Came in for lunch and had 8 piece family meal with 2 large sides. Cashier (Nya) was very helpful and told us there was only thighs & legs or we could wait 15 min. This restaurant was the closest food I could find resembling Peruvian roasted chicken. I normally would not have given this restaurant a second look but a local paper had some coupons to try different meals so the foodie in me was like tally ho. My co-foodie for the day ordered us the 10-pc breast and wings no sides. The smell enticed my senses and I was ready to dig in, but being courteous I waited to share in the experience. I discarded the skin surrounding the meat and commenced to masticate the delicate meat which I though was one bite, only to realize I ate the whole breast. I replayed this experience again with the addition of the condiments that were provided with the meal (a red and green salsa dip). The green dip tasted of pureed tomatillo tomatoes, a bit of mayo/yourgut and cumin. The red salsa, on the other hand, had an earthy and sweet taste with a bit of a bite at the beginning and then it went sideways! My tongue was on fire and tasting sweetness at the same time but the salsa was so good I could not stop. This is a place one of my friends visiting from out of town has to go to when he visits. We chose this one as it was close to the airport when he arrived. Their chicken is grilled fresh and not fried along with fresh vegetables. Normally it is more juicy than sixths one was today but I wont hold that against them as I have been to other locations and it has been better. It was such a joy to watch him eat as their isn't one in his home city so he has to get his fix when he comes here. He took more pics than i did and he doesn't even use Yelp. Who knew chicken was so popular in Humble! Most of the Pollo Locos in Houston have closed down, but this one is thriving. I arrived on a weekday (during lunch time) one day in June and was shocked of the lines in drive thru and inside the restaurant, which was 5 to 6 people deep. I almost left, but my birthday coupon had an expiration date I didn't think I'd beat if I didnt redeem that day. The line, however moved quickly despite seeing people waiting for their orders. The restaurant only had 4 workers for the entire store: one for each register, someone putting chicken on the grill, and someone ppreparing the orders to push out. Despite the numbers, the crew members were working as fast as they could to get the orders out in a timely fashion. I respect that, especially when the wait yields a hot and accurate order. Plus, the chicken was absolutely delicious--juicy, moist, and well seaaoned throughout. Even the breast piece that came witth my meal was seasoned to perfection! I also enjoyed the charro beans which are surrounded by a rich roux of bacon. The rice was a little dry, but easily fixed by mixing them with the beans or placing inside a freshly made tortilla with a little hot sauce or pico. Very filling meal indeed. Growing up in California I've had El Pollo Loco many times, it's basically like a KFC but with all your Mexican fixings. It also has burritos, soups, salads, tacos, and much more. I was definitely surprised when I saw it around H-town, especially in the Humble area. From my understanding this opened recently, less than a month, the place was full even on a stormy night. So obviously you have to try the chicken here, it has a citrus marinade and they grill the chicken right in back of the counter so you see it cooking, and it smells so delicious! I really don't remember the menu having this much on it but I guess they've expanded it, so it took my awhile to decide what I wanted but I shared a family meal which is probably what I suggest since you get to try their chicken and your choice of sides, plus tortilla, which is a complete meal! I'm a fan of the rice and corn for the sides. And can't forget the pico de gallo and avocado salsa. Prices are great for the value. Service is good. I'm glad they have one around now! read more

I dropped by to try something else on the menu. I tried the double chicken enchiladas for lunch and added a small chicken tortilla soup. The enchildadas werent bad at all for fast food, i expected worse! They were good and I could definitely see myself going back for the enchiladas. They arent my homemade enchiladas but for lunch they will certainly do. Better than alot of places. Generous amount of chicken. The soup was eh. It wasnt anything special. I had big chunky pieces of chicken, few frozen corn and veggies floating around in broth. They gave me a small cup of a blend of tortilla strips, cheese and herbs. I blend it in and it wasnt bad. Definitely edible but its not a chicken tortilla soup I would come back for. Trying new items on the menu. Some are hit or miss. read more
