Today, an enclosed space houses a number of locally owned, independent vendors that occasionally rotate. I opted for Laksa, hosted by Ms Lin, and ordered her take on "Shumai" which are dumplings folded around a ground mixture of chicken and shrimp. Topped with a savory dressing and accompanied by the sauces of your choosing, Ms Lin prepares authentic southeastern Asia dishes, appetizers, mains, and bowls. You will enjoy, I sure did.

I'll start with that, because otherwise this venue would be all about takeout. It's bright, open (30' ceiling!), nicely restored, and WELL KEPT. So often food courts are just a wreck--people's leavings everywhere. At St Roch they keep after that. Not only are there decent tables in many sizes, there's a nice marble bar as well. Now as to the food: we got going there for the $1 oysters from 3-5 at the oyster bar. Nice with a beer, and the char-broiled ones are great too. Then we went for the brisket sandwich special the charcuterie place was having for lunchtime-yuuum, and the owner couldn't be nicer. We've heard good things about the Cuban place too, so that's on the list. There's a fun Burmese place as well, and a poke/sushi place I mean to try. Also Bahamian. The places vary of course in the level of service, but the ones I've described are really nice. All in all it's a great addition to the neighborhood; worth finding out what clicks for you because it becomes a pleasant habit.

There really is a great selection of stores to choose from in the shopping mall. Situated right on the Mississippi river, at the end of Canal Street, this shopping mall is really easy to find. Once inside, the main thing you're gonna enjoy is being removed from the climate. Whether it's scorching hot outside, a day of full on humidity, or lost in rainy weather, you're gonna be out of the elements if you come shopping at this mall. That, in of itself, is a great feature of this New Orleans shopping establishment. You can pretty much find anything you need here. So, whatever clothing line, whatever type of clothing, whatever anything else you may need, you're probably gonna find it here. Great place to shop.

I like to shop stores like Johnston and Murphy, Tommy Bahamas, and explore Nordstrom Rack for deals. Parking is plenty and discounted, so don't forget to validate your parking ticket. There is a Cafe du Monde but there is usually a line so be patient. There is a somewhat hidden entrance in the Outlets that gets you to the neighboring Hilton without stepping outdoors which is convenient if you are staying there. The reason for 3 stars is that stores will randomly close leaving the mall seem empty. Some of the stores will solicit you to come get free samples of whatever they selling which could be annoying.

This past year I've had a thing for purchasing copper jewelry- most bracelets from South Korea, Mexico City, Tijuana and Mt. Charleston. Wondered if anyone ever made copper necklaces. Congested with wandering tourists, most of the vendors sell items that could be found at any flea market in the country. A lot of the souvenirs and clothing fell way short in reflecting authentic New Orleans craftsmanship. I was hoping for a market more along the lines of Barcelona's La Boqueria with bounties of fresh produce and appetizing edibles, but there was just a row of fast food kiosks beyond the beignets at Cafe du Monde. Without a doubt, the highlight of the market was the strolling groups of musicians randomly playing jazz to enraptured tourists. RELATED - Exploring New Orleans? What used to be a beauty supply store has been transformed into a unique city market filled with a variety of food vendors -- almost like a mini food court in the middle of the city. There are several cuisine options to choose from: Asian, Thai, Creole, Southern, desserts, ice cream, and more. Only a few vendors were open during my visit which is why I'm giving 4 , but I went with Thai, and it was delicious -- fresh, hot, and made to order. Wish the other options were open to choose from felt a little empty but will go back again to try a few others. I love the convenience of the self-service kiosks where you can browse menus, place your order, and pay right there. After that, you simply wait for your number to be called. The seating is comfy and makes it a great place to grab a meal, have a meeting, or just relax. Takeout is easy, too. A very cool and innovative concept for this part of the city. I'll definitely be back to try more.

View of the river. The food wasn't great, but it was OK kind of standard for a counter service Italian restaurant. The macaroni was cooked pretty well and the cheese was more than just a cheese sauce. It had some spices and obviously someone had made an effort on it. I can still tag every eatery that I have visited. I'm impressed! I also noticed that whenever I am at an outlet mall, I gravitate towards getting meatballs and spaghetti at the food court. I don't know why, but it is a trend. Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen offered amazing meatballs and spaghetti. Frankly, I wish that the Toronto Premium Outlets had one. I'd eat there every time I visit. I ordered a combo that consists of choosing your pasta, sauce, and meat. You also get a fountain drink, a breadstick, a salad. I wasn't expecting such a large side salad. It was fresh and crisp. My meatballs and spaghetti tasted yummy! The breadstick was flavourful with all that buttery, parmesan goodness. The only thing that stumps me is that green drink. I have no idea what I ordered. I'm hoping that it was lime. I'd come back here for my favourite pasta dish and to figure out what that green drink was. (33)

Ended up with the Brunch Burger. Cashier asked how I wanted the burger prepared, medium! Egg, runny or cooked hard? Runny! A few short minutes later, I heard my name called. Grabbed a few condiments and headed up to the room. Opened the bag and the box.... Decent looking burger. Not freshly prepared. The burger patty was probably cooked earlier and put together upon ordering. Egg, hard fried! Not sure why I was asked how I wanted it if it was already cooked. Just had to be put together. If I was Bobby Flay, I'd reconsider putting my name on this spot. Not at all the quality I'd expect from a celebrity chef! Keep on Yelp'n!
