Nothing much has changed about the place and I mean that in a good way. Hopefully she'll pass on the tradition and bring her children here someday. We only live 3 hours away in Gainesville, so Sarasota is always a car ride away, but every time we have to leave Siesta Key and the Island House, it always seems to take a while for us to stop missing the experience and the overall joy we feel when we stay there. No other beach or place in Florida seems to create that sort of feeling for us. Can't wait until our stay next year! Hopefully the pool table will be back! ;)

COCKROACHES We had…read morestayed here in 2022 with no issues, we loved the place! But when we came back in 2023, apparently under new management, on our second night we found 5 cockroaches starting at about 10 pm. We killed three, and they just kept coming. Jill, the property manager, was not at all concerned, and said they were palmetto bugs, and that those are not cockroaches. Surprise, they absolutely ARE a type of roach. She also claimed they come in through doors from outside as you open them, but we did not open any outside facing doors between finding the first roach and leaving for the night. They were located mostly in the bathrooms and under the dishwasher, pretty clearly coming from drains and water lines. Jill kept doubling down on this just being a thing in Florida, and there's nothing to be done about it, but we have stayed in probably 50 different places in Florida over 30 years and NEVER had a problem, let alone one this bad. The front desk attendant in the morning was very helpful in getting us moved to a new villa, and made us feel heard and like this is a problem worth being upset about. Unfortunately, in the new villa, we had the exact same problem. About 8 pm, there were two roaches in the shower trying to get out from the glass door, so I firmly believe this is an issue across the entire resort. To top it all off, there were termite droppings in both units as well. That wouldn't have affected our day-to-day experience as much, but just goes to show the lack of care taken with this new management. Jill, do better.

Units are somewhat dated but clean, and you can't get a better spot on the beach! This is our family tradition that we hope to continue. Sadly it may have to be at a different complex. We got there this year and some rules had changed! Big time! We used to pull the lounge chairs out to the beach, throw up our canopy and enjoy the beach all day. This year (with no prior warning or email) on the 1st day we throw up our canopy, pull out our chairs, and about 2 hours later a "beach attendant" shows up to tell us they now manage siesta suns beach! We can't pull chairs up, nor have canopies. Each unit gets 2 chairs and an umbrella they set up for you (for tips) each extra chair is $20. We rented the 2br that sleeps 6, so I'm not sure how that works. And you can't move the chairs. We have 5 units x2 thats 5 umbrellas and 10 chairs but they all had to stay where they were. Not only that, they also rent to the public. So I'm interested in how it will work spring break when they're renting to the massive public and their won't be enough chairs for the units.siesra sun basically sold their private beach out, which is insane to me! I get change, but a heads up email would have been nice as we weren't expecting to tip an attendant 7 days of our vacation! Not cool Siesta Sun! We're sad. Still love our spot, but sad it sold out.

Their policy says disturbances shouldn't interfere with other guests' comfort. Yet a large group of teens was allowed to drink and scream from sunset late into the night with little intervention. Security were more focused on parking passes than addressing open underage drinking on the property. Other guests, including the elderly, were clearly frustrated. My brother stepped on a broken whiskey bottle near the beach entrance. Glass left behind after the lack of intervention is a direct failure of security. This seems to be a recurring July issue based on what other guests told us. Until management actually enforces the rules they publish, I can't recommend staying here.

Nothing else needed. Park right at your door & walk in to a first or second floor unit. Only 16 units total, all with direct beach view & access. You can view the individual condo units online and chose the one you want. Flexibility to rent a few nights or a week. We rented unit 71 for 3 nights. We preferred 1st floor as you have a small patio on the front and back. #71 is one bedroom but has sofa pull-out bed if desired. The owner has it fully engineered with 3 ceiling fans, USB ports, storage everywhere, kitchen with all dish-ware, 2 TV's, plus all the little items you may have forgotten to bring. Well thought out for many little conveniences. Bonus, it is only a 7 minute walk to the village where there are many shops, restaurants, etc., but little parking available day or night. We walked to the Summer House and the Cottage and recommend both.

