I decided to have dinner here on 8/9/26. I was debating between In‑N‑Out and El Pollo Loco, and the chicken won out. I've always used their coupons that come in the mail, and this time I went for the meal‑for‑2 option with mac 'n' cheese and mashed potatoes. The staff were friendly and the ordering process was smooth. The restaurant was clean. The food was good, but I do have a few things I'd like to point out for anyone in charge who might be paying attention. The soda machine's ice dispenser is awkward. You have to push the plastic funnel in, otherwise the ice never reaches the cup. Also, a couple of the syrups were low. The salads come out dry / undressed. This is the second time I've experienced this at this location. I can't tell if this is by design or whether the cooks are skimping or lazily dressing the food. This time I didn't ask for more dressing -- I just dealt with it and used some of the salsa fresca to add moisture. Next time I order, I may ask for the dressing on the side, maybe in a packet. The main course looked and tasted fantastic -- no complaints on the chicken, mashed potatoes, tortillas, or mac 'n' cheese. I also used a little hack: I took the plastic bag from the tortillas and used it as a hand protector so I could grab the chicken without getting my hand messy. It worked great. The churros, on the other hand, were bad. Whoever made them did not properly add the cinnamon sugar. I was driving back home when I tasted them, and it was basically fried plain dough. The value for the money spent was great, but it's the small details that can make or break an overall experience. I left satisfied, satiated, and content. Staff were pleasant, and you can tell they had camaraderie and trust together. It's always good to see. xo read more

Visited July 5 2026. See my receipt as always. I got 2 tacos..one was chicken with avocado and the other was beef. Although it was alittle over 8 bucks it tasted fresh. Especially the grilled chicken! Tacos are small but love the fresh cilantro and the 3 salsas. The darkest salsa was very spicy which I like! I went through the drive thru which was relatively quick. I was on my was down to the Sacramento area and decided to stop here in Yuba city to visit a friend for lunch. She suggested El Pollo Loco. I haven't been to an El Pollo Loco for as long as I can remember, so this'll be interesting. This location is right at the big intersection of the 99 and the 20 highways, just inside the big Food Max shopping center. Plenty of parking available. I meet her there and we go in. The inside looks pretty clean and not a mess like some fast food places. This seem a little more upscale for lack of a better word than most fast food burger joints. We go up to the cashier and place our orders after I look for awhile at the menu, since I'm not too familiar with it. I see burritos, that's familar, so I get a chicken burrito, I guess made with BBQ chicken that I see them cooking. My friend gets the chicken quesadilla. The food comes out pretty quick and we go sit down. My burrito is good sized, maybe not as huge as some places, but I don't need that much to eat. I bite in and it's very tasty, considering it's chicken and not pork like I usually get. My friends quesadilla looks tasty and I take a bite, yeah, I might get that next time. I'll say the food is good enough to come back again, just that I don't have any El Pollo Loco locations near where I live. read more

