Good authentic Mexican food, i've been coming to El Porto's since I was kid, this place has the same taste since years ago. Everything taste the same just as it did when i was a kid, this place brings me back memories of me and my family going to eat at Friday nights (Paycheck day) Lol The food is amazing the staff was very nice to us and good service, I usually get the Large Steak Quesadilla but i switched it up this time and got a "Texian Fajitas" i think that's what it was called, but It had Steak,Chicken and Shrimp and a side of beans and rice VERY DELICIOUS! Horchata could be better! not going to lie but everything was amazing the cheesedip was BOMB!! same taste! from years ago! This is probably the best Mexican restaurant I know of, and I know of a lot! A modest and humble little place, but the food is delicious, with a few extra touches like hand made tortilla shells with certain dishes. Those delicious fresh fruit juices you'll see as the farmers market, 32oz for $1.99. The freshest salsa I've ever seen in a restaurant. And everything is so affordable! The grilled chicken options are my favorite, like pollo el diablo with a yummy Chipotle sauce, or Pollo rico. The classics are great, too, and some of the most affordable on the menu. With quick, friendly service, this place is hard to beat. read more

LOOK! I use to go here for lunch and dinner three times a week until i ordered a order of menudo with no bone and got a half cup of menudo. After checking my soup and realizing I had a half cup of soup I looked in the kitchen and seen the OWNER was the one who actually shorted me like this and spoke to him and asked him DONT YOU RESPECT ME AS A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER! He had nothing to say! So I told myself I'm going to give him one more chance. Big MISTAKE! Ordered my soup with no bone and when I went and picked up my order a half cup of soup! And guess who was the only person in the kitchen !? THE OWNER! I quit going for two years! I talk myself into forgiving and forgetting and started going back and getting the same thing as always and when it's ANYBODY BUT THE OWNER IN THE KITCHEN I GET A FULL CUP OF SOUP! Please please please don't spend your money at this place. THE OWNER CARES NOTHING ABOUT KEEPING YOU COMING BACK! I never ordered a half cup of soup I ordered a soup with no bone! Ay Caramba! Awesome place. At 8 bucks if you get water, it's sure to make you say "Donde esta el bano?!" My buddies and I would go there on Friday nights and destroy the buffet. Who cares if the wait staff are watching Telemundo? Everytime I was there, there was usally a futbol match on anyway. The buffet looks sort of Americanized. Never tried it. Ordered tacos and a burrito from there. The meat is good quality. Not like some of the other places in the area. It's a hole in the wall place but I thought the food was very good. No complaints on anything I've ordered. The service is what is expected. I'm from CA so Mexican food out there is amazing. The first time I came to El Potro was in summer 2002. I have not been back to Brunswick since 2011. I remembered how tasty El Potro was back in 2002 and decided to see if it is the same. The service is good and efficient. The restaurant is small and old but the food is traditional authentic Mexican!! I miss good Mexican food as there is zero good spots in DC!! Nice to know that a little hole in the wall in Brunswick GA is so yummy!! Enjoy the authentic Mexican food that the south has to offer because the east coast does not have anything good in terms of Mexican. read more

We were the area on a weekend getaway and read about this place on this site. We made it in for the dinner buffet. It was great. The food was authentic and as good as if ordered of the regular menu. The staff was very diligent. And it was extremely well priced. $8 for buffet dinner! read more

My last three meals here included a shrimp fish that my friend's son could not eat. It was so spicy and hot that the shrimp could not be eaten. The last two included steak burritos. The meat was so overcooked that it was dry, tasteless and the texture was so hard and several pieces burned black. It could not be chewed but my Chihuahua dog enjoyed it. Last two orders were take-out orders. I'm not one to complain about food and usually give a restaurant at least two tries to make the food edible but really, someone in the kitchen should at least monitor what is being served to their customers. It's a very traditional Mexican menu with plenty of Americanized food items. Cheap margaritas!!!!! Wait staff are very friendly. New to the area, and deserve business. When they first opened up he food wasn't great but once they were settled in the food got a lot better. read more