On our second night there, a roach the size of a bunny rabbit was found crawling on the wall in the brides bedroom. We were immediately disgusted. Later that night, an additional four roaches were found. One in the kitchen, which was killed. One in the living room, which was also killed under magazines. And two under the bed in the brides bedroom, one alive and one dead. We immediately got in touch with the property manager Misty, but due to the late hours, we did not hear back until the next morning. Misty was informed of the disgusting situation and advised us that this same cottage has had a roach problem in the past. She told us she would contact the owner who was currently traveling, and in order for an exterminator to come spray, the cottage had to be emptied. We informed Misty we will be out all day on a boat and provided her with numerous phone numbers for her to contact with an update. She never called or followed up with anyone. We also told her that we would like to be moved, or quite honestly just leave and stay at a hotel. That night, a sixth roach was found. That was honestly the breaking point. Hotels were booked and ubers were called and we left there by 11:30 PM. We told Misty what was going on and wanted to come to an agreement of some sort of refund. Instead of responding to our calls and emails, they decided to charge us a $75 fee for "trashing" the cottage. We left in a hurry, and unopened food items were left behind. However, anything that was opened was disposed of and all the decorations were taken down. We were refunded the $75 and one nights stay, which quite honestly is not acceptable. The cottage was not livable. Not only were there 6 roaches, there were flies EVERYWHERE. Being married to an exterminator, I can honestly say that this cottage has a huge issue that is not being properly taken care of. We found multiple holes under the bed that lead to outside which is clearly where some of the roaches are coming from. Not only did we barely get responses from Misty, the owner, or booking.com, Misty also accused us of lying, putting rubber roaches all over the house, and disconnecting the WiFi. We had no idea the cottage even had WiFi and Misty admitted to not checking the cottage after the cleaning service left. Do not stay here. This place is disgusting and has a serious moisture problem.

All the construction made things very inconvenient and they nickel and dime you with so many extra fees on top of the premium price they charge. I only stayed here because my brother and his family were booked there but I would have stayed at the Margaritaville if I had a redo. I cannot recommend the Diplomat hotel and it's hard to believe it's part of the Hilton brand.

We have been renting annually from Crescent Arms for 17 years (2024 excluded because of the…read morehurricane.) We know our condo owner personally who is from our area, so we get a discounted rate because of our long-term business and reliability. The condo is in good repair and we have never had a complaint about it. The building it is in, however, is another story. It dates from 1968, and there is only one elevator for 35 units, 30 of which are above the first floor. The elevator is old and dilapidated and needed to have been replaced years ago. It has broken 3 different times in our stays there, and since we are on an upper floor, it is a major inconvenience when that happens. This year during our stay, it was inoperative for THREE AND A HALF DAYS. Both my wife and I have mobility issues and she cannot use the stairs, so she was essentially confined in the condo for almost 4 days. This is inexcusable. Most maintenance issues (door locks, leaky water heaters, etc.) are handled fairly promptly, but the elevator is a glaring exception. The disingenuous office staff have a cavalier, lackadaisical attitude about it and claim that they have been "talking about" replacing the elevator for years. Yadi yada yada. Yeah, "talking about it" while sitting on their ass and doing nothing. They keep putting a Band-Aid on a problem that requires major surgery.There is a large atrium in the center of the building that goes all the way up to the roof, so there is no excuse why a second elevator could not be added. So anyone pondering to rent here above the first floor, especially those with mobility problems should consider what they will do if the elevator breaks yet again. Getting any compensation for such a contingency will be like pulling teeth. Other than the elevator, CA is a convenient place to stay right on the beach. The covered parking is OK-- you are assigned to a spot labelled with your unit number, and there are extra spots for visitors. The "lottery" with beach chairs and lounges starts every morning at 7:30 and they give you a tag to put on your chairs/lounges. There aren't supposed to be any chairs or lounges in front of the front row (set up by the umbrella people, a separate private company) There are prominent signs posted stating all the rules, but good luck getting the front desk staff to enforce any violations (frequent.) There are restaurants within walking distance or a short drive away. Drivers--be sure to watch both ways for joggers and bicyclists on the sidewalk when you exit the property.
