Came here around 9pm on a Friday night and surprisingly it wasn't so busy. There was loud music and spacious seating! Our server didn't speak English but lucky enough my friends did so it was a smooth process but regardless he was extremely kind and patient with explaining the menu and waiting for my friends to translate everything. Overall the place was clean. We ordered as family style and had ceviche, tacos, enchiladas, and sushi (cause why not try sushi at a Mexican restaurant?) and they were all so fresh!!! This place blew my mind due to the "hole in the wall" ambiance but honestly, the best foods comes from Places that's hidden. Even the sushi and ceviche seafood was very refreshing. Went by today with my husband and sat at the bar. He ordered a michelada & beer to drink. We ordered the salmon roll which was delicious for an appetizer. For our main courses he ordered the tilapia fish I think it was, and it was so delicious & hot. I ordered the poblano shrimp with veggies and rice. It was delicious but just wish my food was hot when it came out. The customer service from the tall guy bartender was great. This place is like a hidden Gem!I think it's in a shopping center on the corner of Bel Air Blvd. and Renwick. Been going there for 15 years never never had any food that was not wonderful. I'm 82 years old and I still enjoy a variety of foods. They have the best sushi that I have ever had they have a fusion of Latin American "not Tex-Mex" seafood, wonderful tacos. They do not call them fajitas, but they have a wonderful grill plate of meat and chicken that is done in fajita style the best Chinese fried rice and vegetables and tempura shrimp in a combination or grilled fish or fried fish. It is always always fresh. Of course the owners also own Mikado so you know the quality of their sushi the prices are ultra reasonable. The service is always very friendly. Very efficient very fast. You do not have to wait even when they're super busy. I always sit at the bar because I love to watch the make sushi and see all the food coming out of the kitchen. They're reasonable prices and their very well bar. Drinks are beautiful and amazing. They serve premium of wine at a very inexpensive cost making the experience fun in on Friday and Saturday they have music you can either sit where the music is or you can sit where it's brighter and quieter. They accommodate very large parties very efficiently. Even the customers are super respectful and friendly. The place is ultra clean even though there's no "lavish interior" amenities it's very casual you can go dressed up or you can go in your casual clothes. The staff always access if you're family I would highly recommend this place. The music is only on Friday and Saturday and does not start until 10 PM and you can sit in the section where the music is pretty far away. read more

For service I wish I could give this place a 1. They aren't nice here, the host had a really bad attitude when telling us we couldn't wait inside when we where sitting on the couch. Mind you it was freezing outside. I just think they could've been nicer when asking us to wait outside. We also didn't have anyone come to our table to ask us for our drink order for a good 10-15 mins and when they did she said I'm not your server but I'm going to help get you some drinks which was nice. Do not listen to the bad reviews on ElPacifico! We've been here twice now and it's become one of my favorite restaurants! Sure, the service can be a little lacking but when you're used to China Town quality service this is not that bad. First off the food! We started with the appetizer sampler and it was amazing! The empenadas were pretty good. I loved the shrimp stuffed peppers and the wings were spicy. Such a good deal for $9. My husband got the spicy tuna roll which was jut average but still fresh. I loved the mescada which is a type of seafood soup in a thick broth. They do not skimp on the seafood. There were mussels, shrimp, baby octopus in a rich tomato broth. Everyone is right on with their reviews - it is an average joint in an interesting neighborhood and an unusual concept - a Latin-Japanese fusion restaurant advertising seafood and sushi. Sushi options are limited - a few types of fish can be ordered by the piece. The menu is heavy with cooked foods, like tempura, noodles, sandwiches. There are some sashimi/tiradito platters that can be ordered by the fish, a list of specials and then on weekends, the $5 roll menu. Between 3 of us, we had the jalepeno poppers stuffed with seafood, a small ceviche (crab, shrimp, oyster and octopus), 4 $5 rolls, and the yuzu yellowtail special. They gave me a big amount of spicy ponzu sauce with green onion. Props for having nanami togarashi on the tables. Big space, loud Tejano music/TV in background, lots of big screen TVs, we were seated at a half-moon shaped booth which was a bit weird. Pros +1 Togarashi +1 spicy as hell ponzu +1 yuzu sauce on menu +1 raw fresh jalepenos used +1 cheap cheap cheap (next time, 6 oysters is $3.99, poppers were $3.99, rolls $5...) I come here with my coworkers and it such a great lunch spot. The Sinaloa ceviche is delicious and right amount of spice and lime. The fish tacos are great and I love the green sauce. They change special comes with two tacos and fried rice and steamed veggies, which fill me up and is great for the price! Overall- this please was ok. It's a hit or miss when it comes to certain dishes. I tried out a few different things and some I enjoyed and some were just flavorless. On a good note, the waitress we had was very nice and sweet. Delicious items: Flaming lobster roll - it was very cool the sauce came on fire. Visually pleasing, the tempura batter was good as