We went for lunch and both had beer burritos with rice and beans. The lunch comes with a homemade chicken soup right out of grandmas pot. Super fresh, tasty, filling of chicken and great authentic flavor. The beef burritos were super tasty, piping hot among with rice and beans. Great service, great prices and good portions. The restaurant had the RUDEST waitresses I have ever in my life seen in a restaurant. They select who they will and will not serve. I have never in my life walked out of a restaurant but did this one. Music blasting loud and it was not Mexican nor Spanish which the restaurant claims to be, and when you sit down they serve a basket of stale greasy chips. I should have known it was bad when on a weekend there were only a few days tables busy! They are rude and non accommodating. Places are not that spacious so we asked her: is it ok if we sit here (a table for six). Her response: well I don't know if a bigger party will show up (for the record, no bigger party showed up while we ate there). So we sat in a table of four. And then we got ignored for a good 20 minutes. The best thing I had there was the fried ice cream and that's because it was tasty. The rest of the food was bland. Even the lemonade was bland. I have visited this restaurant a few times already. The food is consistently the same however, being a popular restaurant I believe that they can afford a little bit of an update to their place. Definitely looks very aged and outdated. Lighting is very bad, There's a few stains on the ceiling, and vents covers missing., the music it's very not my favorite. Customer service is decent. The waitresses are very polite and explain really well every dish. My favorite plate is the Cuban combo which is a plate with pork, chicken, meat, white rice, black beans, and fried plantains or tostones. Food flavors are good. My wife ordered fried mojarra with white rice salad and tostones. The fish needed to be a bit more crispy... flavor was decent. Overall, this restaurant is decent and I like it because the prices are still very affordable and the food is consistent. Stay away from the nachos they give you NINE tortillas chips with whatever choice of meat you want, melted cheese and a a few shreds of lettuces and tomatoes. read more

This place definitely has a unique curb appeal. There are off painted statues in the parking lot. The decor has never been updated but you come for the predictable, Easy, no frills Mexican food. Tastes yummy, and filling if you don't expect gourmet dining. The margarita was a little syrupy but the chips and salsa were on the table within the first 2 minutes of sitting down. Finally a Mexican restaurant that serves "real" Tex-mex food. Having moved to Miami from Texas (where we lived for 30 years) we have lamented the issue of not being able to find a good Mexican restaurant. We've scoured the area from Pompano Beach down through Miami to no avail until we came to El Paso II. This restaurant is the real deal with a great queso, super fajitas and great enchiladas and tacos. Chips were solid (good for dipping into the queso without breaking). Only food issue was the Chili Relleno which was too tough to even cut! In addition the service is spotty. Our first visit the service was perfect. Our second visit was just the opposite. If you want real Tex-Mex food, this is the go to restaurant in southeastern Florida. Just be aware of the few issues we mentioned. read more

My girlfriend and I had dinner there last night St Patrick's night. We didn't even realize there was an early bird and we got there like 10 after 6:00 so I said oh could we still have the early bird no so we ordered fajitas and when they came yes it was sizzling to where it was like overcooked you could hardly find any onions or peppers in it and I'm eating there before and the food was good and it came with rice and beans and enough sour cream that you could do for tortillas I mean it was so skimpy and she charged for the rice and beans and they were cold and I told her that she didn't bother to give us anything other than what she brought out. The worst waitress ever well I don't know if she's busy up there taking money at the register so I don't know if that was her job also. But I've been there a number of times to eat with other friends and everything was good and I believe we even got chicken soup with our meal. So I'll never come back there again that's another restaurant off our list. Should have not even paid for it. I have been to El Paso II several times. Located on Federal Highway between Taft Street and Sheridan Street, if you blink, you may miss it. It's a small restaurant with a smaller dining area. I have had the takeout, but tonight was a local date night, so we dined in. They have cozy booths, so that's where we sat. They have a good selection of margaritas and beer. Our waitress waited on us immediately. We had 2 margaritas, and they packed a punch. I ordered the 2 tacos steak mexican style, and my husband had the Jalisco special. We snacked on the complimentary salsa and chips while we waited. The food is fresh and delicious. The prices are reasonable too. We enjoyed everything. One of my coworkers said he's been coming to this restaurant for years and recommended I should give it a try. Last week I decided to call in a lunch order and upon arrival the lady had gotten my entire order wrong. While I was waiting for a re-do, I couldn't help but notice that there were only two tables filled and that it didn't smell good inside. Usually the scent of a Mexican restaurant is heavenly, however this was more cheap floor cleaner and a musty wet smell. They sent me off with some extras for free since they got the order incorrect, which I thought was really nice. I happily walked out the door expecting to give the extra meals to my coworkers. When I opened the box for my chicken tacos I was very shocked to see unseasoned chicken and ICE in the tacos. Some of the ice cubes had already melted and the underside of the tortillas were completely soaked. The meat did not smell fresh at all. It looked awful. Mama didn't raise no wimp so I took a bite and immediately regretted it. I thought to myself at least they gave me a few other options to try. When I took a bite of the cheese enchilada I was disappointed at the oily cheese and lack of freshness and flavor. The rice and refried beans were disgusting as well. My third option was the chicken salad that I cautiously offered my coworker. She said she would give it a try and remarked that it wasn't terrible. This has been my go to spot for Mexican food in the Hollywood area! The food is always fresh, delicious, and they serve very large portions- so I always end up leaving with at least another meal or two for the next day. I highly recommend the tongue taco (lengua), but have not tried anything I would not order again here. The atmosphere is a little divey which I really enjoy and they always have good music playing. The wait staff is always very accommodating, attentive, and have just seemed like they are in a great mood. The chips and salsa are also top notch which is sadly not the case with many other Mexican restaurants I've tried. The menu is also huge so there is something for everyone- while I have always been someone that dislikes when a restaurant has an overly large menu or options; this place pulls it off and the descriptions for each item are entertaining to say the least. I've been there several times and the food is good and they have a good variety -- with many seafood dishes as well as beef, chicken and pork. Their tortilla chips are fairly bland though and salsa very thin. I recently ordered the "Crazy Pizza" appetizer and there was a small wooden stick piece in it (maybe part of a skewer?) and I bit into it and it was as hard as a rock. So that wasn't good. The staff is friendly and fast however. The parking lot is fairly small but I've always been able to find an open space. read more

