Amazing quick dinner before we walked the Hollywood Broadwalk today. I had seen a recent article on The Mermaid Queen and her owner so I decided to come back to refresh my memory on our experience here. I noticed a new appetizer menu so we opted to try two things from there. My husband had the ceviche Tostada and I had the mushroom Ceviche. He loved the tostada and o-m-g that mushroom ceviche hits it outta the park! So so so so good! Truly a unique dish with simple and fresh flavors. For entrees I had the mushroom tacos with corn and my husband has the mahi burrito. Both were phenomenal..we would definitely order these items again although I do want to expand to some of the other mushroom items. Overall amazing dinner with an beautiful view of Hollywood Beach. I came for Memorial Day lunch and was blown away! This place delivered. The Food. I went with the Taco Combo, which let's you pick two tacos. Both choices were exceptional. (1) First up: the Baja Taco, which had Tempura-Battered Maji Maji, Pico, Sweet Onions, Flour Tortilla. The fish had an incredible crunch that gave way to the flaky, fresh fish beneath. Excellent. (2) Next: Short Rib Taco (Sweet, Savory, and Spicy, Au Jus/Ropa Vieja-esque, Flour Tortilla). The quality, on point. Like, not just good for a beach-side spot, flat out good. The Service and View. Yeni's service was world-class. Attentive, warm, and made the whole experience feel relaxed, amid a busy holiday. And, oceanfront seating on Memorial Day? Doesn't get much better than that. Overall. Drinks in a pineapple, beer, views of the ocean. How can you complain. Chips and guacamole yummy! Chicken was spicier than they said, so some of my friends couldn't eat it. Banana daiquiri was good but seems like cheap liquor. read more

FRESH, delicious & friendly! Walked up because I was hungry after beach time and it sits right on Hollywood boardwalk. Was quickly sat at a table and served! Ordered the ceviche and a piña colada. The ceviche has shrimp, mahi mahi and is SOOO delicious. They put some sort of seasonings on their chips that is to die for. Their food is light so I was able to hit the beach after with no bloat. Very allergy friendly! (i'm gluten and dairy free) Now i'm back a 2nd time in one week, got the salad bowl with chicken and a Patron marg. Brought my pup along! DOG FRIENDLY!! She LOVED her steak. On vacation on Hollywood beach! Went to this restaurant twice, once during lunch time & once during dinner to test it out. food was hit or miss (steak burrito - incredible. Guac - incredible! lemon garlic shrimp - overcooked & their nachos were large & lots of tasty toppings but ground beef was bland). Overall - thought it was filling for the portions & price! however, the service was mediocre at best. During lunch, we were maybe 1 of 10 tables, dinner 1 of 15 and the service was incredibly slow! slow to get water, slow to order & slow to get the bill. You are sitting in a beautiful area - ocean view & right on the broadwalk in a less busy area so you have a great view while waiting, but we sure did do a LOT of waiting. read more

A lot of things went well here! We were on a family trip and we went to three restaurants and this one was our favorite. If you sit outside it has a great view of the beach and the customer service was great! my daughters had piña colada for the first time and they said it was amazing! We arrived early (5 pm) and there was limited seating. We were able to sit outside with an ocean view and received excellent service from Roberto. We ordered a Maimi Vice - very good frozen drink and a beer. We ordered the ceviche, a large portion for a good price, which was delicious. We had shrimp and mahi tacos which were super flavorful and fresh. It came with corn on the cob (mediocre, but it's February obviously not fresh). Overall very good experience! read more

In the area a day ahead of our cruise departure and hit MQ for dinner. We were quickly seated...outdoors but under cover with a view of the beach. Staff courteous and present throughout the meal. All dishes arrived hot and very flavorful...fish hot and crispy with nicely seasoned chips/fries. Tacos soft with plenty of meat; shrimp dinner also a hit. Main drawback was the 30 minute wait between ordering and receiving our food. Team brought chips and guacamole (on the house) to the table after about 25 minutes...nice gesture...driver of the one star deduction. Note that parking is a challenge (limited and construction in the area) with the nearby garage charging $9 per hour. Slow service resulted in an $18 parking charge. Also, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill though that is disclosed in the menu. Still great food and a great view with a quality service staff. read more

Stopped in around 8:30pm on a Sunday night after craving tacos all day. It was fairly quiet with a good amount of available seating. I sat outside on the broadwalk which is great for people-watching, even later at night. I ordered a margarita to start - it was on the sweet side and not my favorite margarita. I didn't even finish it as a result of it being so sweet. I had the salmon tostada, a carnitas taco, and a mushroom taco. Everything was pretty average. I expected more flavor, especially given the cost of the food. If the tacos had more of the cilantro(?) sauce, they would be better! The service was okay - more attentive at first and then less so by the end of the meal. I had to flag down the server to pay and get going. Overall, great ambiance but food, drinks, and service were lacking and not quite worth those beachside costs. read more

Great food. OK service. Outrageously expensive!! $93 for 2 people for lunch!!!!!Skinny margaritas were $20 each! (We should have asked how much they were...but who would have thought??). We came here on a whim and were so pleasantly surprised! The view is unbeatable- we got seating outside right on the boardwalk overseeing the beach. Our waiter brought us the menus and we ordered the quesadilla and the burrito- both appropriately priced for the area. The food tasted great and we would definitely come back and repeat. If you're in the area, I recommend trying this place. If there's no tables available outside, you'll be just as happy inside with AC and the beautiful decor. read more

A very nice dining experience! Swordfish steaks, grilled with rosemary, were amazing, and with half a grilled lemon on the side. Bok Choi with mushrooms, grilled potato with onion, Mexican fries, beautiful small salad were side choices. Portions were perfect, not overly huge. We visited during off-peak hours, but despite the restaurant not being very busy, service was extremely slow. It took nearly two hours to receive our food. I would have been okay with that if anyone had communicated that they were short staffed, apologized or tried to make anything right. But there was almost zero service. Drinks (water and a couple of soft drinks) took 30+ minutes to receive. They were never refilled and no one checked on us. We were repeatedly brought incorrect food and drinks, two meals were forgotten, and we were given the wrong bill three times. A group gratuity was added without allowing any adjustment. The waitress barely talked to us - she never apologized for the slowness of service and she never offered to make anything right. If anything, she was annoyed the entire time - especially when the bill was wrong and we asked for a correction. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place based on the service we received. read more

The Mermaid Queen was a great find --- especially in the Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale area. I'm from Denver and it is hard to fine solid Mexican food. MQ delivers. Their homemade corn chips & gauc alone are worth a visit. The menu has a lot of variety (but without going to crazy town). Our server was attentive and friendly + plus had several recommendations. If you are lucky enough they do have some outdoor seat, which I highly recommend since you are looking directly at the beach. read more

So I went to this restaurant as a recommendation from a client. Now, I usually steer clear of the restaurants that are on the Broadwalk, because they are hit or miss, but this restaurant was actually a good hit! I started off with the Miami Vice in a pineapple with chips and guacamole. The Miami Vice was frozen, which I usually don't veer to those type of drinks, but the server recommended it, and it was awesome. The chips were crisp and the guacamole was so tasteful. I had a chicken and cheese quesadilla that was also good. They had a sauce that I wasn't really the best of but the quesadilla was solid. Overall, it was a beautiful view of the beach with good food that I cannot complain about. The service was awesome as well. This place is best if you want to go solo, with your significant other. I do not recommend large groups of people and I'm not sure if you can bring your pets but it's really good food read more

Huge, delicious shrimp...and many. Wife had quesadillas. It also was excellent. Great flavors. The deserts..,ah, the deserts. Yes, to the deserts.
