Random last minute brunch and it was the highlight of the weekend. Decided I was craving a Caesar and happened to be downtown. Dropped by the gorgeous Emeline hotel and took a seat in the swanky Frannie and the Fox. The service? Exceptional! The food? Exceptional! We ordered the blue crab fritters, Caesar salad, and peach and ham pizza with the garlic and hot honey dips. Everything was a 10/10. The espresso martini was also a must order drink. Def check this place out, you won't be disappointed
Stopped in on a really hot day. I opted for the pepperoni pizza because it's supposed to be made in a brick fire oven. Taleggio was recommended to the party sitting next to us, but they had them add sausage, which I wish I had done, but I didn't know about it until my order was already put in. With that said, the pepperoni pizza was definitely a four out of five. The only thing that would have made it a five out of five was a little bit more moisture to the crust or some type of garlic butter to it. The flavor was really good on the pepperoni. The crust was nice and chewy as far as the underneath. 4/5 Before I tasted it, when the waitstaff, who wasn't our waiter, ended up bringing the pizza to us, they asked if we needed anything. We asked for a sauce. I asked them what sauces they had. They gave us a couple of options. I picked two sauces, but unbeknownst to me, those sauces were dips, and the dips were $3 each. The young lady did not tell us that, unfortunately. One of the sauces was a garlic sauce, and the other thing was the restaurant's rendition of ranch. Both were rather bland. I'd have to give them a 2 out of 5. They weren't nasty, but they lacked flavor. My wife ordered this shishuka, which would be the eggs, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. She gave it a four out of five. I tasted it. The eggs were bland to me. I would give it a three out of five based on the two forkfuls that I had, but the waitstaff was amazing. I definitely want to go back to try their brunch and to try that other pizza without the extra sauces.
This spot screams girls night! I sat outside at the courtyard on a Saturday night. I loved the variety of couches, dining tables and half bench tables. I started with the spring peas which was different than expected but in a good way! It was more of a salad than a burrata and bread dish. The chicken Milanese was fantastically crispy and the potatoes were a great to eat up the sauce. The margarita pizza was super thin but refreshing. Our server was attentive and made great cocktail suggestions.
The food was delicious! Our service was horrendous and two managers failed to address our concerns. In the middle of our meal and at the end. Did we want drinks? Yes! Did we order drinks immediately? Yes Did we get them? Yes, after our appetizer, entrees and sides, approx 25 minutes later. Did she blame the bar? Yes! Was it the bar's fault, no! Did she ever come back to our table to check on us? No. Why? She was too busy making friends with the large table of girls next to us. On multiple occasions, the worst service we have experienced in Charleston. Did we want more food? Yes! Did we want more drinks? Yes! Did we want dessert? Yes! Are we headed somewhere else right now to get the service that everyone deserves and the food and drinks we want? Absolutely! Do not recommend.
I recommend this place for the pizza! It was delicious. I was not a fan of the drinks and the appetizers tbh. The bruschetta was a little lacking in my opinion. I understand that they added their twist on it but it was a little too hard to bite into and messy. The pasta salad was okay. The pizza was amazing though! I would come back here for that. The ambiance was nice and convenient. The patio area was really cute. Our server was attentive and nice. I had a good experience overall.

