This place is a HUGE RIP-OFF!! THEY FALSE ADVERTISE ITS MENU! I was charged $32 for a $26 meal a 14 pieces and two sides. I asked them whether or not the meal included white meat as well and was told yes. There was not any any piece a little while later the meal that I receive was nothing more than grilled thighs! Came through drive through ordered a 2 piece combo. Got home and no tortillas and the chicken was burnt and shriveled up. Since I was going back for tortillas might as well demand something that resembled chicken and not burnt leather. For a fast food place, this is pretty darn good! I love the salsa bar with 6-7 types of salsa and whole fresh serranos! The chicken is juicy and very tasty. Hi - I ordered delivery for my family using a credit card. The order arrived, but four of the five orders were incomplete. I spoke with the manager Louis and asked for the mistake to be corrected. He said, "I can't help you, there's nothing I can do." He was extremely rude and unhelpful. He said, "we use a third party delivery vendor so I can't help you with that." I asked him to call the third-party vendor to correct the order and deliver the missing items. He refused to speak with the delivery company or offer a refund. He offered credit toward the purchase, but due to the terrible way he acted, I do not want to do any more business with this restaurant. A credit toward more food there is useless to me. Obviously a credit does nothing to help about the part of the order that was missing. Instead of doing the ethical thing, taking responsibility for the mistake, apologizing, and offer to correct it by bringing the missing parts of the order, he simply repeated the line several times, "there's nothing I can do." I asked to speak to his manager, but he said he was the manager and there was no one higher I could speak with. I had neutral feelings about the business before this experience, and instead of handling the mistake with grace which would have given me more faith in the business, the manager was rude, and dismissive, making me not want to order from them again. Chicken is moist with a crisp skin. Tried the layered avocado salad family meal special ($20)I appreciated the minimal price difference (~3.50) to go mixed on the 8 pieces of chicken instead of just legs and thighs. I have ordered several times from this restaurant. I love the chicken tostado salad. Very tasty and crispy. Very filling for the price too. The pico DE Gillo is ok. The chips are fresh too. The guacamole is nice and thick the way I like it. Try the strawberry lemonade. It's refreshing. My only issue is if I order delivery on Doordash, I NEVER get my entire order. Came to the drive thru at 10:26 pm, all the lights were on. Drive thru sign was open and the corporate site also said this location's hours were through 11 although yelp shows 10:00. I still have no clue what the actual close time is. Super unprofessional. If it closes a 10, there's no reason yelp should have more updated hours of operation than the restaurant's actual website. There's also no reason the "drive thru open" sign should have been lit. On the other hand, if it was open and they just didn't ask for my order because they're too lazy to work the last half hour, my review would be a 1 star instead. read more

We decided to use a Groupon to experience El Pollo Loco for the first time. I decided to go into the restaurant to order - knowing that coupons and a drive-thru rarely mix well. The restaurant was not very busy even at the dinner rush hour. The young lady taking my order seemed to have some trouble with the cash register and getting things to ring up. She finally manged to get my order in the system and I sat down to wait. I had ordered a Classic Chicken Burrito, a large chicken tortilla soup, a small side of rice, and two large fries. This was to be a takeout order. It took about 10 minutes for my food to be ready. The young lady kept asking what appeared to be a manager about the fries and I heard the manager say more than once "Tell them we're out of fries!" I kept expecting the young lady to tell me this information but eventually my order was readied. I wondered if my fries would be in the bag and sure enough they were. I don't know whether the manager simply didn't want to have to cook fresh fries or whether she was just out of touch with the kitchen. When I got home with the food it was still fairly warm and we dug in. The Burrito was decent but a bit pricey for the quality and quantity at over $5. The rest of the food was mediocre and on a par with Taco Bell - although much pricier. I was shocked at the $3+ price for fries that were about the same amount as $1.50 orders at most other places. All in all the food was mediocre, but nothing to brag about. In addition for mediocre food it was priced very high. If I had not had my coupon our total order would have been over $20! This is outrageous when you can get hot and fresh food at authentic Mexican restaurants in town for less than that! It was an interesting experience but I seriously doubt we'll be back due to the quality, small quantity and high prices. read more

After I paid for the order with a credit card, the cashier refused to give me a cup for drink. And he said I did not order the meal with drink. So I paid 2.75 dollars extra for the drink. See I don't know why this place doesn't have 5 stars, it's simple. The chicken is great even served with flour tortillas and salsa. I've tried multiple items on the menu including carne asada street tacos, chicken tortilla soup, chicken avocado tostada salad, chicken avocado quesadilla wrap (I think it's a wrap) and el pollo bowl. I'm surprised to read previous entries of people getting dry chicken because that's never happened with me, and hopefully never does. When the lady on the speaker asked what I wanted to order I asked her for a minute while I looked at the menu. In the background she proceeded to call me a st**id white boy in Spanish. With this my wife and I drove to the front of the store and went in to speak with her manager. This place is amazing. They cook chicken better than anyone else in Tucson. I love that their meals are relatively healthy. We just came here for lunch yesterday after the gym. We ordered the 8 piece with 2 sides: mac and cheese for the kids and beans. It was fast and delicious. The chicken is cooked on an open flame grill so the fat is cooked off and the skin is nice and crunchy. I love it. I can't believe I've lived near this place for so long and am just not beginning to come here frequently. Every employee I've dealt with has always been really friendly. I went for a late dinner, about 9pm and coud tell that the condiments reflected this. I've been to many El Pollo Locos and all had very full salsa bars until I encountered this branch. Much to my dismay, there was so little in the pot, that even scraping the spoon could not even fill half of it. There were also chunks of stale tomatoes all over the counter. The floors hadn't been swept in awhile. Looking around, it wasn't busy and the garbage actually had a faint rotten odor emanating. I asked for more salsa, but wasn't surprised it never came. Also, we usually get 3 tortillas per person, but this time it was only 2, not sure if this is a new thing, but 2 certainly wasn't enough.
