The vaca frita here tastes really good, but all and all its nothing special, some pieces were tough some were very tender. The vaca frita was cut in big chunks, I would have liked it a little more shredded.I also had rice and beans sweet plantains and French fries. The fries were the best, nice thick crispy and crunchy, the plantains were OK, the rice and beans were pretty standard. The ambiance was nothing special at all. I ordered to go so I didn't receive any service, but just an FYI because they will not disclose this information with you when you order takeout they charge you an extra $.35 per item. That is WILD! Omgg so the parking is a bit challenging that's true! But the food makes it so worth it. I was honestly a bit hesitant considering all the bad rating. But idk what people are saying the food was great. The chicken was so juicy the beans were flavorful and the flan de coco taste perfect! The music playing in the background made the place so lively I was practically dancing in my seat! I'm here everyday, it's a problem... since the first time I tried this place out I haven't stopped coming. The food here is amazing!!! Real authentic Cuban food, taste like la comida de mi abuelita. This place used to be owned by someone different and it was horrible. I'm so happy there's a new owner, he put his own twist into the restaurant and he knows what he's doing. Gave us the wrong food for takeout. When I called from home, they wanted me to bring the wrong food back after we tried it and found out it was pork instead of beef. I went back with a picture showing clearly pork, but they demanded that the food be brought back before they could offer a refund or replacement. I have become a regular at this place as a recently moved to this area since it seems to be the closest and only Cuban food restaurant I have found so far. The food is good. I mostly come to pick up food for lunch. Some times cafe con leche, and Sundays for breakfast. All food to go, I have not experienced eating in their restaurant. I have to say the papas de la casa for breakfast are delicious. Prices like everywhere else lately, not so cheap. The parking is a problem, they share the small shopping that has limited parking space with 4 other places. The older waitresses not so friendly, the younger ones very friendly. One thing I notice, like other cafeterias, when you ask for cafe con leche they do it with the coffee they use the coffee they have been saving throughout the day. And when you ask to please make it with fresh coffee they get upset. Mostly the older waitresses. Don't they know that stale coffee its really bad for your stomach? Specially if someone has a ulcer or the like? And if I want stale coffee I would rather have at my own house instead of paying for it. What gets me is that the lady herself uses the fresh coffee for her own cafe con leche. And how do I know?! Because one of the times I was there I saw her do her coffee for her cafe con leche. I was very disappointed in several things, the red beans were low in salt, the Ox tail was tender but not tender enough, the meat was chewy, then the booster of them all the chicken chicharron; that was chicken nuggets not chicharron. The hardest part to swallow is 100% the parking. It was not worth $50 for two people, and the parking was more stress than it was worth. Now, the part of this place that was disrespectful most was that I asked for a container, and they surcharged me .25 cents. She didn't even ask me if I was ok with it. She just added it to my bill. I wouldn't have had to ask for a container if you made the chicharron correctly. This is not petty it is the principle behind the fact if your already charging me MP for half the meats and I am taking time to visit your location with the difficult parking then handing me a container should not be a charge I see on my bill. You want to charge me then mask it somewhere, but don't charge me .25 cents for something, not even you paid that much for it. I will never return out of principle. read more

If I would rate zero start this is what I rate this place... yesterday my husband purchase a pan con vistec and a ceasar salad.. both items were damaged and unacceptable. The salad has a lot of water and dead and the pan con vistec, the bread had water and soft.. I called the restaurant and I spoke with the staff, I asked for a manager and she told me that a manager was not available, they told me to call the next day. Today I called the restaurant and I spoke with Alex, he told me to pass by and pick up the same order, pan con vistec and a caesar salad and when my husband came , another manager female... I wish I can know the name... told me that I should have called yesterday and they were going to pick up the food damaged, I told her that I called and provided her the name of the employee. She told me that she only can provide me a pan con vistec and that sit...no explanation as to why...she told me to accept the pan con vistec (take it or leave it)... OWNER OF THIS RESTAURANT... this manager female is a mediocre and very unprofessional, she does not know how to treat her customers furthermore, my husband and I will never order again on this place. Came for chicken soup at the take-out window because we wanted something quick and easy. We have been here several times due to the proximity of the restaurant to our house. The food is generally "ok" - nothing fantastic, as is the customer service. Today, however, was worse than usual. We waited at the window over ten minutes. Two servers walked past us several times. There were only two tables seated inside and yet neither server bothered to welcome or acknowledge us in any way. After waiting ten minutes to give our order to anyone, we left. With this type of service and such lackluster concern for customers, we will gladly take our business elsewhere. read more

Today, Saturday I stopped by to order take out after years of not buying from them. I remembered why now.... Saturdays specials included Vaca Frita and Chicharrones de Pollo which I ordered both. The Vaca Fritas had no flavor at all nor was it fried. It looked like dry ropa vieja instead. The chicharrones de Pollo were nothing more than flour battered chicken chunks and not even crispy. To make things worse, they raises their prices on the menu by at least $2 on every entree. I say $2 because I could see the old prices scratched out by a sharpie. For what they are charging now, the restaurant should have updated decor, nice tables and chairs and an updated menu with their new high prices. Other Latin restaurants in the area have not raised their prices at all. I can say this will full confidence because I order from all small business restaurants around me. This will be the last time I order from them. I would recommend everyone eat at Cubavana in the Publix shopping plaza only a block away or at La Brasa on Marlin Drive and US1 for some real tasty food and great prices!! read more
