I was greeted by a friendly cashier who made some great recommendations for my first time in. I ordered the 3 piece chicken plate with a side of beans and rice, ended up getting my food pretty quick soon after ordering. My plate was steaming hot, presented nice with the chicken thighs being juicy, seasoned well and may I add mouth watering too. Stopped for take-out after a Dr. Visit. Have had an amazing experience with this location with eat-in dining Today when I arrived at home to enjoy my lunch which I was looking forward to. This place was a big disappointment, the beans had no taste because the needed some seasoning and neither did the chicken. For the first time in... ok, maybe, ever... I managed to try something other than my standard three-piece dark meat combo. I got a double chicken bowl. It was fabulous! Rice, beans, avocado (not a guacamole sauce), pico de gallo, sour cream, and chicken. Per the menu, it boasts 74 g of protein and 930 calories. If you are not super hungry, which I happened to be on this day, you could probably split that into two meals. Mostly what I'm gonna tell you is that it filled me up and it was so deliciously satisfying and HEALTHY compared to most fast food! Highly recommend! read more

So glad they are open now! They have lots of healthy and delicious foods available. And they open early - at 10 AM. But here is a warning - this is a former KFC and the inside of the business is small, so it gets very crowded very quickly. Also, the drive-through is available and many people seem to love it. But there were so many people waiting in line by the time we left, they were out into the street on Fillmore. There is also only one entrance into the parking lot area and that often becomes blocked by people in the drive-through line. We have been waiting for Pollo Loco to open so that we could try their food for the very first time. We arrived shortly before they opened at 10 AM on a Thursday and people were already in the parking lot waiting. The aroma of cooking chicken was a lure and a tease! The managers and MANY staff were very friendly and opened the doors early. I tried to get the Pollo Loco app, but there was a problem and I could not verify my account. The manager took down my information and said he would let me know in the next day or two if the problem was fixed. (Maybe because they only opened this restaurant yesterday, but the business had between 15 and 25 staff members working in the kitchen and at the counter, as well as walking around greeting people, and checking in on how people like their orders.) the restaurant itself was clean and bright. The seating area was maintained, but somewhat small, but the number of people who saw ordering. Several people went in ahead of us and were attempting to use the computer kiosks, but most of them gave up. I'm not sure why people gave up, as when I used the kiosk, it was very simple and straightforward. Of course, you can only use credit cards or gift cards to pay at the kiosk, so maybe that was the problem. I decided to order several things that my husband and I could share. I ordered the basic chicken burrito as a combo (this includes a bag of chips and a drink). I also ordered a side salad, and a street corn burrito bowl (as a combo as well). I added a small side of queso so that we could try that, too. I sat down with my husband to wait. The lines of people ordering and waiting were amazing. people standing in line to order as well as people waiting for their order number to be called - quite a crowd! Eventually, our number was called. (One suggestion I would have for management is to add a digital number display for announcing order numbers, since voices cannot always be heard over the noise of the many patrons.) There was a crowd of people that we eventually had to push through to get drinks. Pollo Loco have fountain drinks as well as fresh brewed tea, and bottle drinks available. When I picked our food tray, the friendly staff member asked if I wanted salsa with my chips and I said yes, I would like both kinds. Also, because I had ordered the kiosk, they did not have drink cups on the tray. Apparently, if you order at the counter, they give you your drink cups when you place the order. They included forks on the tray as well as 2 cups of salsa. I carried all this back to the table, then my husband got our drinks. The food looked and smelled delicious! The street corn burrito bowl was large and ended up being very, very tasty. The bowl is filled with grilled chicken, pinto beans, Spanish rice, pico de gallo, roasted corn, and a wonderful, slightly spicy sauce. The burrito was on the small side, but for $4.99, it was a good deal and very tasty as well. I was very happy that we got the salad because, not only was it fresh and delicious, but I had not realized that the burrito bowl would not have lettuce. The bag of chips which came as part of the combo meal was small, but appropriate as a side dish. The chips were crispy and fresh. The two sauce we were given a red, slightly chunky, mild salsa and a green (possibly avocado) salsa or both tasty but not at all spicy. The queso was also delicious, but not at all spicy. The lack of spice in the food is probably a positive for most people, but I wish there had been a spicier salsa available for those of us who like the heat. We look forward to returning soon and trying more different dishes. Next time I will probably try one of their larger salads. Note: There are many fast food restaurants, nearby, including Taco Bell, Taco Express, and a Tacos el Amigos, but this Pollo Loco is likely to be far more popular than those alternatives, as long as Pollo Loco maintains the high-quality of the food and service. I hope they are able to find a way to expand their drive-through line area! read more

Food was a little bland for me. Didn't have much texture, kind of mushy. The dining area was nothing to write home about, just typical Formica fast food seating. Daughter's family brought takeout to our house for first experience and I was not impressed. Well, our company has ordered food for 8 people, 2 times now, and both times, we have had missing items from our order. The first time, we were missing a complete meal and some side items, and this time, we were missing a lot of items, to include cheese on one of the meals, tortillas from another meal, and extra salsas from 3 meals. I was so excited about the Springs getting an El Pollo Loco. I've tried this location on three separate occasions. Unfortunately, the food isn't seasoned enough and tastes bland. When they say flame grilled chicken, they are technically correct. Sadly, flame grilling is just about all they do to give it flavor. The Salsa Verde Quesadilla was a good portion size, but lacked flavor heavily. The salsa Verde had no depth, and little flavor, and the rest of it tasted like a lightly grilled tortilla. The Guac is nearly flavorless, and should be called avocado paste w/ tomatoes. The Chipotle guacamole burrito is also, surprise surprise, bland. I tasted beans and rice more than I did the Chipotle chicken or guacamole. The drive through employees were as you'd expect, just kind of there. Not great service, but exactly what you'd expect from most fast food. Overall, I wouldn't even say its worth coming here over Taco bell or Rio's. read more

