Let's just say that my family and I will never go back here again! This food was so disgusting. We came for Cinco de Mayo this year, there was maybe 7-10 options for dinner on their tiny menu. None of which were appealing. The rice taste like Jambalaya out of a box, minus adding the meat. It was definitely not what I expected for Mexican rice. The beans were OK. The steak on my quesadilla was very fatty meat. The cheese dip was probably the best thing that this restaurant had to offer, however it was expensive as hell, $7 or $8. When our waitress asked us if we wanted a small or a large, she was like honestly the large is not much bigger, and especially for the price. Our bill was $57. Best Mexican Restaurant in Slidell, but it's Slidell, LA... This is a decent and convenient Mexican restaurant. My husband and I are both originally from San Antonio and Houston, TX so we are pretty tough critics on Mexican food in Louisiana. Even though I only gave it 3 stars, we have gone back about 3-4 times since their recent grand opening. Our first visit was during the opening weekend and it is was a mad house in so many ways. We walked into a smoke-filled building and had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table on their pleasant outdoor patio. The hostess at the time was very disorganized and confused. We decided that the food (Fajitas and Cheese Enchiladas) was pretty good and better Mexican food than the other places we had tried in Slidell. Fajitas were a bit pricey for one person, but tasted great. On our way out, I went to the bathroom and found a extremely stressed out waitress. She just unloaded all her frustrations on me and I felt really bad for her since she seemed so overwhelmed. From the stressed staff, smoky building, disorganization, and visibly unfinished renovations, it was obvious the restaurant rushed the opening. With that said, we have gone back to restaurant and noticed some improvements since our first visit: -cleanliness of the building has improved -patio is nicely light and has better ambiance (we almost always prefer to sit outside...the inside is bit too dark for my preference and there are SO many TVs) -the staff has been VERY attentive and helpful -conveniently located: We are able to walk from our house to the restaurant which is major plus for us. Since El Paso has a great patio we were allowed to take our two small dogs to dinner. We called ahead to asked if they allowed dogs on the patio and the manager said "as long as none of the other customers complained". For us this is HUGE bonus. The staff even brought out a big water dish for our two pups. -There are SO many discounts available: It seems that every day of the week, El Paso has a special deal for its customers. From buy-one-get-one-free entrees to 2 for 1 margaritas there so many discounts available. This is clearly the best option for Mexican food in Slidell, but the cooking could take a more few tips from few other established Mexican restaurants like Superior Grill (in New Orleans) or Lupe Tortilla (in Texas). read more

El Paso needs to step up their game! This was* our number 1 spot ever since Los Tres on Ponchartrain owners retired and closed own. El Paso has been our go-to for chips, salsa, margaritas, cheese dip etc. As of lately their salsa has not been great. Salsa tastes like half fresh/half tomato paste. You can taste the tomato paste. Whatever the change is the salsa is not fresh or any good for my* liking. El Paso should definitely step up their game especially since 2 Mexican restaurants opened on Pontchartrain we now have another Taco truck on Gause also Mexican restaurant Pedro's Taco and Tequila recently opened on Northshore Blvd. You have competition! read more

Lovely staff. Colorful, festive interiors. Outdoor playground for kids next to the patio. Large menu of standard Mexican foods typically found in America, all cooked to perfection. The Choriqueso dip (queso with chorizo) is one of my favorite bites in all of Slidell. Lots of happy hours, and occasional live music. read more