After an exhausting day at work the last thing I wanted to do was have to go home and cook so I decided to stop by Pollo Loco for a quick bite. I was hesitant at first as I have not had the best of luck at other pollo loco locations but I decided to give it a second try. I am so glad I made the choice to stop by! The woman who helped me, I believe her name was Mariela, took such good care of me during my visit. She made sure everything was how it was supposed to be and the food was delicious! First time there was Friday the 2nd. Service was great the girl with the blue-greenish hair was very friendly and polite. I had a complicated order and a bunch of questions and she handled my order very well. Food is good. I wouldn't have done this if they had simply fixed the problem but the lady on the phone hung up as I started explaining what happened. We went to this location's drive thru today around 1:20 pm and ordered a $11 quesadilla plus some other food. We were charged for everything and received it all besides the quesadilla. No big deal right? We can just go back and get it fixed. Nope, I just called and started explaining and the worker hung up and then didn't answer when I called again. The lady at the drive thru was very nice, but this is a simple fix and it just shows a lot that they couldn't do that. Won't be going here again. 0 stars. I was passing by yuba city to get to Chico coming from San Francisco so the drive was already long by the time got to Yuba city, I stopped by to grab a bite and I was treated very nicely by the front cashier person. She greeted me with a big smile and recommended the beans and rice for my sides which was an amazing choice. Her name was Mariela, she was awesome! The rice and beans were great and the chicken was perfectly cooked, the lobby's area was clean and presentable. Overall great experience for a first timer. His chicken was super cooked and almost a little too cooked, which I would prefer because mine wasn't cooked enough! I took a big bite and spit it out, raw chicken, lovely. I ordered the 2 taco lunch box and a drink. The box contains 2 tacos, a side of beans, and chips. The total was nearly $10. When I pulled up to the window I asked for the avocado dressing, which I get every time I stop by an EPL. The worker gave me a hard time about it, saying she will give it to me this time but I will be charged in the future. When I arrived at work, I discovered the bag contained only the tacos, nothing else. The avocado pieces in the tacos were hard. So basically I was charged restaurant pricing for some bad fast food tacos. I submitted a complaint and the manager emailed me with an offer of 10% off my next order. What a disappointment! Our first clue that we should've did a 180 was the mess around the condiment area. The place was empty, our second clue. There was no excuse why the area was unkept. We were both hungry and decided to roll the dice. I ordered the 4-pc meal with mashed potatoes n gravy, flour tortillas, and corn. Chris ordered two El Carbon tacos, guac n chips. When our order came up, I knew my chicken was dry and overcooked. It looked terrible; almost dehydrated. Chris's taco looked decent enough. I removed one of the flour tortillas and tore it into fourths. I took a quarter piece and tore off a piece of meat from the drumstick with it. I added some pico de Gallo, and extra cilantro. Then I took a bite, chewed and swallowed. I almost choked. It literally scared me for a fraction of a second. I thought I swallowed a bone. It almost got stuck in my throat. The skin was so leathery and hard. The meat was dry as paper. It was not good. The wing was so overcooked that there was no meat on the bone. I took it back and got it replaced. I should've taken the whole meal back I know. The thigh was dry and barely edible. By the time I got to the breast, FORGET ABOUT IT! Dry as paper! I couldn't eat it. We vowed never to return. It was not the first time we weren't pleased with our meal here. In Fairfield on North Texas St., the El Pollo Loco chicken is always good and prepared with care. Tried pollo loco and it was pretty good. I ordered the chipotle avocado chicken burrito and one chicken taco. They both were very good. Chicken was cooked and had lots of smokey flavor. Everything else was on point. The food came out as fast as any other fast food place, but the employees thought it took too long and gave me a free side. I got the mac and cheese. Very cheesy and delicious. Very good customer service and I will definitely be back. Not a big deal, as we frequent this place at least once or twice a week, and enjoy it. We asked Bernice for some hot salsa. Marcello, in Spanish, tells bernice to tell us we have to go inside to get our own salsa, because we've been in line for 11 minites... which was not our fault. Anyway, my wife goes inside to get the salsa and mention the situation to marcello, and he did not care or apologize. Not really trying to nitpick, but you can tell when customer service is off and who you are dealing with is being a careless jerk. Being from Washington, I was delighted to get a chance to have El Pollo loco while visiting. Sadly both times the same things happened: staffing issues of forgotten food or change, poorly prepared food (chicken burritos with nearly no chicken). The chicken we did get was mighty tasty, so I please put more of it in since it's a chicken burrito, not a "rice and beans burrito with fajita vegetables and one lonely piece of Pollo" burrito. Being it's been open a week and there are lines out the door all the time, im sure they'll get their groove on eventually, but for now lower your expectations a lot. read more

My previous review was deleted due to "not enough specific information". Hmm... that's the first time that has happened to me. Anyway, this place really has potential. They have an extensive menu and a lot of what you would believe to be "fresh" ingredients. The chicken is cooked fresh. I think that's about it. They literally have a microwave behind the registers in the lobby that they use to heat most of the meals. Beware of order customization - that's where you're going to go wrong. They offer the option of substituting shrimp in any of their chicken dishes, and if you do so, please be prepared to accept that most of the other ingredients in your burrito or tacos will be either missing or incorrect or just plain not cooked through. I'd say average price per person is about $12. Kinda pricey for continually incorrect orders. read more
