As a Peruvian myself I highly recommend this restaurant! I went here with my family and we all loved the food, and it's usually kind of hard to please my family lol. The staff were very nice and made sure to check in every now and then. Also the wall art they have is amazing! Will definitely revisit! read more

The food is good. I was hoping to try their whole rotisserie chicken, but I made the mistake of coming too close to closing to order it so I had it as takeout the following night. Dining in with my friends (a mom, dad and kid my daughters age) and daughter, we enjoyed the vibes- cute paintings on the walls, colorful for kids, and room to be themselves on a weeknight. The service? I think this place may cater more to takeout orders or Spanish-speaking peoples but we enjoyed dining in because it felt like home. I much preferred the fried chicken and lomo saltado to rotisserie. And agua fresca was great read more

Unprofessional and no integrity. I ordered an hour ahead of time for my husband to pick up 2 whole chicken combos and 2 ceviches. The restaurant called to confirm with me. When he got to the restaurant he was greeted with puzzled looks. They acted confused, so I called. The lady who answered told me to give them 10 more minutes, I said no worries. 40 minutes later, still no food. I call again, they tell me 10 more minutes. Now I feel like I'm being played with and I'm 100% upset. I should have ordered from San Fernando Pollos a las brasas. I regret ordering from here. I will NEVER order from this restaurant again. Update- they did not give us the (2) 2liters of Inca cola. The lady keep telling me to take it up with a third party, she is not responsible, and to do whatever but she was not going to give me what I paid for. The photos I took is from their website. Worst experience I have ever had. read more

First time trying Peruvian food. Restaurant was clean and basic. Server was very polite and made good recommendations. We ordered what she recommended and enjoyed it. Both seafood dishes were tasty but I found the octopus tough. We plan to come back and try the traditional roasted chicken. read more

Delicious, consistent, and friendly service. After moving to the PNW, I was missing a good Peruvian restaurant like I was used to back east. This place really delivers with the flavors that I fell in love with in the first place. The rotisserie chicken, the pollo saltado, the arroz con mariscos, the jalea mixta...all of them were right on point for me! read more

Stopped here on our way to Whidbey Island. It's a cute place in a strip mall right off the main triad to the ferry. I was craving roast chicken and salad. Ordered the whole chicken meal which comes with fries and salad and a bevy of sauces. The chicken was delicious and juice. The white meat was so tender and tasty. The hot sauce was excellent. Service was friendly and the restroom was clean. My only complaint was that the fries were not crispy. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area. read more

A delicious meal for one. :) 1/4 roasted chicken, french fries, salad - I want to try this with fried rice next time. I also got Papa a la Huacaína (boiled potatoes with a cheese sauce) which seems to be a comfort Peruvian appetizer. It wasn't my favorite, but still delicious - served with a half boiled egg & olive. Perfectly roasted flavorful chicken... Excited to try their other dishes and explore Peruvian food! read more

Before trying this place my wife and I had never tried Peruvian food. Let me tell you, this place is great! Their lomo saltado and the sauce it comes with is delicious! Their chicken is also very good. Everything we have tried from here is great. Couldn't recommend it more! read more

Ordered jalea, lomo saltado, and half roasted chicken. All the restaurants in this plaza feel very authentic, like these people just moved here 2 weeks ago and set up shop. It's fantastic. Jalea was an unexciting dish, but the sauce was decent. Chicken was good too but once again unexciting. The lomo saltado I can absolutely recommend, not for the beef but for the rice. They boil the rice with garlic oil and I couldn't put it down. As one of the only 10 Chinese people in the world that doesn't like rice, this rice I love. read more

If you're craving Peruvian food, this is the best place in the area - the Ceviche is absolute perfection (make sure you get it without the spice - the picante is pretty spicy) and their roasted chicken is tender and deliciously marinated. We also got the chicken fried rice. 10/10 recommend! read more

We ordered a rotisserie chicken with salad and fries plus the fried rice entree for dinner. We showed up to pick up the food and had to wait about 10 mins...which was a little better than Fernando's. The rotisserie chicken was very good. It was cooked perfectly. The spicy sauce that came with the chicken made a spicy and delicious dipping sauce. The sides were good but not great. The rice reminds you of chicken fried rice but with cinnamon. Good flavor. The fries were a little bland and we had to reheat them in our ninja foodie to crisp them up. Overall a good option for a different take out dinner. read more

My family and I visited this place for dinner yesterday. It was our first time trying Peruvian cuisine. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by the owners, Tomas & Yashira. They were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is very vibrant, spacious, and clean. We love the murals on the walls. It gives you a little glimpse of what Peruvian culture is like. We ordered Lomo Saltado, Monstrito, and Bistek A Lo Pobre. They were DELICOUS and inexpensive! If you're ever in the Lynnwood/Mukilteo area, this place is a must-try! read more

Phenomenal food! Third time here! Loved the Pollo Saltado and Pescado Frito Con Pallares. Both of these dishes go well together. The fish is amazing that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Great flavor! I don't usually order seafood at other restaurants, but this is something I'll always order when coming here. Pollo Saltado is amazing as well. The chicken wasn't super tender, but the flavor overall is what made up for it. The spicy sauce that I drizzled over it is what brings it to the next level. Definitely will be coming back for more. read more

