Went to this El Pollo Loco for lunch with the family. Have had their chicken before and always love it. First time at this location. We ordered and I picked up my tray of food when name was called. Being the complete goof that I am, I preceded to drop my pollo bowl all over the floor. I went over to the counter to confess my screw up. Considering all the fast food/drive through options out there. I really think this "can be" one of the healthier options. When I don't get an overcooked piece, this chicken is really tasty!! My kids and I eat mostly the drumsticks and thighs with corn tortillas. My favorite part of EPL are all the complimentary salsa's that you can get! I always ask for extras and they willingly oblige! Pico de gallo, avocado salsa, their house salsa and even serrano peppers! The $1 menu rocks! Chicken taquitos (with the avocado salsa of course), taqueria chicken taco with corn tortillas/cilantro/onions (with pico or house salsa) and drumsticks! After telling him my order and that I had food allergies, he treated the situation carefully by asking me what I am allergic to and said they will change their gloves when making my food. They metered folks in... took everyone's order and presented the food with a smile. So I still love the food here, but it only gets 3 stars because a few things have changed lately that I used to love! First off, this location used to be a El Pollo Loco / Fosters Freeze. That is no longer the case, and probably has something to do with DQ being in the same shopping center...Still, a dissappointment when I went there last night and wanted to also get a shake with my chicken... Second dissappointment was that they no longer offer nachos or there fish tacos. I know the fish taco was a promo item, but nachos? Really, this is a staple item... Enough of the negatives, and on to the positives. Food is great...Ive never had a bad meal and everything from the BRC to the tacos and chicken are excellent. 4 STARS as I am a fan,, I just drove 20miles round trip to satisfy our craving for El Pollo Loco chicken. We love the 10piece ALL DARK special. Great flavor, juicy pieces. Great even after reheating in the microwave. This was so, so bad. I usually go there for the soup, which is great. I branched out and got a double wet chicken burrito. It is awful. I'm super bummed bc I was hoping to make 2 meals out of this and now I just want to throw it away. I live 4 miles from the store. Got home in about 8 min and it was ICE cold. I had to nuke it. There was nothing good in the burrito, just large, cold chunks of chicken. I feel like I just wasted $7 and that feels terrible! When I order from here it's mostly for dinner or for a large party. Their chicken is full of flavor and they're not that expensive. I have used them for catering my kids' birthday parties and it's a big hit with the kids as well as with the adults. I can understand that this flavor may not be for everyone... pero a nosotros nos gusta! Would recommend it for a night when you don't feel like making dinner or to cater for a party. Wow, I'M surprised to see so many bad reviews! We love El Pollo Loco, we have only had one bad experience; well I shouldn't say bad but all it was is it took them to long to give us our food this one time. Other then that, we really have no complaints. We enjoy the chicken very much, it has good taste and flavor on the inside and out, very juicy and keeps us going back for more. We are loyal customers to El Pollo Loco and highly recommend it to all of you that want to eat some good tasting chicken. This El Pollo is a little out of my way. But I do love their food. What brought me here was the coupons in the mailer. They sent $5 coupons for a few entrees. I tried the Chicken Avocado Taco platter. The tacos were huge and very flavorful. The rice could have used some seasoning but I am sure this version is alot healthier. Plenty of parking and the staff is nice. The line can get long in the evenings. I believe the prices have gone up a bit. I will be looking for my coupons since $5 is a great buy for a filling meal. read more

I LOVE El Pollo Loco, and for us service at this location has always been great. But I think the key to loving it is knowing its limitations. We've tried most of their burritos and salads, etc.; most are OK but expensive and nearly always lacking in quantity of chicken. If you want any of those items there are plenty of other fast food joints that I think do a better job. But you are not here for any of that, you are here for the INCREDIBLE, fresh, flame grilled chicken. It's citrus marinated then cooked over an open flame for the most delicious chicken and to die for crispy skin. We get just the chicken pieces (dark always juicier than white, but a mix is good too) and tortillas (two packs are about 25c), and a couple of sides, and make our own best in the world little wraps. We usually get the cup of awesome,little bit spicy, flame grilled corn, and the coleslaw. Then we stock up on the freebies at the salsa bar (such as lemon, cilantro, hot peppers, salsa) to complete the wraps. OMG now my mouth is watering just thinking about it and we have to make the 5 mile trek again. It's not cheap though for fast food, but there again it's not your normal fast food. read more

Consistently good tasting, fresh food. Something that I didn't fully appreciate until recently (some bad Popeye's experiences, I'll say no more). A little mexican spin on the fast food chicken theme. Kicks it up a notch IMO. They used to include Foster's Freeze dessert items (shakes, sundaes etc.) but no more. My one issue is that they seem to change the menu often which is disappointing if they remove something that has become a favorite. I guess if something isn't selling like loco crazy it might disappear. One example was what I think was called the Baja Burrito. Was my fave but no longer available. read more

