NOW it's a restaurant and the food is fabulous. If you go- keep this in mind: this is a business made around a kitchen that knows how to make great food. They know nothing about running a restaurant. Expect this and let the glitches flow over you gently. You will have a great meal, at a great price. We (party of 2) went on a Saturday night and when we arrived there was one other couple being served and they were finishing up. For most of our time there we were the only customers. We brought our own beer in a small insulated bag. When we were seated the waitress told us about the fruit juices they were featuring. We showed her our little bag of beer and she said she needed to ask the kitchen if that was ok- and she left. She came back a few minutes later and assured us it was fine for us to drink our beer (you're welcome). For dinner, we started with chips and salsa and asked for a side of guacamole (none of the else things were on the menu). Our waitress again went to the kitchen to ask and again came back and said yes. We also ordered shrimp fajitas, one fish taco to share, and the special of the day: chicken molè. They brought out the chips and salsa, followed by the sizzling pan of fajitas (no silverware or tortillas). A few minutes later they brought out the guacamole. Ok- you have to try this guacamole. It is show stopping (and huge- look at the picture). Anyway, it was probably 15 minutes before they brought out tortillas or a fork to eat the fajitas so they were no longer too hot. Service was amazing! Although waitress and staff did not speak much English, we knew enough Spanish to place our order. Beyond the language differences, the waitress was super attentive. She brought my toddler crayons and coloring placemat, a small disposable toddler water cup, and smaller silverware for her food. The waitress also frequently checked in on us throughout our meal. The restaurant itself is in an unassuming building that reminds me of a quaint house and the inside was cute and clean. The food itself was delicious. We order the shrimp fajitas, fish tacos, and empanadas. The shrimp fajitas are a large serving and also comes with rice and beans. My daughter loved the rice but the beans were a bit too salty. One reviewer noted that prices weren't listed on the menu, which is accurate and i agree that for transparency purposes, it would be nice to have menu prices listed. This roadside restaurant, staffed by Spanish speakers and popular with Spanish-speaking clientele, serves rustic, yummy texmex with pleasure and smiles. Despite outside appearances, it's clean and stylish inside. We enjoyed the fresh and refreshing piña and jamaica agua frescas, and the salsas served with the tacos and chips were dynamite. We found this restaurant while craving great, authentic Mexican food, and we found it! We were a little worried when we were the only ones parking and eating, but we did go earlier than usual for dinner. We did notice a handful of to-go orders coming in, which is a good idea for when you just want dinner at home. Our waitress was lovely, and the dining room is a very happy yellow. They do not have tap water or a soda fountain, so there were bottles of water and canned soda. However, the food was excellent! I loved their classic margarita, and be warned, the salsa is spicier than what you might be used to. Their food is so fresh, and the fajitas were so well made; the chicken and shrimp were favorites of our party, and I enjoyed one of their homemade tamales. The service is really lacking and has a language barrier that we all stumbled through with our mixed knowledge of Spanish, along with some miming and pointing with the occasional nod of understanding one another. The interior is OK - yellow is a fun color but the layout is wierd, and it was too quiet and echo-y. Took forever to get any of the order, and there was only one other table seated. The food is good - not outstanding, but far better, fresher and more authentic than most generic Mexican restaurants. Without prices on the menu and being able to communicate what portions were, we went into our orders fairly blind. Turns out my young daughter's shrimp fajitas were really the way to go (large portions, $18.50, really yummy, giant grilled shrimp) while the rest of our meals were, in my opinion, over-priced for the servings. You must love a huge punch of lime in your mouth to enjoy their guacamole, and also one review mentioned it being huge and I would disagree. They were very, very small bowls at $10 each, and our party had two of them but with no prices on the menu, that was pretty awful. Oh and a $13 virgin pina colada for my kid? UGH. We only visit the Kiawah area about once or twice a year so I figure next time that we're there if we try out El Rincon I figure they'll have had a chance to work out some of the service kinks, or at the very least updated their menu with prices. read more

First of all...how is an individual bottle of water $5? They do not offer tap water with ice. The menu doesn't have prices so if you go ASK! the food is pretty good at least ingredients are quality. 4 bottles of water $20 total , one margarita $14.50 and two steak quesadillas, one cheese quesadilla and one chicken taco. bill was $77. My family has eaten there twice in the last few weeks. Really good authentic Mexican food. We have tried the tacos, burritos, and carne asada. The freshness really shined, and all four of us enjoyed everything we ordered on both occasions. There was only one other table eating dinner on both occasions. As others have noted below, this is a great kitchen that has not yet gotten the hang of service- please expect that and you will not be disappointed. This food is fresh, authentic and delicious. Be sure to read the specials board. As others have said the homemade guac and salsas are stars. We had the carne as Ada plate, fish, birrua and carne asada tacos. The tortillas are also fantastic, homemade and authentic. I would not come here with a group larger than 4 unless you are prepared to spend a while and realize your food is not likely to come out at the same time due to the size off the kitchen and the slim staff. If you care about authentic Mexican that will make you believe you are not in SC but rather Mexico and you can overlook the earnest and friendly but clunky service you will enjoy yourself here. read more

I had the menudo, which was very good, with just the right amount of heat. Tortillas were also good. I initially asked for birrias, but the server came back and said they weren't available that day. The service was pleasant and I didn't feel I was being hovered over. The hours posted on the door were illegible so I had to have the server clarify them for me. It helps to speak Spanish. read more
