    Beef tamale

We found this restaurant while craving great, authentic Mexican food, and we found it! We were a little worried when we were the only ones parking and eating, but we did go earlier than usual for dinner. We did notice a handful of to-go orders coming in, which is a good idea for when you just want dinner at home. Our waitress was lovely, and the dining room is a very happy yellow. They do not have tap water or a soda fountain, so there were bottles of water and canned soda. However, the food was excellent! I loved their classic margarita, and be warned, the salsa is spicier than what you might be used to. Their food is so fresh, and the fajitas were so well made; the chicken and shrimp were favorites of our party, and I enjoyed one of their homemade tamales. Everything was just fresh and authentic, making the experience a great one.

Fantastic food. Service is friendly but you might need to use the translate app on your phone...this place is seriously authentic.

Awesome regional fresh Mexican food. I've been all around and rarely rank something 5 stars. This is legitimate and delicious.

Food is great. They are waiting for new furniture and their liquor license. Will definitely return!

In town to see some family for Easter and spotted a taco truck on the side of the highway. Who can say no to a taco truck? Had two pork tacos, two beef tacos, two chicken tacos and a chicken quesadilla. Some seriously good (and cheap!) eats. Everything was fresh and the flavors were amazing. Definitely authentic, definitely worth the stop. Seriously, go here. Also, make sure to add the provided hot sauce!

I moved from NYC to San Francisco years ago and so have tried my fair share of Mexican food around California. This is better than almost all taquerias, and better than all taco trucks, I've tried. The food is fresh and very tasty. The staff is super nice. The setting is clean and pretty with tables in the shade and wildflowers around us (in September). We had: - veggie burrito and they had real veggies in there, not just peppers and onions, excellent burrito. - meat burrito, my cousin was very happy and she's a gourmet chef. - shredded beef quesadilla, more (well-seasoned tasty) meat than cheese, never seen that and now we're spoiled. Enjoy! P.S. The sauces on the table are the real thing: HOTTTT. So use with caution. I couldn't use them at all but I'm a sissy when it comes to Mexican hot pepper sauces..

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.