Don't even bother. Drive thru service is terrible and slow, inside isn't much better. The food isn't all that great. There's definitely better Mexican food close by and quicker to get too. Sad to give this location a 2 star review as I LOVE El Pollo Loco. Seriously, I get cravings for this stuff. However this location is dirty and poorly managed. On my last visit to the drive thru I tried ordering the 8 piece mixed, only to be told they were out of white meat. What?? This is a chicken joint, how can you be out of breasts? Does McDonald's ever run out of hamburgers? When I got to the drive thru window after a long wait the cashier was very rude. No please or thank you, just shoved my food at me at said HERE. This place actually serves good-quality Mexican food. The ingredients always taste fresh, which makes me forget that I'm even eating at a fast food restaurant. I have been here a couple times, but I will go through some of my favorite options, - Chicken avocado burrito: This is probably the best burrito on the whole menu. The cilantro sauce they use along with all of the other ingredients and perfect amount of avocado account for an amazing burger that tastes traditional. - Chicken breasts: The chicken breast entrees are always a good bet here. They taste fresh and are grilled the perfect amount. You can also get a combo with two sides (I usually get rice and mac n' cheese) - Chicken salad with lite-cilantro dressing: I usually get this when I'm in a healthy mood and want to skip the carbs. This salad has most of the ingredients that come in the chicken avocado burrito, except for any rice or tortilla. The lite-cilantro sauce is still creamy and tastes amazing. Overall, it's a great place to stop by for lunch, or go through the drive-thru and just pick up food. The drive-thru sometimes seems to take longer than just ordering inside, though. read more

I remember eating El Pollo Loco when I was younger and loved it! So we decided to have this for dinner since it was fast and I remember liking it as a child. Well not anymore! I don't know if its this specific location or what but it was gross! There chicken was SUPER DRY!!!!! Every thing was so bland and had absolutely no flavor! The chicken, rice, and even the salsa! We just moved to the area and I've been driving past this place everyday since moving here. My wife and I decided to give it a try. So we stopped in here as it was around dinner time. It wasn't really that busy maybe 30% full so plenty of space however it wasn't very clean, empty tables still had trays, food and napkins over them. There was a young man walking around talking to himself just sweeping the floor but not clearing the tables. The gentleman who served us was rude and didn't speak clearly, for some reason he kept jumping to Spanish which is rude. I'm ordering in English I don't speak Spanish and it's not that I won't get around to learning it but if I order in English is like a reply in English. The women next to him was just standing there starring, not sure if it was my accent (from England). But as we waited the women didn't stop starring and it made me feel uncomfortable. When the food was done we we're disappointed the sides were tiny and the chicken was just greasy. Their little cart in the middle of the floor where the sauces and chillies are had flies and issued tissues left around it, very unhygienic. So even though my wife's chicken was greasy my burrito was very tasty and just the right mix of lettuce and meat. Other than that we would never go back to this location. read more

Zero stars! I went in at 10:30 yesterday morning before work. I waited at the counter cash in hand to make my order and was completely ignored for over 4 minutes. One lady finally walked up to the counter and said that she'll be right with me in an irritated tone like I was interrupting her, she walked past me to office I assume. I ordered drive thru on August 3, 2015 at around 9:30pm. The lady taking my order through the intercom made me repeat my order about 5 times because she was totally distracted. That's fine, I understand it can be a little hectic. Usually I have had pretty good service and would rate about 3.5 to 4, however on Jan 24th it became a nightmare. We orders two of the Chicken Tostada combos and after about 15 minuets they were ready not a problem all though the place was pretty busy we changed to a take out and on our way home. I was so looking forward to this delicious meal. Got home and much to my surprise one of the salads was just about half the size of the other and lacking chicken. Not only that they did not include the creamy cilantro dressing. I then went online to and did the survey and included my contact information. I also sent a Message to the store on Clayton rd. To this day I have never heard back from either place. For certain they totally lack in customer service skills and clearly did not want to hear negative feed back. Usually I go there a few times a month now I have not returned since this incident. Now that I have not heard back from them I now have discourage my neighbors from going there as it has become quite apparent they don't care. I heard from a friend of a friend that this is the best fast food chain ever! When another friend suggested a stop there on a way back from Mount Diablo, I was happy to try it. There is an amazing $1 menu. There is a free topping bar with avocado sauce, salsa, onions, pico de gallo, etc. that can be put on top of salads, burritos, etc. - all super yummy. I visited this place about a year ago and I wasn't so impressed with their grilled chicken. Now I wanted to give El Pollo Loco another chance. I have to admit how pleased I was! It seems they did a lot of improvement to their menu items and the quality of service. I ordered from their new "under 500 calorie" menu. The Mango Grill Tostada was amazing! The taste was absolutely delicious! You can tell everything is fresh and off the grill! I paid 7 bucks for a healthy delicious Mexican food! To start, i really like this place, I've been coming here for years and no problem at all until this guy Daniel come along, for the past two visit, I've been so disappointed. A week ago he told me that it would take 1/2 hour for my order to be ready, I was willing to wait but he told to get my meal somewhere else, I was so surprise to hear that, but I ignored it thinking maybe the guy just had a bad day. Today, I came back to order a family meal and asking if I could mix match my order and literally told "no, it is what it is, take or leave it, and take your business somewhere else." I was so shock, I don't know what I ever do to this guy, I never met him before. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 star is because I still like this place and the food.
