A gem of the Destin area. The food is so good I want to give more than 5 stars! Chicken is well seasoned and moist. Everything I have ordered here has been fantastic (although I am not a fan of onions, so the onion salad wasn't for me). My faves are the chicken, yuca fries, and plantains. I've also tried the chicken & cheese sub and el pollon burger, which were delicious. Yum! Dipping sauces are tasty. Friendly staff and great service! Dinning area is clean. Tables are spaced enough you don't run into your neighborhood. Background music is fun. Great for to-go orders! I sometimes get a large/family order to eat over a few meals when I know I don't have time to cook. Chicken and plantains reheat well. Yuca can get tough, but suspect it would work in an air fryer (which I don't have). Definitely recommend! read more

El pollon was amazing!! The owner was incredibly kind and helpful and treated us like family. We got a family meal and loved everything! The yucca fries are so crispy and delicious. The green beans were fresh and so flavorful. The platanos were so sweet and everyone one of us (including our kids) devoured the chicken! If we lived here this would definitely be a go to spot. Wow!!! This place should be slammed. I've been driving by it for months saying "I should try that place" and tonight I finally breached the door. Ordered 1/4 white meat roast chicken and went for a side of green beans (recommended by the server at the counter) and Cole slaw. There are lots of great sounding sides like mashed potatoes, fried yucca, French fries, Peruvian fried rice, tomato onion salad ... I avoid carbs so didn't try those but nice to have so many options. Got my order to go and it smelled so good I tore into it on the drive home. The chicken was aromatic and flavorful with cumin and coriander and had a crisp skin and PERFECT moist interior. It came with two traditional dipping sauces-- a slightly spicy fresh green herby one, and a lemony mayonnaise. What a great contrast of texture and flavor. Cole slaw was freshly made and crisp. But the green beans were an over the wall homer. They were the tender little haricots verts type, FRESH (not frozen and ya can't fool me) with tiny bits of fresh garlic and something tart like vinegar or citrus. Not sure, but I popped them in my mouth like candy all the way down 98. I know it's a weird little storefront location but get in there, Destinites! This is the kind of place we want here. I have been to El pollon several times. & they have been consistently serving the best. I always order a large plantain side. The burritos, & chicken plates are all good. The cashier is always so sweet too. Definitely recommend! I'd be here more often if it was closer to home, but a 30 min drive is definitely worth it. read more

Went to El pollon with the family and everyone including the kids ate all their food. The chicken was excellent as well as the ripe plantains. I added coleslaw to my order and was surprised at how good it was. The green sauce was spicy, but very flavorful. For desert, the tres leches was unbelievable. Will definitely visit again. When in Destin Florida, you have to eat at El Pollon. The rotisserie chicken is very moist and tasty. The side dishes really stood out, however. We had fried yuca, fried plantains, the green beans, and tomato and onion salad. The flavor of each of them was beyond our expectations and the portions were very generous. Much better than expected. Chicken was flavorful, moist and cooked perfectly. Had some sides. Mashed potatoes were great. They were more on the creamy side than lumpy. Gravy was so-so. Corn was just just. The plantains were not as crispy as i wanted but I am dismissing it since this was delivery. I dipped the plantains in a sauce they provided which was like a mild wasabi and that was fantastic. The green beans were great. crisp and fresh and i will eat the leftovers. It's been years since I had Peruvian chicken and El Pollon did not disappoint. Authentic flavor and well prepared. Great choice of sides. Kids enjoyed the quesadillas. I've been seeing this place since it opened but wasn't sure if it was something that I wanted to try. On this day I decided to go check it out and boy was I surprised at the large menu selection. I decide to have a treat instead of the healthy option so I ordered the chicken sub and let me tell you it was by far the best I've ever had. The bread was toasted but still very soft and chewy while the sautéed chicken with onions and cheese was something I will definitely be returning for. Don't think about it just try it!
