The produce section is really clean and stocked full. You can get avocados the size of my head for .99 and all of the chiles you can imagine. The other huge positive for this place is that walking into the store, you can instantly smell the panaderia section and choose whichever breads tickel your fancy for a low price. The negative for me is that they surprisingly didn't have more Hispanic snacks and normal household items that you can find at Fiesta. Plus, I was looking for guava flavored jelly for my recipe and couldn't find it for the life of me and now I have to go to another store. read more

This store is nice, clean and decent. I only visited this store to grab some dried chili peppers and chicken feet. As you walk in, there is a food court and a fruiteria then past that is the produce section. The food looked super yummy. Anyways, I got lost but found my way after I asked for help. They had to hunt down an English speaking person to help me and she was kind! I stuck out like a sore thumb here and customers and the cashiers just stared at me as I shopped. You know the look; the "what is this person doing here" kind of look. This is a latin/Hispanic grocery store so it made sense but it got worse. Only a couple people speak English and when I went to check out the cashier didn't even attempt to greet me and immediately called the manager to cash me out..Mind you I heard her speak English over the intercom when I was standing in line. When it was my turn, she and now the manager didn't want to look at me like they were avoiding eye contact with me and it got awkward so I just said hello and smiled at them as they cashed me out. I was taken back because the both of them didn't even say I was all set or goodbye. They were both quiet, couldnt look at me and didn't even speak one word to me (I'm African, my skin is clearly brown and I know I didn't have anything weird on me). Honestly the awkwardness (I won't call it racism) didn't bother me one bit since because the store had what I needed, food was fresh and cost effective so I'll be going back on occasion to get my peppers and chicken feet. I may try a different location but the quality of the products here are good. I'm just warning y'all if you don't speak spanish or don't look Hispanic/latin you will get weird vibes from both the staff and customers. Don't let it bother you! Keep shopping away! read more

I've never really cared to the shop for any groceries, but I definitely do love that cafeteria. That is some delicious home cooking and you get some really really good Mexican food made from the heart. They have great prices go fill yourself up. Let's face it: I'm only 10% Portuguese and 90% Western European, so I stuck out and got a lot of looks, but this is my new favorite grocery store. All of the produce is clearly fresh and in its organic form - no paper/plastic packaged, greasy food like you find at Walmart. On Thursdays, seafood (and I think all meat?) is 50% off. I got 2lbs of fresh shrimp for under $9! You HAVE to check out the beef and poultry delis. They put walmart, Kroger, and dare I say Whole Foods to pure shame. All of the employees are so kind, and they were patient and appreciative of my (barely, but almost fluent Spanish). The exterior of the store does no justice to the interior. The minute you walk in, you are greeted with endless window after window of fresh bread and pastries, fresh guacamole, mixed salads etc. Can't speak highly enough of this store. I highly encourage anyone to try it out. You won't be disappointed. read more

Dont miss: Meat Market/Lunch Counter - Tender rotisserie style chickens are under constant basting of watchful meat market staff. Juice/Veg Bar - All made fresh from the fruit and veggies right there in the store. CHEAP compared to the fruit bars in north Dallas. Ask for a free sample of any or any combo. The counter staff accommodating. Pastry Section- Yummy Mexican breads [pan dulce]. I try different ones every time, a deal at 3 for 1.39 but always include a pumpkin [calabaza] or strawberry [fresa] empanada [little pie]. ONE similar pastry in some specialty north Dallas bakery or coffee shop would surely cost 4 bucks. read more

This is place is great if you can get there early and avoid the lines. This store can be overwhelming at times because they simply have so much going on. They have a panaderia, a carneceria and you can order aquas frescas and eat a meal here. The panaderia is the first thing you see when you walk in that offers a large variety of Mexican sweet bread. There is also a large area where you can order fruit and a large variety or aquas frescas such as horchata. The seafood and meat markets are very large and make sure you grab a ticket and know what you want. The store at times seems to do well in such a busy environment. The store is at times somewhat cramped but the staff is very helpful and quickly move you out of the lines and back out to your car. There are so many great deals in here when compared to other high dollar grocery stores in the area. I love this place when you need groceries at a very low price. read more

Yes, I had to convince my Latina wife to try this place out and now we both LOVE it. Produce, meat, and seafood are all SUUUUPER fresh and literally cannot best the prices anywhere. I'll let you in on a secret. The lunch counter has some of the best Mexican food in Dallas. The Pollo Entero (whole chicken) is $9. Comes with rice and beans sides. I make a special trip here to get it. The guisado verde is my wife's favorite. I always get a couple for pounds of that there too. I love the Torta Milanesa too. I don't normally frequent El Rancho, but I occasionally buy basics if I am in the area. My last trip was fine except for the Peppers I bought for my grandma to make enchiladas. Within a day of buying the red peppers 1/2 of them were covered with what appeared to be white mold! I had to throw them out. Fewer enchiladas = sadness. read more

This is the third El Rancho I've been to in Dallas. They're all great if you're looking for a wide selection of Latino food stuff. As far as individual stores I prefer this one to the one in Lewisville. But the one in Richardson is far and away my favorite as far as cleanliness and service. read more

i like this hispanic grocery store because they have all the good hispanic food. they also have my moms favorite bread pan dulce. the bread section is huge and they have different types of bread. i like how they have a juice store in the grocery store and they have interesting flavors. when i come here i feel like i'm in Mexico. read more