We have dined at El Paso a few times since moving to this side of town and I am so glad we found a Mexican spot close by. To be 100% honest, this is definitely not the best Mexican food I have ever had but it's also not the worst. The presentation isn't beautiful but what authentic Mexican food ever is? The service is not always the best, but the table gets cleared, and our waters are full (most of the time). You get chips and salsa at the table upon being seated, but you will only get one free refill, so don't go thinking it's bottomless! With all of that being said, we have returned many times and will continue too but most of the food is super tasty and you can't beat the portion sizes or the price! I would recommend staying away from the Chile Relleno. Chile Rellenos have always been one of my absolute favorite Mexican dishes but when we bit into this one both myself and my boyfriend could taste that something was wrong. It almost tasted as if the batter or the pepper had gone bad, like a weird, sweet taste that did not belong at all. It was inedible and we ended up just leaving it on the plate. Also, the rice and beans can be a bit bland but they have salsa and salt and pepper on the table to spice them up. Now onto the great parts! The flautas are AWESOME, crispy and fried wonderfully. They are filled with seasoned chicken and lots of flavor, I would definitely recommend them. Also, the fajitas! We ordered the chicken fajitas for one person and shared it between two of us. The sizzle on the skillet had gone completely out by the time our tortilla made it to the table, BUT the chicken, peppers, and onions were seasoned and prepared perfectly. The topping were a bit lacking but as long as you have some salsa leftover from your chips and grab a bit of cheese and sour cream, you can't go wrong. We have also ordered an ala carte tongue taco that was really really tasty and served with an incredible spicy salsa verde. I also highly recommend the carafe of sangria, can't beat the size and price! Overall, El Paso is worth a visit. I have my complaints but the good definitely outweighs the bad with this one. The fajitas are a great deal, and the tacos are street style and wonderful. Don't come too hungry though or you'll fill up on chips before your food arrives! read more

8-6-22 7pm Pickup Years ago when I moved to East Hollywood I would come to this restaurant as it was Italian. Knew the owner who was a neighbor that retired in North Florida. So than it became a Mexican restaurant. I always wanted to try but truthfully there is so many Mexican restaurants to chose from around here. So tonight we wanted Mexican my usual place in Downtown is no longer good. So new place needed close. We reviewed the menu and called to place our order. Surprised not to see Cheese dip but they had it so we ordered that with chips. Hubby got soft beef tacos, my son the steak burrito and myself my favorite Chile Relleno as a meal with rice and beans. They said 10 minutes which seemed crazy fast but headed right over. Though it was early their parking lot out front was packed. Once inside we paid for our food and wait just a couple minutes before it came out. My son went to see if the mural was on the wall from the previous Italian restaurant but it was long gone. Once home we all took our respective meals and ate. Of course with commentary....I try to be positive one Chile poblano pepper heavily battered and sauced. The seeds were removed thankfully, as I picked off the batter on the pepper. As I write this review the food kicked in and perhaps by morning will be revised to a two as I head to the bathroom. Filthy and horrible service! Desiring Mexican we searched for a place near us. El Paso II popped up and I wish it didn't. First, it took a long time to order. The wait staff acted as if we were invisible. The place was not busy at all. When we finally got to order, we started with a Mexican Pizza. The waitress brought three plates. One plate was clearly dirty with caked on cilantro. The waitress acted bothered by our desire for a clean plate. When the "Mexican pizza" came out it was slop on a platter. After an amazingly long wait the entrees were served. My wife's order was wrong but both of our plates were clearly burnt to the point of brittle. The chicken in my son's enchiladas was clearly raw.
