And both times they tell us when we are at the order board that they are out of chicken unless it's a burrito or bowl. 45 min wait the 1st time, 20 min wait this time. I'm so confused. I was excited that they were opening an El pollo loco in Menifee, unfortunately it seems like this location is still working out the kinks. There is not consistency in the food quality what so ever as you could normally expect at other locations. I was happy that they have tortilla soup on the menu now that it's erring cold but each time it's prepared differently. Tonight I got home and all the toppings that normally come on the deluxe tortilla soup were already in the bowl so it was soggy by the time I got to eat it, but they forgot to include the tortilla strips. For a business that just opened I was very impressed by how organized and well trained the staff was from the moment I entered the door. The manager was right in front attentive to all customers and had an eagle eye for any glitch. That manager is obviously under employed and she's the sort of person who will make this location a success. The food was good, fast and fairly priced. First time i ordered here, they forgot to charge one of our burritos​, so one person in my party had no dinner. Second time, all the lids on the tortilla soups were cracked, and our bags were saturated with broth. Figured we'd give them one last try to get it right today. Two shrimp tacos, the shrimp bowl, and a burrito. Both tacos and the burrito are barely wrapped, hanging out and the ingredients scattered in the bag since they're not properly done, and the bowl was put inside ways. Disgusting presentation and now we have to reassemble the tacos to even eat them. I'd leave no stars if that was possible. Located just South of Newport on Haun rd. This location just opened last week (7/10/16) to a packed house. Even tonight there were over 30 people in front of us waiting for food. Great grilled chicken, salads & burritos.. They have everything from individual meals, to family meals with 20+ pieces of chicken. There might be a bit of a wait as everything is freshly made/grilled & is really popular, but beats the heck out of micro meals at the other fast food chains in town.. The new staff very friendly & the place was spotless even though they were swamped. So nice to have great chicken here in town now.. the next closest was about 10-miles. I'm super disappointed by this location. I used to live walking distance to an EPL in SD and have been to the Temecula and Murrieta locations and have always been a huge fan. I just came during the dinner rush and the doors are locked. There's a sign on the doors with a phone number to call for mobile orders, but no one picks up when you call. An employee then came the doors and I explained to her that I had a coupon that couldn't be applied in the mobile app. She said they were understaffed and so they were only taking orders in the drive-thru. That line was wrapped around the building all the way to the shopping center entrance. I was starving and was not going to wait what was likely to be at least 45 minutes and burn through a bunch of gas. I understand that dining in is not permitted at this time, but other locations and restaurants are taking to go orders in-person. I'm frustrated because I can't understand why they would be so short staffed during dinner time on a Friday night. This is a fairly new location in a newer shopping center in Menifee. I've been there three times, and while the first time was right after it opened up, the last two were within the past year. The second visit, I walked out before I even placed my order because the food I went there for was out. It sucks when you have a craving, and that food isn't there. Tonight, I had a craving for chicken, and not deep fried. Where else can I go? I figured I would give this place another shot, after all - their chicken is good. After waiting in line for about 7-8 minutes, I finally walk up to place my order for a two-piece chicken dinner, and I'm greeted with, "Sorry. We're out of chicken right now. It will be about 20-25 minutes." At a fast food chicken joint. How does a restaurant named "El Pollo Loco" run out of chicken at 6 PM on a Saturday night? We ordered the 16 Piece Family Meal, which includes 3 Large Sides, Corn Tortillas, and supposedly Salsa. We chose the more expensive Mixed, which consists of 2 Chickens (very small, at that), but we received countless miniature wings, only 2 breasts instead of 4, very dry, and no salsa. This business is of no consequence, for by not delivering what was rightfully paid for, they showed their lack of respect. One star because the location was not clean. Floors hadn't been swept. There was food and trash under the tables, the windows all had handprints on them. Literal hand prints, down low and up high on the front doors. The salsa tasted more than day old. The drain under the soda machine was filthy with mold and junk. I'm sort of shocked because this place hasn't been open more than a month or so. The chicken was tiny. We ordered two whole chickens and tortillas. Tasty, but cut in funny pieces. The breasts were odd. The thighs were bigger and wings were ok. An employee was sitting at a table across from us while we waited for our food. Her chicken breast was huge. So I was expecting a better experience than the last time we had El Pollo Loco. We used to visit the original El Pollo Loco in Santa Ana and know what it is supposed to taste and look like.
