Cool spot. Meals were well portioned and very tasty. Chicken was a little rubbery for my liking but the rest of the dish was delicious.

    ceviche de corazón de Palma

The ceviche de corazón de Palma is appetizing. Bacalao guisado is a bit different from what I expected. It's like a fish tomato sauce with a bit of corn and pepper in it and eat with the cornmeal fritters and yuca. The sauce is a bit salty but it's good with the fried food. Service is ok. I was not even done with my appetizer and they served the entree already.

Sandpaper, drywall- oh I mean carne frita y tostones :)

So disappointed. I frequent this place for pickup orders and l get the same thing every single time. The last 3-4 times, the quality was just not there. I get the carne frita + tostones and when I first got it, it was dressed nicely with oil- I couldn't make out what ingredients were used but it was delicious. These last few times, no dressing at all. Dry ass tostones, dry ass carne and raw red onions with no dressing. This is how they treat a frequent patron and it's pretty gross. l've noticed a trend on vieques of SHITTY service and it's unfortunate. There's a curly blonde guy there when I go and I always get this unwelcoming vibe from him. I call Vieques NYC #2 because it's absolutely gentrified to the point where the magic of the island is lost because the woke mob and the middle aged whites want to experience "island life" and change every aspect to their liking. Sorry for the diatribe- but vieques is now a sad sight and has lost its soul. I certainly wouldn't come here again- at least not on my own dime. I can't even get the courtesy of all the ingredients I'm paying for in my own damn meal.

Kan kan with bean rissotto and tostones

I can't believe I'm the first to review this gem! El Plaza is a relative newcomer to the north side, started by the former chef of El Blok. The cocktail list is solid - I especially recommend the Delux featuring Crab Island 3-year rum. We ordered the red snapper (a special) and the kan kan (a massive pork chop), which was served with a rissotto version of rice and beans. So much delicious food! Portions are quite generous. Service was laid back and amiable, and the space is really cool- an historic arsenal that's had a lot of reuses but lends itself perfectly to its current use as an open-air restaurant and bar. Such a great addition to the plaza and to the Vieques restaurant scene! NOTE: Google maps led us (and others we met there) to the wrong location. El Plaza is on the corner of the plaza, next to City Hall. Google will take you past it to a house!

Good, but definitely not as good as equivalent island restaurants. Cool, atmosphere, and good service. There's nothing great about food.

The food is great! But sadly the services doesn't follow it, if you're a local or hispanic they make you feel not welcome

It was a slower Monday night so it was just us and 2 other couples in the place. Music playing on the speakers was really loud and took away from getting to relax and slow down. Servers were nice and helpful. One that brought us water started off by saying that she lets everyone know that the fish tacos are breaded and fried. Kind of an odd introduction, but I'm guessing they get that question a lot. We asked the server that came to take our order if the fish was caught local and she indicated that it was not. Either way, we got those, a pork dish and a flatbread. With drinks, the total came out to over $110 plus tip. About average for places like this in vacation areas. The food was very good though and we enjoyed sharing the dishes with each other. Looks like they also do breakfast/brunch. Worth checking out if you get the chance!

We had some finger food for appetizers: Croquettes and Mozzarella Sticks. Both were quite tasty. Croquettes were satisfyingly crispy stuffed with yummy filling, served with an irresistible sweet and savory sauce. The Mozzarella Sticks had a flavorful crunchy exterior and amazing cheese pull. I ordered the Fried Pork Chop with a side of Yuca Mash with bacon and peppers. The plating was beautiful. This Fried Pork Chop was HUMONGOUS and impressive looking. The meat was tender, oh so juicy, succulent, and well seasoned. It was absolutely delicious! The Yuca Mash didn't have enough pronounced pieces of bacon and peppers throughout, so I wasn't the biggest fan. I was able to sample the Rice and Peas, which was cooked perfectly, fluffy, and wonderful. What a hearty meal! Service was excellent. The first visit, we had a few of the local beers and I also had a frozen monkey lala. I was informed it was the strongest drink they have and it tasted dangerously good (didn't taste boozy). Of the local breweries, we liked Ocean Lab. To eat, we saw someeone else get the onion dip so we had to also. It was soooo good. The 2nd visit we went after a day of beaching and were happy to be able to use their rinse-off station out front (such a cool idea). To eat, I had a buffalo chicken sandwich and my fiance had the chicken tendies with mac and cheese. All were really good but I think the best entrees at our table were probably the salads but everything was really good. Overall, somewhere I'd go hang if I lived in Vieques and would be happy to visit again. They did have the cleanest bathroom of any of the places I ate in all of Puerto Rico.
