I've been to this location several times over the last year. In just about every visit, I've experienced poor service, apathetic attitudes from employee or extended wait times for chicken to be ready. I can't understand how this keeps happening? People tend to eat dinner at about the same time every day. Managers need to plan ahead for the rush. Put more chicken on the grill. How can you not have any chicken to serve your guests for at least 20 minutes? Tonight I sat at the drive thru for 6 minutes (no joke) before someone was finally took my order. I didn't even receive an apology for the time I waited. When I placed my order for a 16 piece family meal, I was told yet again that I'd have to wait at least 20 minutes for my order to be ready. I said "no thanks" then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes before I could get out of the drive thru line and head straight to KFC where I was greeted promptly and they had enough chicken to fill my order. We love this place! Healthy fast food is hard to find and we appreciate that most of the food is basically "whole" foods instead of processed, fried junk food offered at most drive-thrus. You can see them grilling the chickens and making the salsas right onsite! The tacos are delicious, and I love the under 500 calorie double chicken avocado salad. Their tortilla soup is outstanding! The Baja grilled shrimp taco is very good. It was worth the few minutes it took to cook. Two tacos, with a side of chips and drink was less than $9. My chips were good but I am not a huge fan of the salsa bar. It was pretty well stocked though. Better lighting might make it more attractive. The restaurant appears to be fairly new. I've been to EPL a few times when I lived in Cali, so I knew what to expect when coming to the Humble location. I ordered the poblano avocado burrito thinking it would be full of flavor and I would get full. The burrito was just average tasting, nothing special and I didn't get full! I had to repeat "small tortilla soup" literally 9 times because they were too busy roughing around behind her for her to be able to hear. I was practically shouting. I have been a loyal customer of El Pollo Loco since they began in California years ago. Recently, I ordered delivery from their app from the Humble Texas store during a one day no delivery charge advertisement. My order was cancelled by the restaurant due to an emergency store closure. I was told by the restaurant manager to expect a credit to my card within 2-3 days. This was after three calls and a complaint email to their site, from which I was to receive a credit again within three days, bringing my wait time to over one full week. I do not recommend app ordering in any form, and received no apologies or compensation for my troubles. I will now only eat at the restaurant where any problems can be dealt with immediately. Poor customer service at all levels of management and terrible app service. Hoping for better effort to rectify this experience. read more

Good size bowl but WAAAAAYY too much lettuce compared to the amount of chicken. Still tasted very good. It had double lettuce, chicken, cheese, purple cabbage, beans, and rice. I enjoyed it all the way through. Since i had a coupon in the mail, i also ordered the 2 piece leg and thigh with two sides. The shocking part is that it's not during peak times that I go and theres NO CUSTOMERS THERE. I think honestly it's poor management. I have always been a fan of the El Pollo Loco fast food chain in Houston, Texas. But there is one location that can NEVER get it right! This restaurant is located on Ella Blvd at North Loop West (610). Since COVID-19 I hadn't visited this location due to teleworking and prior to that my experience wasn't great. So since I'm making better healthy food choices I decided to go get a salad...bad choice but I didn't complain. Maybe they were having a bad day...salad was skimpy, no fork to eat with but I ate it anyway because I spent over $9.00 on this meal! I return about a week later and same thing but with horrible customer service. I asked the employee why are they salads so skimpy and looks thrown together? She said nothing and gave me my bank card and closed the window. I said, I'm gonna call & complain, well the manager was even worse! She basically said nothing and was breathing hard over the phone like she wanted me to hurry up! I don't know why she was in a hurry because that location is always empty...barely anyone in the drive through. So whatever you do, don't go to the El Pollo Loco on Ella Blvd, you will not be appreciated for spending your hard earned money and management don't give a flip!! The manager was rude, dismissive, and just nasty. The staff didn't seem to care about anything. We tried to ask a question and the only response was "I don't know ask the manager". The cleanliness was low graded. The salad bar was filthy along with the soda area. And once again trying to notify the manager and she brushed it off like it was no big deal.