Ordered trio Marino, seafood fried rice, and lomo spaghetti combo. My daughter went crazy on the octopus in the fried rice. Pretty sure she ate an entire octopus by herself tonight. The cheese spaghetti was fantastic, very nostalgic taste to it. I called here last time and thought the food was pretty good but this time it was even better. Updating to 5 stars read more

So my daughter and I hadn't really thought out what to do for dinner and at the last second I thought... What about that new Peruvian place in the Safeway parking lot... Really great decision! First of all it's clearly a family run joint... The daughter was so sweet, and actually painted all of the murals along the walls! What an artist! We opted to get a couple of the specialties rather than the chicken that they are famous for... because we are pretty sure the chicken is gonna be good...We got the Aeropuerto, which was delicious! It's fried rice with vermicelli noodles maybe? There are green onions and bell peppers, chunks of chicken and a really delicious flavor that I can't put my finger on. We also ordered the bistek a lo pobre... perfectly cooked piece of carne asada, a couple fried plantains, rice with a fried egg, and the crunchy French fries that accompany most dishes here. It was served with a side of this creamy spicy sauce... next time I think I'll order an extra egg... I chopped the egg up onto the rice... Pulled the meat into chunks mixed it all up... Delicious! Oh and the drinks! Made fresh in house... these are not made from a powder mix... not overly sweetened koolaid stuff. These are actual juices and drinks made fresh in house. We ordered three. #1 The chicha morada, the purple corn juice... sounds weird. The Mom in charge actually brought out the actual purple corn she uses, oh and she mixes the whole thing with pineapple juice... it's weird but so awesome! #2 refresco de maracuya, it's passion fruit and delicious. Enough said. #3!!! The SPECIAL She had to check to see if her mom was making it today... it's like... a creamy carrot juice. So yummy, and frothy, and naturally sweet from carrots and a tiny bit of honey. Also weird... but I freaking loved it. Anyhow... this place deserves some support, they just opened a few days ago. I love all the colors, and the vibe is family. Yandira is the lovely daughter taking care of the front end, and Yacira is the heart of it, the Mom in the kitchen with all the authentic recipes. Oh and don't forget to selfie with the LLAMAS!!!! read more

My wife (who is Peruvian) and I have been in the hunt for an authentic Peruvian restaurant ever since we got married earlier this year. We've tried the three other Peruvian restaurants around the Seattle area, and after eating at El Rey tonight, we have finally found the real deal. My wife approves! We ordered the Papa A La Ocopa appetizer to start with, which was boiled potatoes in a green sauce with a hint of dill. My wife said they tasted very authentic. We also ordered Chicha Morada (a traditional Peruvian drink made with purple corn juice) and Refresco de Maracuya Special (Drink made with papaya juice), and both were very fresh and delicious. Every other Peruvian restaurant we tried made Chicha Morada with a mix, but my wife said it is obviously made fresh here. I ordered the Monstrito Special, which was a quarter chicken, fried rice, and french fries. The chicken was nicely seasoned, and very tender. The fried rice was my favorite part of the whole meal. It had a spice in it that I couldn't put my finger on, but it was so good that I couldn't stop shoveling it in my mouth once I tasted it. The fries were nicely salted, and ketchup was available for my American palate, although I understand from my wife that they are meant to be mixed and eaten with everything on the plate (with a fork) in traditional Peruvian dining. My wife had the Mondonguito Italiano, which was tripe cooked with carrot, french fries, rice, and beans, and she said it was authentic, just like home in Peru. She gave me a bite, and I wasn't a fan, but only because I'm not a fan of the texture of tripe. Next time, I'm going to try either the Chaufa de Pollo (Peruvian Fried Rice in a Chinese style), Lomo Saltado (Steak with french fries, onions, tomatoes), or Aeropuerto (a variation on the fried rice with noodles). The service was excellent and attentive. The chef came out to the table to welcome us and ask if we had any questions. It's obviously a family affair, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. Do yourself a favor and support a small business that is making delicious food. read more

I'm so happy to have this restaurant open close to where I live! I was in today for lunch with a special friend and ordered their Grill Beef and 1/2 chicken entree also some ceviche and extra sweet plantains. It was super good! Everything was seasoned and cook to perfection. I will definitely be back. It is a family restaurant. Literally cooked and serve by family members so don't expect service without prompting them. Non the less, I love their food so that wouldn't stop me from returning. Go try for yourself and help this family stay viable. The food would not disappoint!! read more

I spent a month in Peru dining at some of the best restaurants in the country north to south. El Rey is Authentic Peruvian family owned. I've been hunting for washington for years for good Peruvian food, and am ready to declare a winner. El Rey is without a doubt the best Peruvian food in Washington. Lomo Saltado is extra juicy with that classic Lomo Saltado flavor, perfect fries and thick flavorful tomatos. The roasted chicken and the fried rice are so delicious. I love the ambient and hand paintings on the wall. They made me feel I am in Peru.

El Rey did not disappoint. It was clean and all the staff wore masks. We tried the roasted chicken. It was flavorful, moist and delicious. The house made sauce was spicy and flavorful. We also tried the Bistek A Lo Pabre. It was good. The fried plantains were awesome, I wish I could have gotten them with my chicken. ;) Both dishes came with a lot of food.