My fave was French 75, the pepperoni pizza (to die for) and the pizzola salad (wow). Julia the bartender was so freaking awesome!!
Updating based on my last visit - terrible service this time. Compared to the absolutely phenomenal service we had last time (where our waiter took time talking to us about the food and where everything came from, telling us about himself, interacting with our son. etc.) the waiter we had this time completely ruined our experience here. Not only did it just feel like he was trying to pass us through, he was spending more time at the bar with his buddies than making sure his tables were covered (we sat without forks) and he just seemed annoyed to be there. Last visit, our waiter made recommendations and asked if he could put spicy sauces on the side because he saw we had a young child that might be sensitive to the spice: this time the new waiter just brought our food out, no notes. Near the end of our meal we heard him chatting with the table next to us quite a bit and wondered why he treated our table so differently. Overall just a soured experience and we will probably try other places in the future despite enjoying the food here.
Boy, it sure was hot by the standards of this Minnesota guy visiting South Carolina when we stopped at Frannie & The Fox for lunch during our anniversary trip to Charleston. Just finding the restaurant turned out to be our first challenge. It's tucked away inside Hotel Emeline, and although our GPS brought us right to the hotel entrance, there was nothing to indicate that a restaurant was inside. Thankfully, the gentleman at the door noticed us looking a bit lost, asked if he could help, and pointed us in the right direction. When we arrived for lunch, there weren't many people there, but the restaurant became noticeably busier as we dined. Our server appeared to be handling both bartending and waitressing duties. As the restaurant got busier toward the end of our meal, her attention became more sparse, and getting the check and paying took longer than we would have liked. We shared a wood-fired pepperoni pizza and a chopped salad, and both were very good. The pizza had excellent flavor, and the chopped salad was equally enjoyable. I also enjoyed a Pardon My French cocktail, which rounded out my meal nicely. We enjoyed the atmosphere and thought it was a fun place to dine. The food was good, and we enjoyed ourselves. That said, nothing about the experience really stood out as especially memorable or gave us a compelling reason to return. It certainly wasn't a negative experience. In fact, it was quite good, but in a city filled with outstanding dining options, this just wasn't one that rose to the top of our list.
My husband and I recently dined at Franny and the Fox, and the experience was outstanding from the moment we walked in. The ambience immediately stood out. Warm, stylish, and lively without feeling crowded. It set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Our waitress was delightful. Attentive, professional, and genuinely pleasant. She made thoughtful recommendations and checked in at the right times without hovering. The food matched the service. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish we had was satisfying and well executed. If you're looking for a place in Charleston that delivers great service, great food, and a memorable atmosphere, this is it. We will definitely return.
Tried it again after a very poor experience that was preceded by excellent dinners. I will start with the lukewarm water served in a carafe on a 90 degree plus day; and the water had the foulest taste we've experienced in water. We ordered bottled water which we haven't had to do ever dining out. The server recommended a salad that was just awful, bland, plain, tasteless, underwhelming. And very small for the price. The pizza we ordered was markedly smaller than before and the crust was different and looked like it was premade and frozen. It had the taste and look of DiGiorno pizza. Previously, the pizza was a standout but now Indaco and La Tela in Kiawah are making much better pizza pies. The service was friendly and they prepared a specialty cocktail that I like which was outstanding. To the team there, you have been going downhill for several years. Turn it around!
What a lovely treat. Quality service. Bartenders and servers who know how to welcome guests and make them feel special. Brunch with my two kids was lovely. More lovely was our blondie server (Clemson gal) who radiated positivity and gave 5 star service. The sweetest. My kids loved the pancakes and bacon. Amazing start to our trip!
We popped in for a drink - shout out to being open on Christmas!! - and were pleasantly surprised by how cute the place was. It's a hotel bar, though open to the public. They had the cutest little yurts set up on the patio, and I NEED to check them out next year!! The fire was burning on the patio and it was very comfortable to sit outside. The inside is also cute, and was open air connecting to the patio. We just ordered drinks, a spaghett and a beer, during a slow period for them. Bartender was very nice and helpful, giving us a heads up of where would be reserved for dinner service, etc. Very cute spot!
Frannie & The Fox is a great spot for dinner or just grabbing a few drinks. The restaurant is pretty big with lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor patio is really nice if the weather is good. I came here for happy hour with a couple of friends. I had the house white wine and the arancini small bite. The wine was a Chardonnay and I liked it. The arancini was pretty good but could have been a little more flavorful. The restaurant is wonderfully decorated and service was friendly and quick.
My husband said this was one of the best wood fired pizzas he has had in Charleston! We had the pepperoni and the margarita (served with a pesto swirl/ omg!) The meatballs were excellent, tender and served with ricotta which is officially my new favorite way to have them. Also had a huge chunk of bread. Can't ask for anything better. Also enjoyed the Caesar salad. The house croutons were an amazing component. Our server was really personable and gave recommendations after asking (she said the meatballs were her fav in Charleston and she might be right). We also arrived 45 min before our reservation and were seated for brunch immediately! Can't wait to visit again read more

