Disappointed in so many ways. Me, Ben & the 4 Grands looking for some post-Easter dinner in Folly Beach. So many choices so at 7p we got our name on the list for a table. They take your mobile number, # in your group & name. She told us 20 min, so we got the kiddos engaged in a game & found some chairs & waited. In 5 min got txt saying table was ready, turns out the host heard 2 instead of 6 even though she could see us all standing in front of her. Ben even pointed to a six top that needed cleaning & she said that's reserved. It took another 5 min & they seated us at a very large community table. We didn't care, the kids get restless & everyone hungry. We got our drink & food order in right away so we could get the kids started. In 10 min we ALL had our drinks & chips/salsa, another 5 min the kids had their food. Me & Ben waited 30 min for our tacos which were not that great. Two Hours!! Two!! To get in/out!! This place is consistent. I don't think the food is exceptional or anything but the drinks are good and they have a huge space both indoor and outdoor. I hate that they don't do a lot of specials for things like national margarita day or cinco but they advertise to come in. read more

Just had dinner with ten family members. Taco Boy is a crowd favorite with the eclectic tacos and mexican fare. Our Super Co waitress - Riley provides five star service to iur table. She was patient with some slow to read the menu family members. Riley took our orders, explained options, and every order was correct all around. Had mixed feelings about taco boy. I really liked their decor, and service was super friendly. The food didn't wow me, but it wasn't particularly bad either. Just somewhere in the middle, average. There were a few misses though, like being brought the wrong taco, or them not being made with the right tortilla. Additionally, the margarita pitcher not really having 6 drinks as advertised (closer to 5). The hot sauce was good, had a nice heat that built and then persisted through the end of the meal. Taco Boy is a large indoor-outdoor restaurant close to the beach. It can accommodate a large party, though you may have a wait. While the live music and general ambiance is nice, the service was very slow and the food sub-par. The chips and dips were tasty, but the tacos are generally very small, dry, and have little protein. The side of black beans we all received tasted burnt and unpleasant. Staff was very nice and accommodating to our group and we loved the live music, but the food was so-so. read more

Some of the best food on folly beach! On the island some good grub can be a little harder to find than some would lead you to believe but this place hit the spot. My margarita was delicious and my 3 tacos (the baja shrimp, the birria, and grilled shrimp) were some of the best tacos I've had in a long time. Walked right in and got seated immediately and our waitress was great, very personalable and got our order 100% correct with the four of us getting different tacos! I'm not a dog owner but dogs are allowed if you have one, just adds to great atmosphere if you ask me. Beans and rice were great as a side as well, can't ask for much more than that. If you're in folly beach or the surrounding area, give this place a try! read more

We got a couple margarita and a small snack - their trio chip dip hit the spot with salsa, queso and house-made guacamole! We sat at the main bar downstairs and it was a nice atmosphere. Love that this place is close tot he beach. They have multiple bars. Rooftop was closed during the day on a Friday but sat at the bar instead. The bartender was great and conversational. The chips and guac were just average, as well as the margaritas. The tacos were delicious. I tried a crispy avocado and firecracker shrimp taco which were both delicious. Was there Sunday afternoon/ early evening for a snack. I always have to get my taco boy fix when on folly. We sat at the bar downstairs because the upstairs bar was closed & the seating outside is super tiny. It can hold maybe 15 people facing the ocean & all chairs were taken. There was a dj spinning tunes on the lower deck, which was nice, however, the music was way too loud! The bar tender had a hard time understanding what my boyfriend & I were saying & vice versa. The food was good as usual but the kimchi was a little spicier than I remembered. I never thought I'd say this, but the margarita was too big for us two Maybe if we were there just for drinks we could have finished it but we were pretty full from the food. read more

When I arrived, the elevators were out of service, and the staff told me flat-out that they were unable to provide any disability accommodations. No alternative access, no effort to help--just a shrug and a "sorry." That's not just bad customer service; it's a potential ADA violation. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), restaurants must provide equal access for all guests. When elevators break, they're legally obligated to offer reasonable accommodations--like seating on an accessible level or a temporary workaround--not simply deny access. It's disappointing and disheartening that in 2025, a popular restaurant in a major tourist area would make someone feel excluded because of a physical barrier they refuse to address. Until they take accessibility seriously, this spot's off my list--and it should be off yours too. read more

I really have enjoyed other taco boy locations but was disappointed by this location. The inside is nicely decorated and has a very cool folly beach vibe. We went for happy hour which has a pretty good menu and options but the food was just ok. You get free chips and salsa for happy hour. Salsa was good but the chips were a little stale. The pitcher of margarita we split was delicious. Service was just ok and the food was alright but hoping it was an off day for this location because we do really enjoy Taco boy. read more

