When he got to the restaurant he was greeted with puzzled looks. They acted confused, so I called. The lady who answered told me to give them 10 more minutes, I said no worries. 40 minutes later, still no food. I call again, they tell me 10 more minutes. Now I feel like I'm being played with and I'm 100% upset. I should have ordered from San Fernando Pollos a las brasas. I regret ordering from here. I will NEVER order from this restaurant again. Update- they did not give us the (2) 2liters of Inca cola. Stopped here on our way to Whidbey Island. It's a cute place in a strip mall right off the main triad to the ferry. I was craving roast chicken and salad. Ordered the whole chicken meal which comes with fries and salad and a bevy of sauces. The chicken was delicious and juice. The white meat was so tender and tasty. The hot sauce was excellent. Phenomenal food! Third time here! Loved the Pollo Saltado and Pescado Frito Con Pallares. Both of these dishes go well together. So my daughter and I hadn't really thought out what to do for dinner and at the last second I thought... What about that new Peruvian place in the Safeway parking lot... Really great decision! First of all it's clearly a family run joint... The daughter was so sweet, and actually painted all of the murals along the walls! What an artist! We opted to get a couple of the specialties rather than the chicken that they are famous for... because we are pretty sure the chicken is gonna be good...We got the Aeropuerto, which was delicious! It's fried rice with vermicelli noodles maybe? There are green onions and bell peppers, chunks of chicken and a really delicious flavor that I can't put my finger on. We also ordered the bistek a lo pobre... perfectly cooked piece of carne asada, a couple fried plantains, rice with a fried egg, and the crunchy French fries that accompany most dishes here. It was served with a side of this creamy spicy sauce... next time I think I'll order an extra egg... I chopped the egg up onto the rice... Pulled the meat into chunks mixed it all up... Delicious! Oh and the drinks! Made fresh in house... these are not made from a powder mix... not overly sweetened koolaid stuff. These are actual juices and drinks made fresh in house. We ordered three. #1 The chicha morada, the purple corn juice... sounds weird. The Mom in charge actually brought out the actual purple corn she uses, oh and she mixes the whole thing with pineapple juice... it's weird but so awesome! #2 refresco de maracuya, it's passion fruit and delicious. Enough said. #3!!! The SPECIAL She had to check to see if her mom was making it today... it's like... a creamy carrot juice. So yummy, and frothy, and naturally sweet from carrots and a tiny bit of honey. Also weird... but I freaking loved it. Anyhow... this place deserves some support, they just opened a few days ago. My wife (who is Peruvian) and I have been in the hunt for an authentic Peruvian restaurant ever since we got married earlier this year. We've tried the three other Peruvian restaurants around the Seattle area, and after eating at El Rey tonight, we have finally found the real deal. My wife approves! We ordered the Papa A La Ocopa appetizer to start with, which was boiled potatoes in a green sauce with a hint of dill. My wife said they tasted very authentic. We also ordered Chicha Morada (a traditional Peruvian drink made with purple corn juice) and Refresco de Maracuya Special (Drink made with papaya juice), and both were very fresh and delicious. Every other Peruvian restaurant we tried made Chicha Morada with a mix, but my wife said it is obviously made fresh here. I ordered the Monstrito Special, which was a quarter chicken, fried rice, and french fries. The chicken was nicely seasoned, and very tender. The fried rice was my favorite part of the whole meal. It had a spice in it that I couldn't put my finger on, but it was so good that I couldn't stop shoveling it in my mouth once I tasted it. The fries were nicely salted, and ketchup was available for my American palate, although I understand from my wife that they are meant to be mixed and eaten with everything on the plate (with a fork) in traditional Peruvian dining. My wife had the Mondonguito Italiano, which was tripe cooked with carrot, french fries, rice, and beans, and she said it was authentic, just like home in Peru. She gave me a bite, and I wasn't a fan, but only because I'm not a fan of the texture of tripe. Next time, I'm going to try either the Chaufa de Pollo (Peruvian Fried Rice in a Chinese style), Lomo Saltado (Steak with french fries, onions, tomatoes), or Aeropuerto (a variation on the fried rice with noodles). The service was excellent and attentive. The chef came out to the table to welcome us and ask if we had any questions. It's obviously a family affair, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. Do yourself a favor and support a small business that is making delicious food. read more

I was in today for lunch with a special friend and ordered their Grill Beef and 1/2 chicken entree also some ceviche and extra sweet plantains. It was super good! Everything was seasoned and cook to perfection. I will definitely be back. It is a family restaurant. Literally cooked and serve by family members so don't expect service without prompting them.
