The Mac and cheese is some of the best Mac and cheese I've ever had. The rice and beans are delicious along with the plantains. The Cole slaw is also the best Cole slaw in the area. We love having this place walking distance to us. It's a perfect lunch or dinner spot.

This visit, the moment I walked to the counter I was greeted with a smile, and I remember her from my first visit. I ordered the 1/2 chicken because it was only $3 more than a 1/4 chicken with 2 sides. You get both white and dark meat and I order fried Yucca and black beans & rice. The chicken has so much flavor from the charcoal. The Yucca was perfectly fried fresh, and the black beans and rice were satisfying. It is a little pricey about $27 with fountain drink and a 15% tip (in my opinion they should not ask with their point of sale system when it is not a full service restaurant). This is the reason why they got a 3 star instead of 4 stars. This reminds me of Peruvian style rotisserie chicken that I use to eat when I lived in Washington DC area. Here, they are branded as Latin American Charcoal Chicken. This not a full service restaurant. You order at the counter and pick up at the order at the other end. They have a small but adequate dining room. I wonder how they are during a lunch and dinner rush. I will soon see.

That was the worst, the guy looks like he doesn't want to be there, he is a grump when you talk to him, and almost like you are bothering him when you come up to the window. We will probably come back but only order online and pick up. Now this isn't the first time, one day we arrived during hours of service and the same guy said not open until 7 pm. Yet hours said, 11am - 9 pm. Also make sure you order online do not expect to be served if you walk up to the window. There is plenty of seating area to eat in the outside, covered pavilion.

She scanned the code and the two items she wanted, the Jumping Lomo tacos and an order of the pork belly were not available on the scan of the QR code. When she was finally able to get the attention of the young man working today (he was on his phone and paying no attention to the window), she said she couldn't find the items through the code. He responded, "what do you want?" She asked for the pork belly and had already opted for the Jumping Lomo via the QR code order and was reluctant to ask for it to be changed to the tacos due to his brusqueness. The food left a lot to be desired. The pork belly was flaccid, no satisfying crispy crunch at all. At $8.99 it was a very small order compared to what we can get at any Mexican or Chinese restaurant back home and a waste of dollars since it ended up in the trash eventually. The Jumping Lomo was okay. Rice was good and with the sauce was pretty yummy. But the chicken was fairly bland and had no seasoning and the pickled onions were over vinegary. Such a shame... It held such promise but didn't deliver.

After roaming into a number of fun shops, we realized we were feeling up to a snack and drinks, and we happened across LaCo. The service and the food and drinks were good, and there was a nice ambiance to the place, too. The four of us immediately were seated at a bar during happy hour in the early afternoon when there were only a few people there. In fact, other than two people just leaving when we arrived, we were the only ones at the bar until just before we left. We arrived on a weekday afternoon just as happy hour was starting. Happy Hour prices included $2 off select wines and their house margarita, $1 off bottled beer, and discounted priced appetizers. My wife and I shared an order of Salsa Roja which included charred tomato salsa served with house friend chips. One of our friends ordered some blackened chicken wings, and both of our friends ordered drinks. Everyone was happy with what we ordered. LaCo stands for Latin Coastal as it is considered "30A's Latin coastal kitchen" with Latin-inspired lunch and dinner dishes with a coastal twist. The restaurant is located between Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach in Seacrest Beach. They operate on "beach time" and do not take reservations. Their published hours are daily from 11 AM to 9 PM with limited yet special priced happy hour menu from 3-5 PM and a full menu during the other times of the day. You can see their menu, photos, and more information about their restaurant as well as order online and sign up for news and updates at https://laco30a.com. While we do not head to 30A that often, if we head back to Seacrest Beach, we'll certainly consider another visit to LaCo, perhaps when the full menu is available. We recommend this restaurant to others wanting a unique taste and a filling snack or meal!

The Scallop Aguachile (Mexican-style chili water) was fresh, bright, and nicely spicy. The Seacrest shrimp ceviche (Peruvian-style) was equally fresh and delicious but milder and distinct.