We went to Frannie and the Fox last night for a girls dinner. The food was phenomenal and the portions were just enough. We had the market catch which was a meaty piece of sword fish and the squid ink spaghetti with shrimp alongside a bottle of Italian prosecco. We ate outside in the courtyard and it was a perfect summer night. I do wish they had more fans/cooling devices because it was sweaty before the sun went down. Overall, great place for a vibey dinner. read more

Really loved Frannie & the Fox! Went with a friend and first the restaurant is soooo cute! And the outdoor area is amazing especially with good weather! We order a couple drinks, the Taleggio pizza and a caesar salad. All really great and would definitely get again. Excited to go back and try more of the menu! read more

Good night at Frankie and the Fox. Would have preferred the patio but hostess said it was all booked. Tyler was an amazing waiter-- I likely would have given less stars if he hadn't been amazing. Caesar salad was good and big. Glasses of red were below average and I do like my red wine. It's super cheap to offer a decent glass of red wine. Up your game. Food. Husband had the rigatoni and I had the pasta with mushrooms in the skillet. Good. Not great for both. We both said Indaco had better food and atmosphere. Liked it didn't love it. Don't need to return! read more

We loved this place so much that we ate here twice during our trip to Charleston! The first night we ate here because it was a stone's throw from our planned ghost trip. We made reservations so we were immediately seated. We placed our order for meatball appetizer, caesar salad, and the white pizza (sorry, forget the name!) and added pepperoni. 5 stars across the board! However, I will say, on our next visit, I ordered the Pizzaiolo chopped salad and topped it on our pizza and THAT IS THE MOVE. The pizza is the perfect salad vessel and the only way to eat it. Service was lovely on both nights and I highly recommend for your next CHS visit! read more

When I was researching restaurants to visit for my upcoming Girl's Trip, Frannie and the Fox was one of the most frequently mentioned places. The decor of the restaurant gave high-end vibes but not "posh." So I didn't feel like I was eating outside of my tax bracket if you catch my drift. The service was wonderful and the waitress was kind enough to offer us a variety of recommendations. We ended up eating "family style" so we all ordered something different and then shared a bit of everything. We ordered the Beef and Pork Meatballs, the Whipped Bone Marrow, the Rigatoni, the Squid Ink Spaghetoni, and the Margarita Pizza (not pictured). I would say my favorite dish of the night was the Squid Ink Spaghetoni and I think it definitely deserves some more hype. If you're looking for a classy and intimate atmosphere, then this is the place for you! read more
Decent food and a good escape from the heat. I came for lunch and had the margherita pizza and that day's pastry basket. The pizza was a solid wood fired pizza, although it had pesto on it which wasn't mentioned and was a little strange for a margherita. The pastry basket had 4 different things, and while two of them were quite good, one was just okay and the muffin was pretty underwhelming. Overall, decent food for a quick stop, but I wouldn't necessarily seek it out read more

Jimmy is genuinely just awesome, made my girlfriend's birthday dinner so much more memorable, even made a guy like me try a pink bar drink I'd never normally try and I loved it. This BLT sandwich was a wonderful choice for a quick meal before our reservation outing. They were able to get this dish ordered and presented extremely quickly to meet our needs. The BLT was a hearty sandwich and paired with the pasta side dish made for an enjoyable and flavorful lunch. read more

Perfect spot for a date night or to go out with friends this place is moody and charming to say the least. Service was pretty good and the food came out unbelievably quick. We ordered the rigatoni, pepperoni pizza, and the beef & pork meatballs. The pizza was definitely my favorite the crust was so lovely and it made amazing leftovers for the next day The rigatoni was very flavorful and a crowd pleaser The beef and pork meatballs were seasoned very nicely and the sauce became a part of every course pizza crust was dipped in it extra bread obviously had to take part of the sauce too Overall I don't think you could order anything bad at Frannie & The Fox Only thing is that you might have trouble finding this place it's located in a hotel lobby you have to walk up some steps towards the check in of the hotel and it'll be to the right read more
We were staying at the Emeline, so we stopped in here for brunch (I saw on here that there aren't a lot of GF alternatives for dinner). Our service was incredible, and they were able to swap out my toast with GF bread, so I still had plenty of options. We had a nice time! read more