well as the Mayo on it. Seared Tuna - now this was not my taste or preference but I can see how other people would like it. It was seared tuna topped with a citrus lime mango topping. If you like sou/tangy, this is for you. Fried rice- this was good and soy saucy. Not the best but was pretty decent. Won't order again: Fried Fish and Shrimp platter- the fish was ok, but the shrimp was flattened, hard coating and had absolutely no flavor. Couldn't even eat it after the first bite. The veggies it came with also didn't have a distinguishable flavor. Salt would've added flavor to it... The caravana roll- now it wasn't horrible, but it was a little fishy. It was a roll on top of a slice of cucumber surrounded by a liquid bath with alcohol in it. The waitress was supposed to light it on fire in front of you, but it wouldn't light after 6-7 attempts. Environment- cocncrete stained floors, high ceilings and dark. It was a "club like" feel when dining there. Small stage set in the corner in which I believe this place used to turn into a club, after hours. I unfortunately didn't get to try the Latin dishes but my friend raves about this place. i was surprised to have found this restaurant from the Miyako group so my friends and i were pretty interested and decided to give it a try. Frankly, El Pacifico was just like Mambo, food-wise and price-wise, but much more nicely decorated with big screen TV's, a full bar, and pub-like lighting. Located on Hillcroft by Renwick, its target customers were obviously the Hispanic. The menu included a number of sushi rolls but not much in sashimi/ sushi selections. If you had seen the restaurant website, the menu posted online was outdated and NOT TRUE because the menu actually used at the restaurant was totally different as all items were marked up by $2.00 from Miso soup to seafood combo, and some items such as oysters on half shells and Yaki Udon (stir-fried udon noodles) were even missing! (Note: Raw oysters and Yaki Udon were some of the items that attracted me to the restaurant *sighs*) Anyways, speaking of the foods and service, it was worth 2.5 to 3 stars overall. We order two seafood combos (3 items for $16.95 and 2 items for $11.95) served with toasts, fried rice and french fries. The shrimp and Tilapia tempura were good probably because I personally loved the crispy tempura batter a lot; however, the shrimp scampi was kinda dry (Mambo had done much better in the scampi). The shrimp fried rice and french fries on the sides were yummy! The grilled shrimp and fish on a friend's combo platter seemed just okay since he did not say anything about the foods (no compliment or complaint). The best thing that everyone of us enjoyed was the seafood cocktail with a crab leg (small bowl for $7.95) that was very delicious and well presented :) A girlfriend ordered two sushi rolls that looked pretty good and the sushi roll menu was exactly like Miyako's, meaning that they were nothing special or impressive. She also wanted the chopped scallop sushi but the server said something like the sushi bar had no sushi or something like that.....I got myself the Baked Miso Tilapia served with avocado maki rolls and fried rice & veggie, of which everything tasted not bad. But, my entree was delayed by at least 30 minutes, and finally came to our table while my friends were almost done with their foods.....so, i assumed it took 30 minutes just to bake that one little piece of fish?! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!! Service was a serious problem here! First of all, most of the servers spoke very limited English. They were nice young ladies trying to do the jobs right by coming over to our booth a couple of times asking if everything was fine; yet, when we actually asked for something, they did not understand what they were asking for and just brought us the wrong things repeatedly. For example, i asked for Tempura dipping sauce, and this lady brought me some Ranch and said it was the only sauce she could find in the kitchen (ehhhh......OK, that's fine. i liked Ranch, too, but it just didn't really go well with the Tempura....) And then we asked another lady for Wasabi for the sushi, but she brought over the Teriyaki sauce!! We had to throw out all kinds of simple adjectives to describe what Wasabi looked like and Yesh! she finally got it and brought us the right thing, a cube of Wasabi paste. Then, we asked for a dipping saucer for the Wasabi and soy sauce; to make our request more understandable, we pointed to one of the saucers on the table and asked if she could bring us another saucer, but she misunderstood our request and got us extra Teriyaki sauce. Lastly, we asked the server to split the check, but she did not split it right so we asked if she could fix it and redo the checks; however, she said no, she didn't wanna do that, because if she had to ask the manager to redo the checks, the manager might think she was stupid (huh?!?!? alright, whatever! so, we had to split the checks on our own). I don't see myself going back to El Pacifico. If I want inexpensive seafood, imma head to Mambo just 2 blocks down the street on Hillcroft x Bellaire. Mambo serves better foods and has smarter servers :) read more

I had the dumplings; jalapeño pork...it had a nice kick. & my 2nd dish was fried stuffed jalapeños. It was ok..quite fishy. The rolls were $8 but I passed it up... Ppl were enjoying the dancing with the live band, kinda like at taco Milagro. The decor is weird, & staff s way over dressed. In baby blue satin tie..there's just too much going on the place. If it wasn't for my friend, I probably never check it out. Don't get me wrong I love hole in the wall joints or new spots...this place didn't even make it on my list.
