So I'm giving them 3 stars for 2 reasons. 1- The food is really good! The chips and salsa were so delicious that I almost got full off of that. If I were to just rate the food alone I would have given them 5 stars. 2- The service sucks. I went in once and waited for 45 minutes after I ordered to get my food (thank goodness for those chips and salsa). This time around I weny in at 730 am and there hardly anyone there. Wanted a change from our routine breakfast after church at El Rodeo (which we always enjoy). We thought with so many cars this place was worth trying. We ordered the beef enchilada with egg breakfast. This was not bad, beans were good, sauce was good, not something I'd buy again. Husband got the Veracruzano enchiladas. Not good at all. Enchiladas were filled with scrambled eggs& the most terrible tasting chorizo we've ever had. (We love chorizo and eat it often) covered in their bean sauce. This was more like a burrito- very dry, no flavor except for the vineagary taste from the nasty chorizo. I had ordered an enchilada and rice to go for my daughter but the waitress neglected to put the order in. Waste of hard earned money. Won't go there again. Not sure why this place gets raves. Our first visit for dinner and we were very happy. The shredded beef in the taco salad my husband had was delicious! And generous! My Chili relleno was yummy - flavorful and stuffed(!) with good cheese. Like the table spacing - you can move in and out and the noise level is very good! You can converse without shouting! Went there and had the build your own plate. I had a Chile relleno, Mexican style steak taco, and a chicken tostada. All were passable but didn't have a lot of flavor. Basically the food, ESPECIALLY THE CHICKEN FAJITAS (I dare you to NOT have leftovers), is always good...consistently good. The downside is the crappy atmosphere- think Denny's. This is my second visit to El Patio. There are not a lot of restaurants in this area so it was worth a second visit more because of the lack of restaurants than the quality of food. However, the food is standard Mexican fare and is flavorful. The menu offers some unique choices. I would recommend this restaurant if you live here and don't want to drive far although there are many better choices. The three stars is for average food, average service and average pricing. This is our 'go-to' Mexican restaurant in Green Valley. Huge portions and usually top shelf service. Once they had a huge dinner party and the service was a bit slow, but this was only one time in the 12-15 time we have been there for dinner. Never had lunch there. Surprise #1- on Friday- Sunday they offer an Italian menu as well as Mexican. Surprise #2- they serve GREAT Italian dinners at Mexican food prices. Have eaten here several times. The food was OK , service has been good in the past. However , the last time I ate there ( think it was Feb. ) the service was Terrible. I only ordered tacos ! How hard can that be ? I waited about 20 min and finally asked the waitress if there was a problem in the kitchen. She said yes they were short of help. I had pork and green chilie. The food sucked. The beans have no flavor, the rice was not cooked, it was hard and last but not least chilie verde is pork meat in a jalapeno salsa and usually it is spicy depending on the jalapenos. This crap had zero flavor, it was cooked with zucchini and onion. I am from TEXAS and so far in all my years AZ Mexican food is terrible. This place was once called Florentinos which gave this Mexican Restaurant something that made it stand out from the half dozen or so other mexican restaurants in town . Today was the first and last time I will ever step foot into that place. 4 times I asked for no beans, and bam beans right. I asked can they please make me a new burrito, and they bring me back the same one with the beans scraped off the plate. Than I ask for a new burrito, and they bring me the same one with beans inside of it. I am here to warn you.......this place didn't even earn one star, but I don't see a lesser choice on here. My mom doesn't like Mexican food so she ordered a burger. It was missing the mayo and there was no offer of catsup for the fries. Didn't even see the waiter for 10 minutes and then I had to flag him down. Also, there was little sauce on my enchilada. I finally found the waiter and asked for more sauce, I was down to two bites left when the sauce arrived (and it was cold). We didn't get one drink refill and had the worst service EVER. When the check arrived I found he had charged me an extra buck for the enchilada sauce I didn't use. I complained to him and he argued with me about it, then said he didn't want to argue and left the extra charge on there. When I asked for the manager he said that he was the manager. I told him he really needs to work on his management skills. Do yourself a favor and X this off your list of places to eat in Green Valley........I did. We moved here in May and have been here several times. We have tried other Mexican restaurants in the area, but this one has the best service and quality food. First off, you enter with a mask. They immediately approach you with silverware, chips and salsa and choice of salsas. Everything is on a tray and they ask you to remove it and put it on the table. Drinks come same way. Plates are hot, so they are placed for you. This decreases the amount of people touching your stuff. We usually luck out and get the same server, Adriana. Super friendly, great memory on your preference of drinks and special requests. The pork chimichanga chili verde style is super delicious. The super nachos with ground beef are huge. We bring home leftovers every time. So full from lunch we skip dinner and have the leftovers the next day for dinner. We had a new server on the 21st. Her name is Georgine. She had the same up beat personality as Adriana. My husband commented that they must be sisters! read more

So the family was starving after a day of house hunting in the Green Valley area. Drove past this inauspicious restaurant in what looks to be a dying strip mall. Did not want to get into the "I don't know, what do you want" mode. So we stopped here. Outside pretty standard strip mall. But inside was a very simple nice medium large restaurant. Decently appointed. Service was friendly. Got seated and waited on right away - it was off peak. The biggie was that the food was excellent. My wife ordered guacamole and chips to help stave off any of us dying before we ordered and it was some of the best restaurant guac I've had. Lots of real avocado and left chunky not creamed like most restaurants. My daughter had a carne asada chimichanga and the meat quality was amazing. Fresh, tender and tasty. She asked for crisp and got crisp! My chili Verde burrito was excellent and my wife's 3 enchiladas were tasty except the spinach one was a little overpowering and sour. None of our starving family was able to finish our meals so portion size was good. We got out the door for 60 bucks for 3 of us with appetizer and sodas and tip. So reasonable price these days for a good amount of good food. If we do move here I'd stop here again. read more

My parents were raving about how good the food was and asked my husband and me to go to dinner. Friday night they have Italian food but my husband and I opted for Mexican, since it's a Mexican restaurant....that was a mistake. I got enchiladas which were cold and pretty flavorless. My husband got a combo plate and had the same complaint. I will say that the Chicken Parmesan my mom got was pretty good. The waitress came back once asked how everything was and didnt wait for a reply before walking off. We never got napkins and our drinks were never refilled. I get that it was busy but she never was around and all the other wait staff was helping their patrons. She walked by placed the check down and walked away. My dad wanted dessert so he had to call out to her for it. Lastly when she brought the dessert she didn't even attempt to clear the table. I just handed her the dirty dishes. This restaurant is located right next to the Missile Museum so we decided to try it. Service was superb from the moment we walked in the door - promptly greeted, plenty of salsa and chip refills, and plenty of tea refills. I had a Chile Relleno lunch plate, and it was excellent. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the salsa. Their hot salsa was, to me, totally mild. Their mild salsa tasted more like tomato sauce. I would work up a wonderful fresh HOT salsa if I were running the show, and I think I could move my review up to 5 stars if they had some more robust salsa on my next visit.