Located inside Hotel Emeline, Frannie & the Fox was a perfect location for a girls dinner to celebrate during my friend's bachelorette party. We did make the reservation well in advance as this restaurant is very popular. We chose to have a coursed/set menu. The ambiance and moody vibe of the restaurant draws a fairly young crowd to the bar on the weekends, but the food and wine was excellent and we enjoyed our meal. The best bites of the night were the meatballs with ricotta topping and the fresh mozzarella plate with fresh giardinieria. Check out Frannie & the Fox the next time you're looking for a stylish, lively, and yummy night out! read more
I stayed at this hotel previously but had never eaten at the restaurant. We finally made it for brunch on our last trip to Charleston, and I'm so glad that we did. First of all, what A CUTE PLACE! I absolutely love the decor and vibes here - everything is clean and sharp, and the colors are deep and classy. Seating is available indoors or out, weather dependent. We sat on the patio and it was beautiful weather. Our server was perfect, table touches were on point, didn't write a thing down but got our orders perfectly for a four top. We had drinks and entrees and everything was excellent. My campari spritz was amazing and my dad had a really good bloody mary. The food was excellent -- the traditional breakfast plate was HUGE and perfectly cooked. I loved the sausage and potatoes and man, that sourdough bread was *chefs kiss*. The eggs benny was phenomenal - picture doesn't do it justice! My husband was raving about it all day. 5 stars - can't wait to come back! read more
I've eaten at Frannie & The Fox two times now and both were fine. Service is good and the ambiance at the restaurant is great. It was a bit chilly since the restaurant is kept open-aired and I got a couple of mosquito bites while sitting. Our server was nice and food came out at a reasonable time. We've ordered the meatballs, whipped bone marrow, charred octopus, blue crab fritters, caesar salad, taleggio pizza, and spaghettoni. - Meatballs were good, tender, but nothing too special. - We felt the octopus was charred too much and it had an unpleasant flavor. - Whipped bone marrow was actually a crowd favorite. Nice, crusty bread with a whipped savory butter and sweet/sour tomato onion jam. Delicious! - Blue crab fritters are always good - crunchy and paired with a yummy sauce. - Caesar salad was good, classic, with a hint of welcome spice. The croutons are delish! - The taleggio pizza is my friend's favorite. Crispy crust, savory cheese, and sweet and spicy honey. It hits all the right spots, but does get a little grainy when cooled. - The spaghettoni was a letdown for us. The noodles seemed to be just a bit under al dente and there was no outstanding flavor. It was a bit bland and we didn't end up finishing it. I definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you can since the lines can get long. Food is decent and vibes are great. Not our favorite restaurant, but we'd go again. read more

The ambiance and staff was very pleasant. You could view the courtyard of the hotel from the inside of the restaurant. You could even ask to be seated outside in the courtyard which has a beautiful brick fireplace. The food on the other hand was very lack luster. I was disappointed that the salad was just lettuce, thankfully I added chicken. But unfortunately it wasn't worth the price! Corey got the chicken cutlet sandwich but couldn't understand the purpose of a cold fired chicken sandwich. It was good and the broccoli rabe was a really nice touch to the sandwich. However he really wanted to try the meatballs but we were told they were unavailable. That didn't seem to be the case since people who came in after us was ordering and receiving the meatballs. They have an extreme limited gluten free menu. So if you are gluten free don't waste your time or money. Like I said earlier, the food was okay but definitely not worth the price of the overall meal! read more
Frannie and the Fox was such a great breakfast spot, located inside the stylish Hotel Emeline. The whole place has such a cool vibe. We sat inside, but the dining area is all glass, so we had a nice view of the charming patio. Our waiter let us know we could start ordering cocktails after 10 a.m. (South Carolina rules), so we took our time looking over the menu. There were a variety of options, but I went with the Clock In Breakfast--your classic two eggs, sourdough toast, bacon, and hash browns. The hash browns were the star of the show - crispy and delicious. Once 10 hit, we ordered mimosas and hung out, enjoying the good vibes.
