First time vacationing in Cape May and was looking for a casual, beachy, and affordable place to take the family for a meal. This place is a real gem. Real deal Mexican fare, big portion sizes, quality ingredients, and reasonable prices. We fed the entire family (wife and daughter shared a bowl and still had leftovers) with drinks for around $35. In a area filled with overpriced restaurants, this place is a great option. I only wish they served cervezas. read more

We decided to try this eatery for the first time last night and we are certainly glad we did! Based on a previous review, we went with two orders of the Al Pastor Mexicanos Tacos (comes with 4) and a side order of Refried Beans. We called in our to-go order and it was quickly prepared as well as nice and hot. Everything was delicious!!! (The beans were rather soupy, but yummy all the same.) Out for a quick bite and wanted to give their torta a try. I went with the milanesa: fried chicken, refried beans, lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, and pickled jalapeños/veggies (I skipped the mayo.) There was a large party before me, but the sandwich was done fairly quickly. Cutlet was good as sometimes tortas have very thin fried cutlets. Roll got ever so slightly soggy, so it could maybe use a light toasting or something with a little denser dough. Great sandwich and will definitely head back! read more

We have been to the original location and were impressed but had a disappointing experience yesterday. We got three fish tacos as partof a lunch box which included chips and guac and beans and rice for $12. It was an amazing value (thus the three stars) and probably enough food for two people. The issue for me was with the long wait time to receive the food at a time when the restauarant was not paticulalry busy and the actual flavor and quality of the food. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing or they were having an off day but the chips we received were stale, the guacamole was just chunks of avocado and not flavorful, the fish on the fish tacos was dry as cardboard and lacked flavor. The value was there but I would rather spend more mony on something that I enjoyed eating. read more

The staff was super friendly even being swamped and very busy. A gem of a spot. It's pretty much take out only. No inside tables and only 4 outside under their canopy. This little hole in the wall on the boardwalk is a secret Gem!! Squeezed between an arcade and a fudge shop Do not walk, run! to the best food in Cape May by leaps and bounds !! I have never tasted better food than this place for Mexican. The portions were generous the price was right and I only wish that I came here every day that I was out here. This is a small spot with about four tables outside no indoor seating absolutely worth the wait for any inconvenience great for takeout but we sat there we ate and we could not stop talking about how good the food was. I highly Recommended! I had a plain burrito with Carne Asada. You gotta try it. Spent a week in Wildwood New Jersey and hanging out in Cape May. Was just craving a burrito and realized I never left a review for the BEST burrito I've ever had on the East Coast from El Pueblo Taqueria. We were in Cape May for a bach weekend and while spending an afternoon on the beach, made a lunch run for the girls. As we walked down Beach Ave, we ordered food to go to bring back on the beach. The staff was awesome and accommodated our large order on a busy summer afternoon. I ordered the Cali Burrito (always a go-to at any Mexican joint) which came stuffed with steak, potatoes, guac, cheese and cream. WOW. This was seriously the best California burrito I've ever had. I dream about it. If only I wasn't 5 hours from Cape May. DEFINITELY recommend!!! read more

I wanted to love this place because I've read a good review or 2, but the main problem is calling: YOU CANT. We've tried 3 different times and they don't pick up their phone. We had to drive over to the restaurant to place our order which was very inefficient for our hungry family back at the house. Everyone said their fish burrito, pork tacos, and beef tacos were ok/pretty good but my cali beef burrito had either unripe avocado or frozen avocado (which tasted super off texture wise) and the beef was 50% tasty 50% too fatty to swallow. I had to spit out 50% of the meat which was quite gross to do in front of family & friends. Nachos (which wasn't even on the online menu) but we ordered it in person was ok but super soggy and mushy once we got home. My family loves guac. and that wasn't on the online menu either. Also, not sure if they have a limited menu but the online menu seemed way off and almost too small to make sense. I went to Pueblo Taqueria #1 in North Cape May for take out and their menu was much bigger and the food was tastier overall. Not sure why but if you try to order from Pueblo #2 online it takes you to the #1 restaurant site without warning which is confusing and very easy to order from the wrong location. read more

Ordered from here again, about 25 minute wait this time, which is reasonable given how fresh the food is. We love the campechanos, which is a mix of chicharrones/chorizo/carne asada--the chicharrones are delightful and they give you actual cubed pieces of steak! I tried the taco lunch special here on a recent vacation. It was delicious and a great portion for only $13! I would definitely come back on my next trip to cape may. I loved how generous the special was and everyone who worked there was very kind. It's in a great location to stop for lunch from the beach. This place is quick service. There is an order window and a few chairs under a canopy if you would like to eat there. read more

I ordered the placero tacos from this outside restaurant (with light seating). It was $13 for four generous tacos. The service was relatively quick (around 12 minutes). The outside tables are clean and have napkins and utensils ready. read more

Ordered the carnitas traditional burrito. Took relatively long for the order to be ready and it was pretty hard to eat as the pork was extremely salty. It wasn't typical carnitas as it wasn't shredded pork, more like chunks of pork chop. I had high expectations based on other reviews but was disappointed. read more

I am so excited El Pueblo opened at the beach! This is hands-down the best Mexican food in Cape May. Super authentic and delicious. The prices are crazy reasonable and the portions are big. Definitely get the Mexican style tacos, and if you're looking to branch out, the sopes (thick corn tortillas) loaded with beans, meat, tomatoes and crema are so good (grab a fork). We love the torta milanesa (breaded chicken) sandwich and the steak burritos! They also have a good selection if you're vegetarian, which is so awesome. My only request is that they would have Horchata and Jamaica (hibiscus tea) there like they do in North Cape May (and maybe some mexican popcicles?!) I'll take what they have though, and eat there every day I'm in Cape May. You should too!! read more

Had a hankering for some Mexican food and I read some great reviews about this new place so I stopped in with my sister the other day off of the beach. It was packed!! There was a little under an hour wait as a result, but the food was well worth it. The girl working the register was super nice and even brought our food to us when it was ready. I got the Wet Burrito with Carne Asada and green sauce and my sister got the Lechuga Bowl with Chorizo. Both were beyond delicious. Thanks so much! Will definitely be back here. read more