They have a great special on Monday's, combination plates are BOGO! However, the shrimp fajitas are the best thing on the menu and they're not BOGO. Desserts are always excellent, too. My wife and I do Mexican once a week and this is our go to spot. Portions are big, as well. Whenever we do the BOGO, we always have a to go box. This experience wasn't terrible but it was far from my best. Unfortunately their prices are mind of steep, especially for what you get. I had the fish tacos, that came with rice, beans, etc. Also there was a tortilla soup. And I drank a sweet tea. The tea was just so terribly sweet. They served black beans with the chips along with salsa, which was nice. Our server seemed very upset with us, no matter how friendly we tried to be. Another person in my party got the Shrimp Burrito, and loved it, but every body else said their meals were so so. The fish tacos were OK, but nothing to write home about. The soup was abysmal. Tasted like they just poured canned tomato sauce in a bowl and through some beans, corn, and tortillas in it. Relatively no flavor. Certainly not the best Mexican/Tex mex but it's the best available in Slidell. It blows all the other "Mexican" restaurants in the area out of the water. This is the best Mexican restaurant in town! Our waiter, Richard H. was excellent. The food arrived fast and hot. The chile relleno was delicious as were the enchiladas. The waiter was very much unable to keep up.with what he was doing he double charged an order of queso to 2 people's tickets after was clearly told to.put on the one check then when we corrected him he become upset went to manager who also seemed mad and came over to explain he was going to ring up again yet had already charged both cards the other price . We explained that one person couldn't pay for the meal twice and turned to a pregnant lady in a rude voice saying "are you ok you need coffee or water to sober up" clearly having a water with lemon in front of her. Then when asked his name he lied when his name was clearly on the ticket. He argued and was rude and refused to take responsibility for the mistake his waiter originally made. Tortilla soup was the worst. It tasted like salty tomato water with a little chili powder. They never brought my Mother in Law's meal and brought out the wrong order for my Daughter despite telling them three times what she wanted when I ordered it. On top of this amd I am not not familiar with smoking laws here, several other tables had at least one smoker. Yea it was outdoor seating but it is covered and they were kids AND there is a playset right next to the patio. Slidell location. First visit...service was horrible. My order was incorrect, and I had to wait for them to prepare the correct order, while my daughter ate. Waitress kept leaving and going into the back room and was never in sight when we needed something. Upon finishing our meal, we had to get another waitress to find her to get the bill. She came out and asked if we were ready for the bill....gave us the bill..and left again!!! (if I'm ready for the bill.....I'm ready to pay.) I had to go to the bar and ask to pay. Very upsetting. First couple times I went service was great, food was good but this time we sat at the bar and got chips and salsa, the salsa bowls were dirty, after that we sat for 15min and never was had a server come take our order. Not even get water, the girl that served us the chips walked by us several times but made no effort to send a server our way. When we went to walk out I told the hostess we would NOT be back and that we were never served she laughed. She laughed. The best Tex Mex in the New Orleans area! I always get the beef fajitas which are full of flavor! The rice and beans are also good. I love the chips, salsa, and bean dip that comes before every meal. The service is speedy and friendly. My only complaint is the tortillas - they are definitely store bought - not bad, but could be better I'd give them 5 stars if the tortillas were fresh! We went here the other night for our date night. It was really good! I had the #2 combo (quesadilla, chile relleno, refried beans, and rice). And my husband had some quesadillas (and some of mine because I couldn't even finish everything - lots of food) and a medium margarita (which was pretty large!) and everything was delicious! Poor customer service. Treats customers like the care less about their experience. Not only that but certain employees get poor treatment as well as if they aren't good enough to work there . They allow all the drama between workers to be seen by customers and no one wants that while enjoying a meal. They mess up orders constantly!! A frequent stop for me and my crew. The service and the food is always good, fresh and temp is right. Their menu has so many choices but you can't go wrong with anything on there. The food is always good although it may be a little bit higher priced than other places, it is absolutely worth it. The only negative that I would have would be that the alcohol mainly margaritas are too high in price... For example today I ordered a skinny girl small margarita that I did not see on the menu only to find out when the bill was presented that that 4 to 5 ounce drink was $10. I did speak with the manager who was on duty and asked if he would be willing to give me a break since I did not know that it was $10 and would not have ordered it if I would've known that it was $10... Everything was great!!! The food was really tasty especially considering the majority of combos we ordered were BOGO for the Monday special. Don't miss out on the table guacamole! The freshness cannot be beat. The one thing that ruined our experience (unfortunately from the start) was the attitude of the hostess. The restaurant was not busy and we preferred a booth, but when we asked for one we were met with eye rolling and an unacceptable attitude. Every other staff member treated us with respect. First visit was on a Saturday @5PM, seemed visibally understaffed for the size of the new restaurant, very slow service, had to ask about our order, took about 45 minutes after ordering. Ordered beef buritto, was served with carne on top. Buritto was very good by itself, carne topping was way over salted could not eat it at all. Mgr discounted the bill. Wife had cheese enchiladas which were very good. Place has promise but growing pains I guess. Will go back and try again... hope more next time. read more

Excellent service for lunch. Great that they have a lunch menu for the weekends. We had cheese quesadilla, beef tacos, chicken chimichunga and chicken enchiladas. All tasted great, only knock was food was slightly cold. Would definitely go again and recommend it to everyone. read more

Have been there three times, and have to say the food is just okay. Have been to the one in Laplace many times and there food is much better. Second time there had Taco Salad, once I cut the shell a good amount of water flowed out into my plate. Must not have drained the ground meat.
