I frequent Pollo Loco via the drive thru at least one a week. I enjoy their fit menu options since I live a healthy eating lifestyle. I normally get the keto burrito with a side salad and love their creamy cilantro dressing. I may get a side like corn, which I also enjoy but depends how hungry I am. The food is always fresh and has great flavors including the green salsas. The service is very good and workers are very friendly and normally get my order right. I usually go here for there combo meals as they're a great deal. However i noticed they keep serving less and less chicken every time. I always get the same thing, a pollo bowl combo with chips and a drink but every time i go it seems like they put less and less chicken on the bowl. Today was the worst, I ordered a bowl and there was ALMOST NO CHICKEN. I mean the chicken probably made up 3 percent of the whole bowl. Horrible customer service This is the second time I have been to this location after making a mobile order for pick up and have the exact same thing happen to me. I walked in with one girl in front of me ordering. As soon as she was done I stepped up to the counter and the guy doesn't even acknowledge me. He turns around and starts making a bowl and tacos for an order. (He put gloves on but did not wash his hands) A few minutes go by. Two other workers see me standing at the counter waiting and neither of them say a word. All this while my order had been sitting right next to the register getting cold. Finally, a woman asks me if I had been helped. I said no and tell her I had a mobile order. She then hands me the bag that had been sitting there all this time. I kid you not, the EXACT same thing happened the last time I went to pick up an order. I could not believe it. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. As for the food: the chicken was dry, the tostada salad looked like it was only half full and the salsa containers were only filled half way. Came in recently and my visit was definitely better than last. The service was still fairly slow, but at least my order(placed online and picked up in drive thru) was accurate and well made. The drive thru after dark was kinda creepy since there are people that hangout in the parking lot and the grassy area near the drive thru and that area isn't well lit in some areas. The person that helped me was nice, but they were out of some stuff and one of those things happened to be a cup carrier, but she looked for a small box to put the drinks in and that was very much appreciated. What I didn't appreciate was paying extra for dressing, but neither cup was fully filled. If it was free, that's fine, but it wasn't, and I don't appreciate paying for something and not getting the full amount of what I'm paying for. The staff is always friendly and seem to have good chemistry between them, the manager (I think his name is Phil) is always helpful and goes above and beyond for his customers, I've been having multiple issues with the online ordering app and he has given me the resources and information I need to address them. Furthermore, I can tell Phil is a good manager because he always keeps a smile, especially when things get busy (we all know how tough working in the food industry is, and being the manager adds another layer of stress). With that said, their food is always tasty and the dining area is always clean; which is why I keep coming back to this place. The ambiance is chill most of the time. There seem to be a lot of transient people in this area, making it feel unsafe at times, however, I've never felt unsafe inside the dining area. Bonus! I placed an order for delivery on the El Pollo Loco website and did not receive the tortillas that were supposed to come with my meal. When I called the restaurant I was told that I would have to come to the restaurant "to make it right" as they said. I asked for a refund, since I paid online with a credit card, so I assumed they could give me a refund to my card. I am a senior citizen without a car and it would be extremely difficult for me to get there. I should not have to be inconvenienced in that way anyway just for a refund that can be done electronically. I came here for dinner I ordered the black bean chicken bowl. My daughter ordered the kids meal macaroni cheese chicken taco with broccoli on the side and then I ordered a side of chips and guacamole. The chips were stale. I don't understand that. Today I spent over 45 minutes of my one hour lunch break waiting for the food to come out and if I hadn't gone into the store furiously angry, I would still be waiting.
