I ignored the negative reviews as just bitchy people, but they are incredibly accurate to our experience. 70 screens on all playing same VH-1 playlist. Very weak drinks, no chicken at 6:30. "What days do you make the chicken?"... " oh every day", heavy air of Fabuloso cleaner, difficult to order, and several problems with billing. She corrected my bill after I paid and then ran out the door after me YELLING that it was still wrong. The second check she had was another table. Credit card statement had a completely different amount than any of the other three totals. ( cheaper) That's four different amounts and two scoldings to me for their own errors. PS will bill you menu $ + tax amount for drinks then add more tax to that amount on top but then apply a whole different amount to your charge. I am dizzy now. Have fun! read more

Our group just had lunch here and had amazing, authentic Mexican food. We had the BBQ chicken tacos and it was excellent. One of the guys had the BBQ chicken and ribs which he scarfed down barely coming up to talk. We would highly recommend this restaurant for great Mexican food! read more

Found this gem on our anniversary & couldnt be more satisfied! You wouldnt think by the looks of the outside that their food would tast so amazing..but we were wrong! Everything is fresh & has so much flavor! My son is 15 months & obsessed with the soup...needless to say I had to come back to order 2 large tubs of soup to take home for him! Their customer service is bad, really bad, the 'boss' seems so thirsty for money that couldn't stop pressuring us to make us pay for a table where we were eating. Me and some friends came to eat around 8ish on a Saturday night, we're not from the area but Peruvian and Mexican food sounded like a good mix, we were eating and they turned all the lights off because they were gonna start the club, they didn't tell us anything, we didn't mind either, we grab some drinks when they started making a big deal about us having to leave because we would have to pay for the table, we were like why if we didn't come for the club, well we paid 10$ that was supposedly the cover charge, after 30 minutes they came back saying that we needed to leave again, we were like why? We're just sitting grabbing some drinks, we've already paid? They kept pushing us trying to make us pay 100+ $ on top of whatever we already consumed. Expensive place, I can't seem to select that when reviewing anymore. The place has a dance floor, and it looks like they probably have some lively dance nights. For lunch though, the big dance floor with booths going around it feels kinda awkward, but the main thing is that their menu is really expensive. Some items $20. There are no stars here, 4 of us had dinner here last, reading the reviews we decided to try this place, 2 of us in the group are born in Peru. I can only say this, in my life I have never seen a bigger disaster in a business (especially restaurants) as this place. THere is just nothing to say, from the service to the food (of which they were out of several items (on a Saturday Night). How they arrived at the prices they charge I don't know, but charging $10 for a Pisco sour (served in a 5 oz glass of which half was filled with foam) This place is better off closed, or serving only Mexican food, but even that (one person in our group ordered a quesadilla) which took 31 minutes to be delivered, after the rest of us had already gotten our dinners. The quesadilla was not edible, the cheese was not even melted. Bottom line, save you money, if you want peruvian food, this is NOT THE PLACE! read more

These four & five star reviews must be family and friends. We enjoy Peruvian food at least twice a month, El Pique has no chance of even being comparable. Portions were smaller, prices higher, service very sub par. Stale chips, over salted meat, didn't receive my salad, ordered one chicha morada she brought out two. The chicha morada was overly spiced we didn't finish them. All these disappointments and we were charged $32.00. I cant recommend this place at all, nothing about it was good, I take it back, the hot sauce was awesome, I didn't come for hot sauce. We went there for lunch on Sunday and I was very pleased with everything. Food was as traditional as I have tasted in Lima. We had Ceviche(white fish cooked by lime juice with red onions, cilantro) empanadas ( deep-fried cheese turnover) and Jalea ( mixed fried seafood covered with marinated red onions). As our main course we had Pollo asado (rotisserie chicken) papas Huancaina, Chupe de camarones soup made with shrimp, fish, potato and egg, top with a little cream and last but not least Arroz con mariscos. Seafood rice similar to a Paella very flavorful and light and to finish the Arroz con leche was perfect! Everything we tried was outstanding! The service was, prompt and very polite. I highly recommend this restaurant. Note: careful with their hot sauce is "HOT" It is a simple place without much flair but the food is great! read more