El Pollo Loco - Double chicken bowl with creamy cilantro sauce - Chicken Shop Near Me - Colorado Springs, Colorado

I'm really excited that they are here! I discovered them on trips to California but only ever got their crunchy shredded chicken tacos (which I absolutely love). Today I wanted to try the double chicken tostada which is like a taco salad but apparently they heard me wrong so I ended up with a bowl instead. It was very good (chicken rice, beans, avocado, etc.) but I was bummed not to get the tostada- they gave me two free bags of chips because of it, though, which was nice. My husband really enjoyed his queso chicken bowl. They have screens where you can order for yourself which I think I might do next time to make sure I get exactly what I want, but to the left you can also order from a person, and the people working were really sweet. The person who took my order walked around the restaurant a few times making sure everyone was doing ok and didn't need anything. They have a big variety of salsas- we really liked the guacamole salsa! The churros are tasty too. They have a rewards program that I think I'm going to sign up for. Ordered online for a catering event. Called to ask a question because one of the people we were ordering for cannot have dairy. Staff answered the phone and then hung up -twice. I could even hear the staff talking to one another. The third time I called no one answered after letting the phone ring for 10 minutes. It was at 10:40am, so they should not have been busy. For just opening in Colorado Springs, you would think that their customer service would be better. I ordered delivery and never received my food. Hours later, I went to the store to find out what happened. The manager told me they made my order twice and gave it to two different drivers, yet they refused a refund and even denied making it. I was then stuck going back and forth between El Pollo Loco employees and Grubhub, even though I had ordered through El Pollo Loco's own website. I felt like I was the only one trying to resolve the issue. I was told the manager "Jay" would contact me, but that never happened. I later learned from a driver that my order was given to the wrong address because the employees were confused at handoff. Integrity and accountability are clearly lacking at this location. Long time, El Pollo Loco fan here, been eating it most of my life. I'm excited to have a franchise here. I visited on opening day, which we expect to be a little chaotic. Just check your order and make sure it's correct and in its entirety, they will eventually work out the kinks. for instance, no dressing was included with my two tostadas, even though I had a bag of salsa in there, and the queso dip was completely missing. I have one, maybe two critiques on the actual food. The tostadas do not normally have such finely shredded lettuce. It is cut but not shredded and it makes a huge difference. Although my order was to go, I parked and ate it right away and the lettuce was already wilted and it was like lettuce soup because it sits right on top of the rice and beans. I highly suggest switching to something less finely shredded. The tostada is my go to and I really didn't enjoy it because of that fact. Also, the rice either seem stale to me or not done enough. It was a little too hard. I have noticed even in California that the creamy cilantro dressing is not the same and it is definitely not creamy. It is runny cilantro dressing with much bigger pieces of cilantro than I ever remember seeing so at some point, they must've changed the dressing. It used to be so much better in the past. Chicken tortilla soup was on point & delicious.. I have visited the Denver location on Peoria Street and I do not believe they use the same lettuce because it was an instant turn off and I would not have driven back if that's what I was getting. I urge you to change the lettuce. All in all I'm happy to see a Pollo Loco finally in the springs. just might have to change my usual order. read more

This place SUCKS!! It's suppose to be charbroiled chicken and this chicken stinks like , literally. I spent way too much for crappy service and horrible food. Didn't receive my salad dressing, didn't get tortillas with my chicken and sides, sides are small, ordered dark meat but got white meat also. The place isn't laid out right so you are very crowded at the drink machine, people trying to get their food and others trying to get a drink all crammed into the very small space. The drink machine needs to be calibrated because you just get soda water with a little bit of syrup... just gross. They don't have enough seating or standing space. They were only letting people in a few at a time, so long wait in the drive thru and to go inside. Drive thru was slower. Mac & cheese tastes like Bob Evan's, the beans taste like canned beans, no flavor. The mashed potatoes taste like water, the gravy was ok nothing to really talk about. KFC is better and that isn't saying much. They should've waited to open until they got everything done correctly. A gentleman behind me said that El Pollo Loco in Cali is 100 x better. I have been to several in AZ and the food is always good. This spot is absolutely disgusting and I will NEVER go back. Horrible food, crap service, disgusting drink fountain, and forgetful workers. Yes, it was busy, but not that busy. Usually new restaurants that open, the food is on point for about a month, then fall off to the crappier side. We were so very excited to have an El Pollo Loco in our area. Finally made it. We ate in the restaurant at about 3:00 pm. We were SO VERY DISAPPOINTED!! Food.... it was So DRY and hard and the flavor was off! My husband said it was kind of like Chicken jerky. Ambiance.... It definitely was older and seating was oddly set up (?). Service...it was great! The young lady taking our order was very nice and made suggestions in response to our questions.
