, scrambled eggs, chorizo, avocado, combo cheese and sour cream. They were so good! They also made some without chorizo in case of dietary needs. I really appreciated them being flexible and going above and beyond for me. I will be returning soon to try their camarones a la diabla (spicy shrimp) and their full breakfast menu. Their chilaquiles look amazing and they let you have half with green salsa and half with red!