I stopped in with my boyfriend for lunch. We were served Peruvian Aguadito before our entrees came. The soup was incredible. I ordered the chicken salad and potato stack. I can't remember what it was called but our server recommended it when I said I liked tangy foods and I am so happy she did. I never would have known to order it myself but it was really delicious and I'm glad I asked for the recommendation. My boyfriend got the beef stew with cilantro sauce and he loved it. I really loved the red onions that came on his plate. The two hot sauces we got were fresh tasting and spicy, very nice compliments to the meal. Our service was excellent and we really enjoyed or meal. We will be coming back next time we are in the area. I recommend you give this place a try. We were the only people people in the restaurant besides the family of the owners on a Thursday night. Too bad, because this was really good food. All 4 of us tried a different peruvian dish and all of us were happy with what we got. My pork was really tasty and cooked to falling apart like it should be. We had a beef heart appetizer that was really good as well. The place has a huge dance floor and speakers all over the place. Not sure if it is for a DJ or live bands but hopefully they can make their money on the weekends so it can stay open to cook good food. read more

The service here is a bit slow but totally worth the wait! The food is pretty awesome. The server was really educational about traditional Peruvian food and made some really great suggestions for starting out. I had a fish dish and my boyfriend had a pasta dish. My husband and I brought our daughter with us for a late breakfast, and it was our first time eating here. We both ordered the Asada Taco plate and kid had pancakes with bacon. Our tacos looked great but the meat was not tender, very chewy and overly salted. The beans and rice both had the same flavor-salt on salt. Between all 3 items that was the only flavor. My daughter was served fluffy pancakes without syrup. After the 1 waitress present brought our food, she took her time at another table chatting and playing around. We tried to get her attention for syrup and she ignored us. It was over 5 minutes before syrup came and it was cold like out of a fridge and by that time so were the pancakes. My daughter ordered what was advertised as Fresh Mango Juice for$4.95 but it was from a carton. The waitress ignored us the rest of the time we were there. We ate and left, and won't be back. It was just a underwhelming experience after seeing so many positive reviews on Facebook and Yelp. read more

We're not experts at Perunivan food, nor did we expect it when we stopped here - we were ready for Mexican! But we tried all Peruvian dishes and fell in love with the spicy flavors and variety. I did have the freshest hand-crafted margarita ever - defintely worth the stop! Having travelled the globe, but not yet to Peru, this works for us. This review is based on a Sunday lunch visit. Reading other yelp reviews we expected this place to be a tiny hole in the wall. Turns out it is pretty big, with a cavernous nightclub-like space as the main dining area, with a giant tv screen on one wall and a stage area with karaoke gear opposite. There is a bar along the kitchen side with seating. service was great, we were greeted within a minute or two and seated at a window table. The main part of the menu is Peruvian with a back page of Mexican standards. I ordered a fish ceviche and my date had the chile rellenos. Both were great tasting, the ceviche Fresh and drenched in lime/lemon and the rellenos smoky and rich. We had some kind of fried corn kernel appetizer that was a nice salty, crunchy treat. Prices seemed a bit high given the bar ambience. A Negro Modelo beer was $5, also a bit much given the space. There are lots of dishes to explore, so well be back. This was our first time here and we'll be back! We were originally looking for a Mexican restaurant and I'd driven by El Pique many times and always wanted to stop in and try their food. We didn't know they specialized in Peruvian food. The waitress was beyond great, she asked what we like and then guided us through the menu. Two of us got the marinated roast chicken. It fell off the bone and was very moist and succulent. One of us got the Peruvian chicken fried rice dish. That was the best dish of all! Last, but not least, was the fried seafood platter. I've never seen such a variety of seafood on one plate before! There were shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels and a whole fish fillet! The flavor pallet is very mild with spice combinations I've not experienced before. I'd recommend El Pique to anyone looking for something different! read more

I tried El Pique for the first time today and was quite pleased. I had the Lomo Saltado (with beef) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I never had Peruvian spices before, but they were flavorful, but not "hot" spicy. I am not that wild about tomatoes, but the seasoning actually allowed me to enjoy them! The waitress was cheerful and quite helpful. She seemed to be new at the job, so was a little slow, but that's to be expected and her friendliness more than made up for it. We stopped here almost accidentally. We were just looking for a place to get a couple drinks and a bite to eat within walking distance, and stumbled across authentic Peruvian cuisine. This place is a real gem, disguised as a nightclub in a strip mall. It was almost empty when we were there, on a Saturday evening at 6pm. I imagine business picks up later with people dancing and drinking, but from outside it doesn't look like a good place to eat a nice meal. Typically we expect nightclubs to serve junk like frozen chicken strips and french fries, so I guess that's why there weren't very many people there at dinnertime.
