Best bean burrito of my entire life. The smell when you walk up to this place...... definitely sets you up for the amazing meal you are about to have. Just simply INCREDIBLE. Absolutely recommend if you are in Santa Fe!! The workers were really kind and helpful at the counter. I you el parasol I will be back!

Craving spicy queso and chips! They dont have queso so I settled for refried beans with cheese and salsa. It was delicious! Salsa is average, needs salt, beans too! Price was $12.00. I am a NM local so I've got high standards for this type of craving. Salsa was medium, no burn, flavor was good. Service is perfect. Place is clean and quiet for early mornings.

The air conditioning was excellent. Best ever. Restrooms were exceptionally clean. highly recommend. Also really enjoyed the chicken tacos.

I've heard a lot of great things about this restaurant, and I was excited to try it coming from out of town. Coming from Chicago and growing up around a lot of authentic Mexican food, I was looking forward to try a place that was marketed to me as authentic. A lot of the things on the menu did seem authentic, but they didn't have your standard Mexican street tacos with cilantro and onion, so some did seem pretty Americanized (eg lettuce and cheese). The steak taco was very good and the guacamole was tasty. I had heard the carne adovada was a must try, so I ordered it, and while the meat was seasoned and cooked very well, I thought the burrito was just okay. Being just meat in a tortilla, the burrito left a bit to be desired for me. Overall good, but I don't think I'd make a special trip back.

Every time I go to Santa Fe this place is an absolute must. Burritos are great but the chicken tacos with guacamole are the best!! Make sure you eat here if you're ever traveling through you won't be disappointed.

Eating El Pasasol meal inside our motor home with intense rain, thunder, and lightning Santa Fe, NM June 6, 2023

June 6, 2023 - El Parasol Restaurant (Santa Fe, NM) We came here in search of a quick authentic Mexican food meal we could take back to our motor home at a nearby RV park. A dark storm was looming and we wanted to take it all in as we sat inside our cozy little RV with a glass of delicious California red wine, some warm posole (Mexican soup), and tacos. We showed up around 5:30 and got our order in pretty quickly. The woman at the register was friendly and efficient. Good service! We got a 16 oz. cup of beef posole, 2 beef tacos, and a vegetarian taco. They also do phone orders, so if you want to speed things up, call it in. It took about 10 minutes for our order to be filled. The restaurant is quite nice, with ample tables and chairs and a self-serve drink machine. Beautiful Mexican theme. A much classier version of a Taco Bell with much more authentic Mexican food. Food comes out on a self serve tray if you're dining in with styrofoam containers and foil wrap burritos. Our to-go food came in a brown paper bag with plastic eating utensils, napkins, and a container of red and green hot sauce - very hot sauce! Red much hotter than green. We got back to the motor home 5 minutes away and chowed down. The green chili posole was both temperature hot and spicy hot. I had to let it cool off before I could eat it. It was flavorful! The beef taco was to my liking, with a crisp fried corn shell and seasoned shredded beef, lettuce, and shredded cheddar cheese inside. Not gourmet quality but better than Jack in The Box. Not bad for a $4 taco. Wish I had remembered to add a little of their hot sauce. That could have amped things up a bit! I didn't try the vegetarian taco but my wife said it was good. Overall, the food was reasonable for the $21 we spent and it made being in the storm very enjoyable with rain, Thunder, and lightning filling the sky!

Nice variety of items on their menu. I really enjoyed the shredded beef taco and green chile chicken tamale. The tamale was much bigger than expected which was a nice surprise and packed good amount of heat! Their cookies are also delicious!

This place is off the beaten path and away from downtown, but it is worth the drive!! Amazing food-very well priced!

    Bacon Burrito Breakfast

Staff is not friendly except for the girl who answers the phones, eggs have a greyish unsettling color to them in the burritos this was unfortunately a bust.

Unfortunately I was highly disappointed by food and service. I ordered fish and shrimp taco. The food wasn't bad but it's didn't come with a side of salsa or any sort of sauce. It did comes with a side of rice which I felt was under seasoned. The service was slow. I walked in around 1pm and door was locked. I was surprised to find them close even though online says that they are open at 11am that day. I checked on google and it was suppose to be open. I called and they said that they are open but waiting for alcohol to be delivered at 3pm. Did they assume that every customer coming in is ordering alcohol? As far as I understand this is a restaurant that serves food and alcohol and not a bar. Shortly after my arrival, there was a large tour with 12 people showed up. I could see that the waiter was a bit flustered because he also had to tend to other customer as well as the tour. I guess this is where the tour take people for authentic taco experience. In my opinion these are more toned down gringo tacos. My taco didn't come with a side of sauce like everyone else. I also noticed that the tour all received a side of salsa which I didn't. I'm not sure if the waiter forgot. I had to flag down the waiter a few time because he also forgot my drink. I also ordered an agua Fresca watermelon and it wasn't made of real watermelon but flavor syrup from the bar. I wished I had known that it wasn't real melon. 2.5 stars for the food and 2 for service. Again food wasn't terrible, but certainly wasn't close to be the best.

Apparently moles aren't all dark chocolate spicy sauces ... ?!?? Loved the education and samples. I'm typically not a mole fan, but they were fun to try. We had the octopus but to me the sauce was too oily. The actual octopus was tender and delicious. Also had the duck skin tacos which were more of a minced duck meat taco and delish. The 5 stars go for impeccable service and the SOUP. This soup is not to be missed. Nothing on paper makes me think it should work but it totally does. We were seated immediately but waited about ten minutes before anyone greeted us. When our server finally arrived, he wished us a happy anniversary--even though it wasn't our anniversary. While not a major issue, it's the kind of detail a restaurant at this price point should get right. After ordering drinks, water, and our meals, we were told everything was available except the duck. My wife ordered the sopa de amora and the halibut special. I ordered the frijole negro and attempted to order the Popocatépetl, only to be told it was unavailable that evening. Instead, I was offered a $90 Wagyu steak. For a restaurant of this caliber, the menu should be updated or guests should be informed of major changes upfront. It felt like a bait-and-switch. Our drinks arrived, but after finishing our water, we were told more would be brought out. It never arrived until dessert, when I had to ask again. The frijole negro was excellent--the best dish of the night. Unfortunately, my wife's soup was disappointing. We were told it had to be eaten from top to bottom or bottom to top for the flavors to work properly, and this explanation was delivered in a somewhat condescending manner. Despite being described as "the best soup in the state," the flavors simply felt off. For the entrées, my steak was good, but the rice was overcooked and mushy. My wife's halibut was completely under-seasoned, and her rice was equally inedible. Dessert was better. The crepes were enjoyable, though the walnuts were noticeably burnt. I don't usually nitpick, but when a restaurant charges premium prices, the food and service should justify the cost. Unfortunately, both were mediocre, and the overall experience fell far short of expectations.