Found receipt in my food when I placed to go order it was in my sour cream they went back they remade it. Then sat us at a table waitress from we that served us she was an amazing. Prior to this bartender had denied me and friend drinks because she claimed my friends id doesn't look like her. She looked at mine because it had a little normal wear and tear it and flimsy it had to be a 'fake' Id mind you my sister had her old id and it was also flimsy. They kept asking to keep looking at my id prior to this I was already served three drinks and had drinks yesterday too and no one had an issue .If they really believed it was fake they could have involved the police but it didn't come to that to verify if it was real. The general manager had came over and said he was no longer going to be serving me drinks because they couldn't verify it was real because the id I had from when I was high school was vertical and had wear and tear and suggested I get a new one. But what I really think it was she just didn't want to serve me and my friend. And when my sister suggested they get a id scanner the general manager stated that those can't verify if ids are real or not when that's not exactly true. They did comp the meals but regardless of that it's the principle and the general managers dismissiveness of the problem. read more

I got the quesabirria taco (add $2 for the quesa) and the grilled shrimp taco with cojita and key lime crema (sub the crispy shrimp) for $14 without the sides. I went with a pretty large group and we were seated right away. The tacos were amazing!!! I ordered the 3 taco platter with the carnitas taco, tinga taco, and chicken bacon ranch taco. Out of them the carnitas was my favorite. Next time I would skip the tinga taco for another carnitas. The beans and rice were nothing special, still good though. A lower rating because the service wasn't great. When our food was dropped off half of us didn't have any utensils to eat it with. We asked for them but waited maybe like 5-10 minutes before we actually got them. Unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience at the Folly TB. We've been going to both TBs for a decade and have ALWAYS had a great experience. The new(er) larger space may be too much volume to provide patrons/groups with a great dining experience. Christina S. was a bit overwhelmed, asking me several times about my order and returning to tell me the 86 list. One of the kids' tacos was delivered without meat. Overall, the food was unflavorful and simply thrown together (we've always loved TB's presentation). I ordered enchiladas and added a lot of (needed) hot sauce. My friend, the birthday boy, left half of his quesadilla on the plate. When the Toast app/POS was brought up, I asked Christina if the tip was included because the total sounded high and my only % tip options were 7, 5, and 3. Christina clearly said "no." I tipped over 20% and emailed myself the receipt. Yes, the tip was included (perfectly reasonable for a group) and (because I was told "no") I also tipped over the inflated total. I ended up tipping 53%! Yikes. We'll give the Folly TB a while to work out the bugs before we return. read more

Had been hearing about this restaurant for years but sadly it didn't live up to the hype. To be fair, our experience was evidently not typical... but I wasn't thrilled. Everything seemed to need salt - particularly the guacamole. Our server didn't know much about the menu. A friend ordered a salad with shrimp that were inedible spicy; she was promised a serving of fried shrimp to replace them, but that didn't appear until we were almost done eating. Just not impressive. I'd call this a nice place to sit on a cool deck overlooking the beach and have a beer or margarita. read more

Taco Boy is steps away from the Folly Beach Pier! We were able to be seated outdoors for lunch without a reservation, although sadly their rooftop is only open on the weekends. They have a pretty big menu with plenty of vegetarian options. I loved that they had both vegan chorizo and jackfruit! I love jackfruit! My burrito was great, very filling. The jackfruit was on the sweet side (instead of savory), but the hot sauce helped balance it. We didn't like the drinks here. I tried the pineapple margarita, it had no flavor and tasted like it also had no alcohol. Kind of disappointing. They were also do not have tortas anymore and were out of the paloma I wanted. The vibe and service are awesome with a beachy feel literally right off the beach! The seating however is pretty uncomfortable outside on big picnic tables. And the birds are always going after your food! The menu is standard Mexican upscale tacos etc. Great drink menu however the drinks are very small of the price! The food is also overpriced for basic tacos etc but you are paying for the vibes. I used to go to the original taco boy when it was more of a taco shack inland. I'm happy to see this local brand thriving but do think it's over priced for what it is but that being said I'm sure we will be back to this location and the Nexton location. read more

Taco Boy is a beach street gem with a great vibe. Perfect spot to come after working up an appetite on the beach all day. Definitely a family neighborhood taqueria--very family friendly. Kitchen is scratch-made, Mexican-inspired cuisine. We all sat wide eyed at the menu even though we KNEW that we'd end up ordering tacos but the menu sounds SO good. Also, the drinks?! She eventually came over and took our order, but our food was served with no utensils. We asked for some, and she ignored us again. After about 10 minutes, she finally came over with a couple of forks--with an attitude--and said, "Here's as many forks as you like." It was the worst experience. She wasn't friendly and was honestly very rude. I went to the hostess to let them know she did not give us good service. He proceeded to tell me she wasn't actually a bartender, just a waitress helping out because they were understaffed.
