This place was highly recommended by a friend, known for their pupusas. I'm not too big on pupusas but I wanted to give it a try, maybe this would change my mind about the dish. At 11AM, this place was packed! I ordered an horchata, 2 pork & cheese pupusas with no beans and we also shared a pork tamale. Salvadoran horchata is very different from Mexican horchata, it has a more earthy, chocolate flavor. I liked how the pupusas were made fresh and served with a heaping size of pickled veggies & salsa but overall, I thought it was okay. The pricing on food here is really cheap so I thought that was a plus. They also had a variety of baked goods on the other side. If you enjoy pupusas, I think you should give this place a try. A lot of people seemed to really enjoy them here, but it just wasn't my preference.

We were craving some papusas and were recommended by a friend to come here! It's definitely a hidden gem these papusa were made on the spot so cheesy and filled so well. Definitely coming back again. The order comes with salsa roja and curtido. We definitely ordered more than we could finish in one sitting. We want to come back to try more!

Authentic pupusas! They are made fresh. Our favorite is the bean and cheese one. The zucchini and cheese didn't taste like zucchini. I swear it tasted like jalepeno. I would skip on the tamales. We didn't like the chicken tamale or the elote tamale (sweet corn). It was very dry. Fried plantains and horchata also hit the spot for us. Came on a Sunday during lunch. They were quite busy. Took about 15-20 mins to get our food after waiting 5 mins to ordering. Can't speak for the bakery items yet but looks promising.

Nice local spot for papusas. It's a restaurant and bakery. We ordered the papusas filled with cheese, pork, and beans. Not too thick skin, fried fresh to order, served piping hot, and great flavor. The tomato sauce and cabbage pairs well with it. The plantains with beans/crema was delicious. The fried yuca and chicharron were crispy. We got the carrot and orange juice which was refreshing as well. It gets busy but service can be fast if you beat the rush. There might be a language barrier as the workers are mostly Spanish speaking, but you get by. Prices are very reasonable too!

Well, well, when the food is made in-home and in front of the customers, then you know the food is going to be bomb. This place gives you the savory and the sweet, meaning you can get pupusas and pan in this restaurant/bakery. I came here on a semi-busy Sunday, and this little joint is very family-oriented with each server and cook welcoming each and every customer. The pupusas and yuca fries were the co-stars alongside the servers. Again, you know the food is bomb when random strangers eating outside stop to tell you that everything here is good. Authentic Salvadoran food here! Teacher-approved!

I got the number two with two chicken pupusa this morning really good. I hope everybody can come over and try this if you like El Salvador.

    muy poco relleno

compré popusas combinadas y el relleno estaba muy escaso y salado, han bajado de calidad

I love their Guava and Cheese Strudels--they're delicious! However, it would be helpful if there were signs for each pastry so I can easily tell the staff what I want to order.

The baked goods here are 5 stars! DELICIOUS!! The bread pudding is to die for! If you are in the area definitely grab a box of baked goodies, you won't be disappointed. The prices are very fair for their baked goods. Now to the pupusas. Mind you my grandmother owned her own pupseria in El Salvador and in Los Angeles, so I know a good pupusa! The pupusas here are on the verge of being the best in the east bay if they just add a bit more filling. When I visited the flavor was on point but it was just too much masa and not enough filling. I also suggest eating there at the restaurant because if you take it home you'll end up with a soggy pupusa due to the condensation from being in a small box while piping hot. I also had the yucca con chicharron (fried cassava and pork rinds) which was a 3 at best. The yucca had no flavor and the chicharron was tough and dry. The service here is not the best and the staff can come off as rude. I was in line to place my order and was completely ignored, another customer walked in after me and their order was taken before mine. I had been there waiting for the past 5 - 10 minutes. The prices are fair ($3 per pupusa) but would maybe suggest upping it to factor in more filling in the pupusas.

Order the ube cheesecake, butter toffee cookie, and a assam milk tea with boba. The order came out quickly. Ube Japanese cheesecake is tasty, not too much ube taste. It is super light and moist, love how it is not too sweet. For the assam milk tea, I prefer it with more tea flavor. The drink was ok, the matcha drinks look better. The butter toffee cookie was the best, it was flavorful, the toffee has added toasted nutty flavor with some sugar. I would get a box full. Overall, has a great variety of baked goods.

It's in a corner of a very cute gourmet food hall and had a good selection of goods left in mid-afternoon on a weekday. Service is also friendly and prompt. I had to get the kouign amann because I always get one wherever I can, and also picked up a plain croissant, currant scone, and panna cotta. The KA was decent; I would call this one a diet KA because they only put the sugar on one side so it was more like a brulee'd croissant. I also have to admit that, while this shaping is very attractive, the direction of the lamination makes eating this feel like shards in my mouth. However, flavor was excellent. The plain croissant is very plain. It's decent but I've had better. The scone and panna cotta, however, were delightful. Both had lovely soft textures and wonderful creamy flavors. The scone held up for two days and wasn't even a bit stale when I finally had it for breakfast. Highly recommend this tucked-away bakery in the Castro Valley!

Seven Hills Baking Co was my first stop as I haven't had sourdough since childhood. I got their classic sourdough loaf. Even though it wasn't warm anymore it was still amazing. It was quite hard to cut into with a serrated bread knife, which I'm not sure whether that's normal or abnormal for gluten sourdough. However, the inside was lovely and soft. Nice strong sour flavor, spongy dough that was almost moist (not at all dry). I want to note on the gluten free front that seven hills baking co offers a few items which they advertise to be gluten free. Though the ingredients may be gluten free, the items are baked in the same kitchen, the same oven, and then put side by side with the gluten in the display case. Furthermore I don't believe their ingredients are all certified gluten free. Therefore I do not recommend seven hills baking co for anybody with celiac disease. Do not buy your friend with a gluten allergy or celiac these items. There is most certainly cross contact.

Guava cheese pastry has guava jam inside. Not much filling but the flavor is quite strong. No cheese to speak of. Mango custard bun smells strongly of mango but the flavor is more subtle. It's mango all throughout though. Coconut bun was by far the strongest flavor, really generous amount of creamy custard coconut filling. Matcha red bean roll is filled with whipped cream. It has the green tea flavor but it's very subtle. The red bean is few and far between. The choco bun was chocolatey, with a pudding consistency of filling. The bun had a cocoa flavor. Strong flavor of chocolate throughout. The Hokkaido bun was filled with whipped cream which was unexpected. Underneath the cream is some sort of white bean paste The cream filling is like a really good hostess filling. It's self serve. A lot of similar places have you grab the pastries with tongs, but here they put them in plastic which is a relief in terms of germ spreading potential. Line went quickly. Tons of options. Tons of savories too and lots of drinks. They were constantly replacing and bringing out fresh pastries. They did so 3-4 times in the 10 mins we were there so you know when you go the pastries won't be stale or old.
